Chereads / Heart of Ruby (Old version) / Chapter 27 - - Consequences

Chapter 27 - - Consequences

As Will lay there unmoving, princess Kessia sat up and looked at him with her eyes, which seemed to contain the whole universe.

She had been put into an indescribable state of peace when Will used his qi on her. He had healed her injuries, but also exhausted himself in the process. Then, the king, Kessia's father, was so happy that he triggered the sensitivity to emotion that was contained in Will, and ended up making him pass out and draining his heart's power.

As a result of this, Will's wings had melted into a puddle and burned through solid stone, and his hair and eyes had become pitch black, as if they were a black hole, sucking in all life.

At this moment, although the king was still happy that his daughter was safe, he now noticed her eyes, which seemed calm enough to settle the most raging storm. When he looked into her eyes, he felt an indescribable feeling of peace that would end up calming him too.

When she sat up, she looked at Will, who was now laying on the floor. She knew what had to be done. Some of the ruby power which Will used had been placed in her body while healing her. She decided to redirect this energy out of her body to save Will from his current state. At this moment, his heart's energy had been completely consumed and he was truly dying due to lack of the heart's power, therefore making his blood not flow, slowly stifling the life out of him.

Kessia slowly got out of the bed, and sat next to Will on the ground.

She tried to sense the unknown power which had entered her body. This power was, of course, the power of Will's heart.

As she managed to find this power, she quickly guided the power into her own qi, after which she directed it out of her body, going through the air in a stream not nearly as controlled as Will's streams of qi. This qi was plain white, but contained a miniscule amount of red in it. This red was the power of Will's ruby heart, which he had used to save her.

As the qi entered into Will's body, it was quickly absorbed, after which it simply disappeared. There was no trace of the qi, nor the power of Will's heart.

However, despite there being no response, everyone noticed that one single strand of Wills hair had turned a very faint red, after which his body regained some of its color.

Slowly, the rest of that strand of hair started to become red, with it eventually turning fully red.

Seeing this, everyone was sure that Will would be ok given enough time to recover.

Then, Kessia's eyes slowly returned to their normal loving nature. Apparently, the state of peace from WIll's qi was limited. However, she was not disappointed as she was simply happy to be saved from the horrible poison.

They then moved Will into a room where he would stay until he recovered. They weren't worried about him eating or something similar, because Old Man Dai had told them that he needed neither food nor drink to survive, and that all he did in his free time was cultivate or meditate.

A few days later, Will's hair was half red, and half void black. At this time, he woke up. However, the first thing he noticed when he woke up was that he couldn't see. He tried blinking and rubbing his eyes, every solution he could think of, but his vision had simply gone.

This was the consequence of using too much of his heart's power. He was now blind.
