Mari gulped as she slowly nodded her head, "I saw him next to that girl. He's her friend."
Dorothy's eyes immediately snapped towards the man with hostility as she heard this.
"It seems that your eyes are good," The man nodded his head as he appreciated Mari's ability to see through him, but at the very next minute, he continued to say something that was rather a bit offensive, "Unfortunately your tongue is a bit loose."
"What the hell are you trying to do?" Beth gritted out as she took a defensive stand.
Daren chuckled as he heard this and tilted his head ever so slightly as he responded, "Your question is a bit twisted. Let me rephrase it for you. What the hell do 'you' think you are planning to do?"
The three women looked at each other and it was clear that they were a bit worried, but at the end of the day, they were still demons who had their own pride to keep so they overestimated themselves.
"Get out of our way if you don't wish for an early death!" Dorothy warned as she glared at the man.
Daren smirked as he heard this and teased the woman, "An early death? Are you sure you are capable of something like that?"
Dorothy immediately gulped as she heard this and she felt a shiver run down her spine as she saw the bloodlust in the man's eyes.
This man seemed to be much more hungry for blood than the demon prince and that in itself spoke a lot about him.
"We have no business with each other so there is no need for a useless feud," Mari cleared her throat as she calmed herself down and spoke.
Unlike the other two, Mari seemed to be much more wary of this man and it was because she had felt a part of his power when she had shaken his hand.
It was only for a second but it was more than enough to terrify her.
Daren looked to be a bit amused by her words so he corrected her and spoke, "I'm afraid you do have some business with me. If you want to go after Alora, you'd have to first get through me. Her business is my business so please don't take it personal."
Mari gulped as she heard this and took a minute to respond, without bothering to consult the other two, "We'll get off her back. We won't have anything to do with her so let us go."
Before Daren could say anything, Dorothy and Beth had already spoken up.
"What the?! Sis, are you seriously being scared of him?" Dorothy questioned in disbelief.
"Why are you acting as if we are supposed to beg for our lives?!" Beth also fumed.
"Shut up," Mari immediately snapped at the two as she sent them a glare.
Dorothy and Beth shut their mouths as they heard this and their eyebrows creased together unhappily.
"How can I trust your words?" Daren asked with a smirk that looked to be a bit too wicked as it got illuminated under the red ambient light.
"You can make a contract with us. A demon can never break their contract," Mari hesitantly spoke.
This time, Daren took a few minutes to react and the reaction didn't come in the form of a verbal reply, rather, it came in the form of laughter that seemed to shake the sky and the ground.
Beth and Dorothy finally understood Mari's fear and they couldn't help but feel stupid for deciding to go against such a person.
"A demon can't break his contract, you say? What a joke," Daren scoffed as he jumped down from the tree.
The three demons took a step back as they saw the man approaching and cold sweat started forming on their foreheads.
Daren's smirk deepened and it truly looked to be sinister as he whistled.
The vicious beasts in this dark forest started making a circle around them and the three demons looked to be completely helpless as their eyes widened in shock and horror.
"A demon must never be trusted," Daren spoke up as he clapped his hand once.
The beasts started growling as they glared at the three succubi.
"A demon is always going to break a promise," Daren continued with another clap and the beasts once again looked to be even more agitated as some got ready to jump at the three.
"A demon doesn't know virtues nor morals," Daren clapped for the third time and it was as if the beasts had finally got the signal that they had been waiting for.
Without wasting another second, the beasts lunged at the three succubi, ready to shred their bodies apart and devour their souls.
At first, the three succubi were able to fend themselves against the vicious creatures but in the end, they were still overpowered by a large margin and their fate rested in the hands of this man called Daren who felt no sympathy for them.
"A demon is ruled by negative emotions and all they know is how to deceive," Daren spoke and this time, he didn't clap as he simply folded his hands leisurely and watched the show.
"You damned bastard! Curse you and your whole family!" It was Beth who screamed as she fell down and got bitten by a creature that had been searching for a weak spot.
Daren chuckled as he heard this but said nothing.
The screams coming from the three got louder and louder but there was nobody coming to save them.
The more they shouted and cursed Daren, the louder the man laughed.
This wasn't something he did every day but he would still be lying if he said it wasn't something that he enjoyed doing.
The struggle only lasted for a few minutes till the screams and shouting had ended. The bodies had been torn apart and the soul had also been devoured ruthlessly.
Eventually, Daren's laughter also died down as everything ended.
With a sigh, Daren clapped and the beasts dispersed and disappeared into the thick forest that housed them.
"Alora, you better pay me for saving your ass," Daren muttered to himself although he was sure that the girl could not hear him.
