Chapter 28 - Contract with a demon.

"Your highness, you called me," Alora happily beamed as she looked at the man with a warm excited smile.

"Don't smile at me like that," Leon clicked his tongue as he rubbed his forehead and looked away, muttering, "You look uglier."

Alora didn't seem to have heard that latter comment so she still happily responded, "It's the first time that you have especially called to see me so of course, I am happy. This can be considered as us getting close, can it not?"

"In your dreams," Leon rolled his eyes as he retorted.

Alora blinked innocently as she looked at the man for a solid minute before laughing as she pointed out, "As long as I checked, this is considered as a part of my dreams. That's why I call it my dreamland. So you are indirectly agreeing to the fact that we are starting to get closer."

Leon pursed his lips into a thin line and looked to be unimpressed as he heard this, but sadly enough, he couldn't refute that statement.

"With that aside, I hope you considered my offer," Alora beamed as she looked at the man with great enthusiasm.

"Unfortunately so," Leon sighed as he spoke in a dejected manner, "I was forced to consider your offer and I have to say, it still does not manage to entertain my interest."

Alora's smile faltered a bit as she heard this but she said nothing and patiently waited to let the man complete.

"However, I would like to propose another deal for you. One that helps us both meet in the middle."

Alora's smile turned into a small frown as she suspiciously questioned, "What is it?"

"Instead of killing them, I can help you banish them from hell," Leon cleared his throat as he spoke.

"Banish them to where...?" Alora raised her eyebrows as she questioned.

"You don't need to worry about that. They'll be out of your sight. Isn't that what you wanted?"

Alora gulped as she heard this and nodded her head with a bit of hesitation.

"So why don't you agree to my offer?" Leon raised his head higher as he asked with a smug smirk plastered on his face.

"That does sound like the better alternative but..." Alora was clearly a bit hesitant.

"But what?" Leon pressed.

"I have been warned not to sign contracts with demons so if you are the one offering me the contract, I would definitely not be willing."

"..." Leon felt stunned as he heard this and he slowly repeated the girl's words through his mind in order to make sure whether he had heard it right or not.

"So let me do the contract offering," Alora straightforwardly suggested.

Leon didn't know if he was supposed to laugh or cry as he heard this. He had the urge to remind the girl that it didn't matter whether she was the one offering the contract or if it was Leon. At the end of the day, a devil's contract was still a devil's contract and even if it was just verbal, it still held the same power and meaning.

At this point, all he could do was laugh about the girl's dumb human brain that failed to properly do its job.

"Whatever rocks your boat," Leon rubbed his forehead and sighed as he agreed to her 'idea'.

"Great!" Alora beamed as she clapped her hands together, "Now, when are you going to banish them?"

"Today," Leon responded without missing a beat and Alora seemed to be a little surprised as she heard this.

"You work fast," The girl muttered as she felt a little amazed at the fact that hell worked faster than the human government and the government only had to deal with a single country whereas hell had to deal with all the worse criminals from around the globe.

"That's because I am not paid by the hour like you people," Leon clicked his tongue as he retorted and for the first time in the demon's life, somebody actually laughed at one of his pathetic jokes.

"You're funny," Alora complimented the man as she chuckled and for a split second, Leon felt as if Carmen was right.

If he tried, maybe he really could get along with this mortal.

However, this thought only lasted for a second as he immediately remembered the fact that this girl would laugh at him even when he didn't crack a joke.

"I guess we are partners then," Alora cleared her throat and stretched her hand out forward for a handshake as she spoke.

Leon looked away, acting uninterested, but his hand still reached out to shake her hand as he reminded her, "We are not partners. You are still working under me."

"In that case, you should be paying me, boss," Alora spoke with a smirk as she pointed out, "I helped you root out the people who were against you, doesn't that mean I should be getting some hefty bonus or something?"

The corners of Leon's lips twitched as he heard this and he opened his mouth to say something but immediately closed it in the very next second as he had a sudden urge to mess with this girl.

With a sigh, Leon shook his head and asked, "Are you sure you would be able to handle that much generosity?"

Alora was innocently unaware of what went on inside this demon prince's head so she nodded her head with a chuckle, "I'm sure everybody likes a bit of generosity."

Leon slightly tilted his head with an amused smirk as he heard this and it was only then that Alora started wondering if she had gotten herself into more trouble or not.

That day, Alora later understood what the man really meant by his great generosity and she would certainly be lying if she said that she was happy with it.

His generosity came in the form of a promotion and it wasn't even just any normal promotion. She was suddenly promoted to take a role that had no prior history of existence.

She was promoted to become the demon prince's personal maid...
