Chapter 20 - A flushed Leon

"She really did nothing?"

"Yes, Sir. The prince passed out all on his own."

Carmen frowned as he heard this and with great interest, he spoke, "Explain a bit more. What exactly happened right before he passed out?"

"The girl grabbed his hand," The guard vaguely spoke, not mentioning anything about Leon's anger.

Carmen couldn't help but want to laugh as he heard this, "He passed out just because she grabbed his hand...?"

The guard nodded his head and confirmed it, "That's right."

"Pfft-" Carmen could no longer hold it in as he broke out laughing.

As Leon lay on the bed, acting unconscious while he listened to this conversation, he couldn't help but feel that it would have been so nice if he didn't wake up.

In reality, he had woken up the moment these two people started talking but he didn't dare open his eyes as he felt too embarrassed and ashamed to do that.

He just wanted to die. He wanted to pass away.

He had already lost his face in front of everyone so he didn't want to be subjected to more mockery.

He was definitely not going to let that dumb mortal get away with this...!

"I guess this is going to go better than I had expected it to," Carmen commented as he continued to snicker, "However, I am a bit shocked to know that he could be so shy."

The guard didn't laugh nor did he dare make comments based on his own assumptions. He stood there like a stone statue and only responded to the questions that were asked of him.

When Carmen was done making fun of Leon's reaction, he let the guard go and stayed behind to accompany the man who was yet to wake up.

"Are you still going to pretend?" Carmen sat down on a chair and crossed his right leg over his left as he asked with a small smirk.

There was only one other person in the room and that was Leon so it was not really a mystery who he was talking to.

Leon cursed under his breath as he pushed himself off the bed and gritted out, "I'm going to kill her."

Carmen sighed, "You mustn't"

"Then you should kill her for me."

"Can't do that either," Carmen responded calmly as he shrugged his shoulders.

"Then let's have the guards kill her."

"Why are you so hell-bent on killing her?" Carmen asked as he tried his best not to laugh in front of the man.

"She must die at all costs...!" Leon stubbornly spoke with a deep frown on his face.

"She's a mortal," Carmen spoke as he cleared his throat, "It doesn't matter whether you interfere or not. There would eventually come a day when she would just naturally pass away."

"..."

"Leaving the killing part aside, I am really interested to know what happened to the friendship between you two," Carmen leaned in forward as he asked curiously.

"There will be no friendship! It's impossible!" Leon suddenly jolted up and stood on his feet firmly as he exclaimed.

Carmen pursed his lips into a small smile as he heard this and asked, "But I was right, wasn't I? She did come to you with those intentions."

Leon immediately glared at Carmen and this glare was more than enough for Carmen to get the clue.

With a sigh, Carmen stood up and patted his clothes as he spoke, "I get it. I'll leave you alone for now."

Leon said nothing to that and without wasting more words on this man, Carmen also turned and left the room, before closing the door after him.

As soon as the man was out, Leon took a deep breath in and shouted at the top of his lungs, "Where are the hound dogs?!"

There was a little maid hiding behind in the hallway that led to the prince's room and it seemed that she was waiting for someone there.

This was the same girl who had entered the royal palace for Carmen and it could be guessed that she was waiting for that demon to come out.

As soon as Carmen closed the door behind him and stepped out, the shouting of the demon prince came from his room and only a deaf demon would be unable to hear it.

The maid immediately covered her ears and shivered as she closed her eyes in terror.

When she opened them back again and looked ahead at Carmen, her eyes widened with worry as she saw the demon covering his face and looking down as his shoulders trembled.

"S-sir...!" She was no longer afraid and instead she looked to be anxious as she immediately called out to the man and ran over to him, "Are you alright? Are you okay? Can I help you with anything?"

Carmen looked up at the girl and she was a bit stunned to see that there were no tears in the man's eyes.

"Eh...?" The maid muttered as she blinked in disbelief.

It seemed that she had been worried over nothing...

Carmen immediately held a finger over his lips as he gestured for the girl to keep quiet and silently continued to laugh.

"..." Suddenly, she felt as if she was the one who was naive enough to think that such a demon like Carmen would actually cry...

Demons like him clearly did not have a heart so it was impossible for him to have mortal feelings!

"And he passed out?" Daren questioned with a surprised and amused expression plastered on his face.

Alora nodded her head as she confirmed it and the boy immediately broke out laughing.

"Bwahahaha... He really passed out! What an emotional man! Hahaha..."

Alora rolled her eyes as she saw her friend laughing after he heard her narrating the details of her grand meeting with the demon prince.

"Not only did you burn his room but you also made the man faint Pfft-" Daren continued to make fun of her as he spoke.

"I'm sure he won't mind it too much," Alora spoke as she shrugged her shoulders, completely unaware of the fact that the demon prince was planning on letting his hound dogs eat her alive.
