For the past few days, Leila had been having a recurrent nightmare every time she slept. She would see herself closed off in a house, which was covered in something like a net. She sat there in the darkness, while holding her legs in a cramped position. She was crying and when she moved her hand to the ground, she touched something soft and mushy. Something cold, and by coincidence, light happened to shine on her hands. They were full of blood. This was what woke her up sweating.
It felt as though the peace she had known had only been but an illusion. Her life was on the brink of a major change. She could feel something ominous brewing within her spirit. Danger, change, it all felt suffocating. This had been exactly even more pronounced since her last date with Ryan.
Speaking of Ryan. Damn that man was handsome. He had actually taken her on her word and pursued her like a girl ought to. They went to a classic hotel that afternoon for their lunch. While there, they talked and talked and she found herself enjoying their conversation pretty much. All through he was such a gentleman that she was even surprised. The meal had been delicious, and through it all she came to realize that he was actually an interesting man.
It was at this point that she could not help her herself. She had to know if there was something he was hiding. "Ryan, I have a feeling that there is something that you are hiding from me. Please just be clear with me. For a long time, I have lived a life covered in lies and if you are able to give me some closure on some things, I'd like to know it." Leila said as she shifted in her seat nervously.
Ryan could feel the wheels turning in his head. Maybe he really should tell her what the hell was going on. She would be his wife in any case, and that meant that he should trust her as he did trust himself. She was no spy nor was she someone against them. "Okay Leila, this is the thing. Actually, what I'm about to say is highly confidential and cannot be heard by anyone.
This is because it is something that affects not only the wolfdom but also the world. In the history of werewolves, there is the existence of special people who take a lead and bring major changes. This includes people like seers, healers, and even witches. They have been known to bring growth and prosperity to the pack they reside in."
"Okay, Ryan, I get you but what does all this have to do with me?" Leila asked as she tried to make sense of things. "Here is the thing, those are just the common helpers, there is one who only appears after a very long time, and she is the strongest of them all. A savior, she is accompanied by a lot of mystery. Like during this time, when she was born, every wolf witnessed it. The sky had the morning star during the day, with other stars surrounding it.
This had of course been prophesied from time of old. So, when I went home and told my parents about the weird way, I marked you, it sparked their curiosity. They researched and apparently, only one other person was known to have been surrounded by such peculiar events. The last savior. She had been marked by a wolf while separated by a pretty big distance. That had us thinking, with your current age, you are the closest to a savior that we have known. And again, with the weird way our marking appeared, it appears that you are not just a normal wolf.
What If you are the savior? That would have a lot of implications, which is why my parents actually wanted to meet you. If it's okay with you, I would like to organize for a day we go meet them please." Ryan finished his talk and turned to look at her. she looked at him as though she was looking at someone stupid. Like he had grown some imaginary horns that he did not know about.
"You mean to tell me that all that imaginary fantasy is true Ryan, come on you have got to be serious. A savior, what is this all about? are you trying to just joke with me or something. Even if you did not want to tell me what you were really hiding, you should have sought something more convincing." Leila said feeling disgusted with him. Why would he choose to make up something like that? As if they were living in a fairy tale. Outside of reality.
"Listen up Leila, I do not lie, and why would you think that I am lying to you. What would I gain by lying to you now? I can be anything else, but I'm not a liar Leila. You can either choose to believe or not." With that, Ryan stood and pushed his seat back. He looked pissed off while Leila now started to take time to really think through what she had insinuated. She had trampled over his honor, and like he asked why would he lie to her.
That evening when she went home, it was almost as if her mind was infected, she could not even think anymore. Guilt was eating her up so much that she had trouble sleeping. In her heart she felt that she should not have talked to him that way. She should have even questioned whatever he had told her in a more subtle way. She did not even know why she had felt that he was lying to her.
