Closing the door behind her as she got into Ryan's office, she walked towards him and sat. "I'm sorry, what did my assistant do?" Ryan asked as he fixed his potent stare down at her. Clearing her throat, she opened her mouth to talk and as embarrassing as it was, she had to speak twice to be audible. It was as though her vocal cords were cut or sand had been put on her mouth.
Ryan chose that time to stand and sit at the front of his desk just next to her chair. Gripping her chair, he turned it such that they were now facing each in opposite places. Winking, Ryan bend closer to her. "Miss Leila, do you know that you are now my wife." Ryan said as he faced her. Those words of course had her world start tilting. "Mr. Ryan, you have to stop spouting nonsense. You do know why I am here and it is serious." Leila said as she struggled to hide the grin that was beginning to form on her lips.
"So yes, I did go home, tried looking into what could really have happened between the two of us and because of how peculiar this had been, I decided to ask my parents. They actually want to see you. Besides that, I actually think we should start accepting the fact that fate brought us together and that we are meant to be soulmates. It may not be easy to accept, but we should try and make things more comfortable between us."
"Uhm sir, you do know that what you are saying does not actually make sense. We have known each other for how long. For now, I am our worker, you cannot just expect things to work like that." Leila said as she shifted her focus from him. Now that she thought of it, it felt natural to be with him and to talk to him. Like they had known each other since forever. But when she thought of normal logic, people were supposed to first go on a date and then finally they could move to the next step.
"Are you really sure that is what you want Leila. Can't you feel this overwhelming attraction running between us." Ryan asked as he passed his hand through his hair, leaving it messed up. "Of course, I feel it and I know that you have already marked me but so what, you want me, then you have to work for me." Leila said as she threw a flirtatious look at him.
Ryan felt his heart skip and he could not help but really want to mate with her. But he was going to respect her wishes. He would court her so well that she would never ever want any other person. Besides, who was to say he did not like a good challenge placed at his feet. He would do this thing and emerge victorious, with her as his most precious prize.
"Okay we will do this your way. Speaking of which, would you mind going for lunch with me today?" Leila felt her heart speed at his intimate talk. "No, I would not mind having lunch with you Ryan." Leila said as she turned and moved out of the office, almost stumbling in the process. Getting out, she was met with the stare of Enoch and she could not help but wonder what was wrong with him. She walked to the elevator down to her cubicle. Immediately she got there, Mary, the bubbly one came accosting her with a string of questions.
She just found herself laughing at her tactics, besides she just looked so cute it was impossible to assume her. "relax baby girl I will tell you what happened, though I don't know whether you can keep it a secret."
"A secret please, please no secret," she said as she laughed. "You do know how talkative I am I would possibly talk about it without my knowledge."
"I know and I promise not to make you bound by such a thing. How about we get back to work and write till our bones dry."
"Ha-ha speaking of which, I have just been talking haven't done anything useful all morning." Mary said as she moved smoothly to her desk. The way she walked with fluidity you would not even know that she was big. And she of course loved herself the way she was. Always excited, you could trust her to lift your spirits at any moment. She was however, a terrific writer. She always managed to get drawn in her writing, coming up with characters who gripped you. She could write in such a captivating manner, that just as she talked, once you started on her books, you could not stop it.
As she sat on her desk, she thought about everything. Things seemed to be happening in a manner that left her mouth dry. In a span of a few days, she was well on her way with a soulmate, a job oh and wait, Ryan had not really given her the answers she had been seeking. He just happened to skim around it. It was as though he was hiding something now that she thought of it. When they went out for lunch, she would make to ask. Could it be that there was something big that he could not tell her?
It was moments like this that made her question her origins, where did she come from, where were her parents, how did she end up with her parents. It was a mystery, though it always felt as though the path to those questions were veiled and try as much as she could, she couldn't get the answers. Did she have to have so much mystery surrounding her. It was frustrating.
