The next day, Alora was a bit worried as she headed out for her morning classes.
When she talked with Leon, the man had reassured her that he'd take care of everything by banishing the three succubi but he still said nothing about preventing them from harassing Alora in the human world.
In fact, not many demons were allowed to travel to the human world, and out of the three, only Mari was the one that had come down here to harass Alora.
Alora had said nothing about that to the prince so she was worried whether he would take care of it or not.
If he didn't manage to take care of it, Alora was not only going to her morning classes at the moment but was also heading straight to a torturous trap. She couldn't even imagine how Mari would want to take out her revenge on Alora for betraying them.
At this moment, the girl couldn't help but worry that she might have been a bit too hasty. It would have been better if she had actually taken some time to think things through.
However, luckily enough, there was no Mari waiting for her at the university and Alora was certainly a bit surprised to see that things had somehow worked out for the better.
In the end, she didn't even need to kill the three succubi who were simply banished.
She still worried about what happened to them but since they were no longer in front of her, she was sure that it wouldn't matter even if she started to forget them.
"You're late as usual," Daren commented as he smacked her on the back of her head with a book.
"Ow~" Alora whined as she turned around to face the man, "You're walking behind me. It's not like you're any better."
Daren shook his head and responded casually, "I came back from the library. I had a few things to take care of, unlike you."
Alora pouted as she heard this and with an unimpressed look, she mockingly repeated Daren's words in a rather funny manner, "I had a few things to take care of, unlike you~"
Daren once again shook his head with a sigh and walked ahead of the girl as he entered the classroom.
"Wait for me, busy guy!" Alora called out behind him as she picked up her pace.
"I'm a busy guy so I don't have time to wait around," Daren responded without even bothering to turn around.
"..." Alora pursed her lips unhappily but said nothing as a response to that.
The classes started as usual and half of the day went by just like that, with everything seeming a bit too normal.
The soft warm rays peeking through the curtains of the class almost seemed like a dream to Alora. It was so peaceful that it made Alora feel suspicious.
"It's weird," Alora muttered with a frown.
"What is?" Daren asked as he packed up the books neatly.
"Everything..." Alora replied without missing a beat as she snapped her head towards the window and glared at the sun outside.
Daren sighed, feeling a little exhausted as he asked, "Care to explain a bit more in detail?"
"I can't get it out of my mind...!" Alora spoke as her eyebrows creased together with worry, "Where the hell is Mari?!"
Daren almost choked on empty air as he heard this sudden question, but thankfully enough, he was able to control himself as he cleared his throat and asked, pretending to be calm, "What are you talking about? Didn't you say you'd be getting rid of her?"
"I did say that," Alora confirmed as she closed her eyes and nodded her head with honesty, "However, it's still weird. She's a demon so does being banished really not make her want to seek out revenge?"
Daren shrugged his shoulders as he heard this, "Maybe she just realized that she was the one in the wrong."
"She didn't seem like the type to do that," Alora shook her head as she spoke with a small frown, "I don't know what exactly happened to those three and for some reason, it is bothering me more than I had thought it would."
"I mean... You did make a plan on killing the three so it's probably your guilty conscious making you feel bad about it."
"Is it really just that?" Alora asked as she tilted her head innocently.
Daren sighed and shoved a book against her face as he covered her eyes that made him feel guilty.
"Don't think too much about it. You have one less problem to worry about, don't you?"
"You're right..." Alora sighed as she turned her head away and stretched her arms, whining, "But at what cost? I eventually got entangled in another problem that appears to be bigger."
"Eh?" Daren looked to be a little confused as he muttered.
"Oh, right...! I forgot to tell you about what happened yesterday!" Alora suddenly exclaimed with excitement and this time, Daren didn't look to be as disinterested as he patiently waited to hear more.
"The demon prince helped me banish the three succubi, but it wasn't exactly a favor. It was more like a deal. B-but, don't worry! I wasn't the one signing a deal with the demon! He was the one that agreed to my deal!" Alora explained as she defended herself.
Daren pursed his lips together into an unimpressed thin line as he heard this and he had the urge to remind the girl that it really didn't make a difference whether the contract was initiated by her or not. However, he controlled himself and said nothing as he let the girl talk.
"In exchange for helping me, he gave me a promotion."
"What type of promotion?" Daren's eyes twitched as he question and from the way the girl had narrated the rest of the story, he already had a bad feeling in his stomach about this promotion.
"A personal maid," Alora muttered under her breath without even daring to meet Daren's eyes.
"A what?" Daren asked as he didn't manage to hear her.
"A personal maid!" This time, Alora shouted as she repeated and the two best friends suddenly became the center of attention as their classmates snapped their heads and blankly stared at the girl, waiting for her to say some juicy gossip.
"In a game!" Alora took a minute and yelled as she broke the awkward silence.
Nobody looked to be interested anymore and they all went on to do their own things.
"Alora, I hope you are joking," Daren spoke, a bit too calmly as his eyes narrowed down on Alora.
"So do I," Alora sighed as she responded, "But unfortunately, reality is harsh and now I work part-time as Leon's maid."
"Then hand in your resignation and quit," Daren didn't even think about it as he replied.
"Is that even possible?" Alora asked as she seriously thought about it.
"There is no harm in trying."
Alora shook her head as she disagreed and spoke, "Actually, there is harm. What if it is considered to be a sin and I get trapped there forever...?!"
"It's not included in the seven deadly sins so I hardly doubt that," Daren spoke in a single breath as if he were more than sure of such a fact.
"But it would still be offending, don't you think?" Alora innocently asked.
"There is nothing offending about it. When you don't want a job, you quit."
Alora pouted as she heard this but said nothing as a response and Daren's expressions suddenly underwent a lot of changes as his eyes slowly widened in realization before it narrowed down on the girl in disbelief as his face started turning a little white.
"You want the job...?!"
"I don't!" Alora slammed her hands on the table and stood up as she replied a bit too strongly and quickly.
Daren frowned as he saw through the girl and asked, "Why would you want such a dangerous job? He's probably just trying to make trouble for you."
Alora sighed as she sat down and took a minute before she spoke, "With this job, he'll have to see me more and once we start getting closer, he is bound to remember me."
Daren fake gagged as he heard this and commented, "Don't make this sound like some disgusting fairytail love story."
"You're so unromantic~"
"And you are one to say?"
"..." Alora silently admitted defeat as she sighed and got back to the topic of conversation, "I have a bitter-sweet feeling about this."
"And I have an outright bad feeling about this," Daren rolled his eyes as he muttered.
"Although, I hate the chores, if I'm his personal maid, I might get to meet the other six princes of hell, won't I? That sounds exciting at least," Alora beamed optimistically.
"And why in the hell would you want to meet them?" Daren asked with a scoff.
"Because prince Leon is handsome."
Daren's face cringed up as he heard this, "And?"
"And the others might be even more handsome!" Alora exclaimed
"..." Daren didn't know if he wanted to cry or laugh as he heard this nonsense.
