"Your highness, it's really bad. They are acting as if they had been bewitched," The maid who had brought them here commented anxiously.
Both Leon and Carmen had a realization of what the maid really meant by her words when she called the two over and they couldn't help but be confused whether they were supposed to laugh or cry at this situation.
In fact, it seemed that Alora wasn't the new maid who was first attacked by the hound dogs. She was the maid who had come over and helped relieve the situation.
Carmen's eyes widened as he looked around and saw the so-called new maid who had been saved by Alora.
It was none other than the little maid who would always look at Carmen with her eyes filled with admiration and love.
Carmen sighed as he took off his coat and walked over to the little maid.
It seemed that she had been bitten by one of the hound dogs who had torn one of the sleeves of her dress and left behind a bloody wound.
Her face was bloodless, stained with tears and it looked as if she was still frozen in fear at what had happened.
"Let's take you somewhere safe," Carmen gently spoke with a smile as he put his coat over the girl and tried to comfort her, "It's not a big wound so it'll heal quickly enough. You are quite lucky to have survived an attack from those hound dogs."
The little maid raised her head and tears stopped flowing down from her eyes as she met Carmen's polite smiling face.
"S-sir," The girl stuttered and her eyes seemed to be twinkling with delight as she found herself falling more in love with this demon.
Being called a demon really didn't give this man any justice. He was kinder than any angel that she had ever heard about!
"Don't cry now," Carmen coaxed her as he supported her to stand up, "You won't have to go through this again."
"Sir, I was really scared," The girl stood up and held her head down as she muttered.
With a small chuckle, Carmen patted her head, "It's okay now. You don't have to be scared."
If people didn't know Carmen's personality, they would think this man was being extra sweet and romantic to the little maid. Surely enough, even rumors of there being an affair between the two would soon start flooding the palace.
However, everyone here already knew what type of demon Carmen was.
He was the kindest and the cruelest as well.
It didn't matter if it had been someone else who had been injured instead of this little maid. It was all the same to him and he would have reacted in the same way.
But even though the girl was already well aware of all this, she still couldn't help but feel a little warm inside. Her hopeful mind wanted to assume that she was being treated extra special.
Carmen helped the girl and took her back inside the palace in order to treat her wounds.
Leon who was left behind, kept his eyes on Alora as he still dare not believe that this was really happening.
"Y-your highness, what do we do...?" One of the maids stuttered as she looked at the man and hesitantly asked.
Leon closed his eyes and took a sharp breath in as he tried to calm his mind down but he could still hear Alora laughing and he was instantly infuriated since his plan had failed.
"Uninteresting," Leon spat out a single word before turning around and heading back into the palace.
The maid was left shocked and confused as she heard this.
The demon prince was clearly angry but it seemed that he refused to do anything about it. For the first time in the maid's life, she saw the prince openly admitting defeat and retreating.
As the prince left, the maid turned back to look at Alora and her eyes widened ever so slightly as she had a sudden realization.
This Alora... She was not just an average maid. She could very well be an asset to those around her.
Alora helped the other workers lock the hound dogs up again and when she got ready to leave, the hound dogs looked at her with big droopy eyes and let out whining sounds, clearly showing their sadness of parting with her.
Alora frowned as she crouched down and rubbed the head of one of the hound dogs as she spoke, "I also want to play with you more but I have to go now. I'll come back later."
In the whole palace, the hound dogs had only ever listened to one person and that was Prince Leon, but now, it seemed that there was shockingly another person who was able to tame them.
In fact, the only reason why they listened and obeyed Leon was because of fear. They could feel the oppressive aura around the demon and they immediately understood the social hierarchy where they were the servants and he was the master.
However, with Alora, it wasn't fear or oppression that made them obey her. For some unknown reason, they simply liked her and could be easily tamed by her.
That day, after Alora returned to her own world, Carmen was once again sitting in the library and this time, the prince was also there to do some thinking.
"How about you just give up trying such petty tactics?" Carmen suggested with a sigh, "Become a friend and gain her trust. Instead of kicking her out, betray her and make her walk out on her own. We are Demons. There is no need for us to be so thoughtful."
Leon gulped as he heard this, but it seemed that there was something stopping him from agreeing to follow Carmen's suggestion.
"Befriend and betray her...?" Leon muttered in disbelief as he shook his head, "I won't be satisfied with that. I still need her to beg."
Carmen pursed his lips into a thin line as he looked at the man with an unimpressed expression plastered on his face.
"I need her to accept her weakness and grovel on the ground. She is nothing more than a mere mortal whose life is based on my mood."
"In that case, I guess your mood has been really good considering the fact that she is still alive."
