Chapter 8 - workplace

Leila walked home after her first day at work, more confused than clarified. She had become someone's marked mate in an instant without her voluntary reaction. It was almost as though fate was working behind the scenes to bring her and Ryan together. That was definitely bizarre ad the only thing she could do now was wait until Ryan came back with an explanation for what had happened then.

Getting inside her house she sat as she thought about how handsome he had been. When she had changed, she been full of too much excitement, his presence made her feel protected. Like with him around, there was nothing to fear. And then of course she wanted to mate with him, more than she had ever wanted to.

She had of course grown among humans, some had of course hit on he but at those times, she had felt disgusted when imagining herself being with them. She had even managed to convince herself that she wasn't meant to know love. Because it seemed as though the people around her were dating but she wasn't. Besides, this condition was favorable for her because she could not date with her condition. She was an animal, could a man sane enough stay with someone who changed into an animal every full moon.

She missed home. The woods back home had been the perfect racing space, even though she raced by herself in the dark of the night. The feel of the fresh musky air, the soft ground beneath, the rustling of leaves beneath her feet, was incomparable. She had been able to hunt, and to be honest, nothing on earth could replace the thrill of a good hunt. The only issue had been she had to tread softly just in case someone saw her and discovered her secret.

She did feel lonely, she did not have close friends with whom she could talk to or discuss girly stuff. Calling home, she found out that her mom was in the hospital because of a heart attack. That had to have been the worst news she could receive. She loved that woman as though she was her biological mom because she had never given up on her. Even when she had not understood the changes happening within her.

That call made her feel even more alone and could not help but think of Ryan. What would being friends with him feel like. He was a god on earth, sculpted like the Greek gods, tall and lanky, washboard abs, as she had seen through his clothing. He was someone who knew his way around a woman's body, she was sure. Why she was so overly attracted to him however baffled her. It was as though she had been wired in her mind that she would only like Ryan. Her mind heart and soul all agreed that they liked him.

Tonight, she would sleep and relax, hopefully she would not have to experience the same weird dream again, or do something involuntarily while in a dream. It would be too weird. For the next three days, she had worked Ryan had been nowhere to be seen and that had worried her. Thankfully she had made quite some friends in the office. They of course bonded during lunchtime, her bubbly friend filling in the silence.

It was good to be among friends. In as much she could not talk about some sensitive things, the were people that she could go for shopping with, because she really liked looking good. It was almost as though since she turned, her whole mindset about dressing changed overnight. She wanted good clothes; her physique was important to her as well.

She worked out regularly and as a result, she had a body she loved. Not just because she was a wolf or anything, but because she did work for her body. People had their own weird thinking perspectives and she listened to all them, it was as though her mind was opened to a broad new range of ideas. For her now, she could not even consider anything like having a writer's block. No, she felt excited to write, the only thing was she really hated typing for all her love for writing books. Maybe she would get a hang of things with time.

This morning, she walked in, dressed yet in one of her black skinny trousers paired with a bright top, and white canvas shoes. She felt confident and maybe today, Ryan would come back with answers. If she was honest with herself, she had thought of him more than she had ever thought of any man. It was as though her mind was infected with a disease called Ryan. His everything mesmerized her in her thoughts. His blonde wavy hair, his hypnotizing eyes, his raspy, hot heavy voice, his lips. It was as though every part of him was meant to act like an object of seduction in her mind. If someone got inside there, they probably not be able to sleep for days.

On this day, after a few hours spent into work, Enoch, Ryan's assistant called to ask her to go up to the boss's office. Shutting down everything, she walked briskly to the elevator and pinched the topmost floor on the lift. The elevator moved speedily across the floors until the doors chimed right outside Enoch's office. Enoch looked at her intensely and in a weird way until closed the door behind her into Ryan's office.

"So, umm what's with your assistant Enoch?" Leila asked immediately she got inside his office. God, she looked breathtaking. Had it only been three days that he had met her, it felt like he had known her for his entire life. He had actually missed her which was weird considering he had only known her for a short while.
