Chereads / Heart of Ruby (Old version) / Chapter 31 - - Betrayal

Chapter 31 - - Betrayal

As Old Man Dai yelled, "What the hell is happening here?" Will was approaching the dead bodies on the ground, which were now leaking a sticky black transparent liquid. This was their blood, and it looked just as ghastly as they did, and even though Will could not see it, he could feel an emanating aura of intense hate, as if they were still alive.

Even though they were dead, he still couldn't believe how quickly the battle had ended. Within a minute, both of the intruders at the silver core realm, supreme experts, were dead on the ground with gaping holes in their chests after screaming in mortal terror at the sight of the qi which Will merely used to cultivate.

This was simply too strange, and no one would believe it unless they had seen it with their own eyes.

What was even more strange, was the fact that, even though one of them had hit Will's wings full force and even used spiritual power, all that happened was a slight movement in his wings. It should be noted that even the slightest bit of spiritual power would be enough to shatter solid stone, breaking it down to dust in an instant, let alone the full force of someone fully exerting their spiritual power.

This astonished Will, as it had shown him just how powerful his heart was, and how special each of the techniques he received from it were.

Old Man Dai did not bother with Will, who was currently bending down next to the corpses, seemingly deep in thought. Instead, he quickly approached Kessia and gave her her clothes, which had been thrown onto the bed.

He could very clearly see the pure terror in her eyes as she looked at the corpses on the ground. This was the closest she had ever been to death. Even closer than when she was poisoned by the city master of hidden valley. He also noticed the small cut on her face, under her left eye, but paid it no mind as it was an incredibly small cut and could be healed in just a moment with the help of a healing pill.

What he didn't notice was that there was an extremely small amount of her blood crystallizing around the wound, but nowhere else. This was the same thing that happened to Will's blood, but it happened at less than one one-thousandth of the speed at which it happened to Will. Because of this, no one noticed it.

After getting her her clothes, Old Man Dai asked her what happened here, and it was at this time that she removed her eyes from the two corpses for the first time. He could see the panic in her eyes, but she still answered nevertheless, although she had a tremor in her voice.

She quickly explained what happened, along with the fact that Will was blind, even though she knew that Old Man Dai already knew this.

Hearing that Will killed them singlehandedly and how he did it, Old Man Dai could not help feeling astonished. He knew that Will's qi was astonishingly dangerous, but he had no idea of how dangerous it truly was. He had seen someone get burned by it before, but he had no idea that it could so easily outclass even spiritual power.

He very clearly knew how strong spiritual power was, being advisor to the king, so he could not help being astonished even further. It seemed that he had severely underestimated Will and his oddities.

Will was already by far the strangest person he had ever met, but now he was certain that he would never meet anyone as strange as Will ever again. Firstly, Will had red hair and eyes, although he now had pearl colored eyes because of his blindness. Secondly, he had those ruby wings which seemed to be completely indestructible even to those at the silver core realm. Thirdly, there was the fact of his incredible cultivation method that not only used one unique qi, but two, and one of these qis was so dangerous that it could kill those at the silver core realm without struggle, while the other one could heal someone so quickly that it eliminated one of the most deadly poisons that he knew within a matter of seconds, and even increased the cultivation of the person being healed at the same time, by three whole levels!! Additionally, there was the fact of him being sensitive to emotions, even to the point that he could be seriously injured and even brought to the brink of death by it. Finally, this was all topped of by the fact of he was a mysterious boy who had never appeared before, and had even never cultivated before this.

If these things didn't add up to strange, then nothing did.

In addition to this, Old Man Dai could clearly see that these people who were in the silver core realm had practiced the way of evil, and they were especially strong since the simple air of evil they emitted was stronger than the aura of the king. This meant that they were much stronger than the king and that he wouldn't be close to a match for them in a fight.

This meant that Will was much stronger than the king by at least two levels, and possibly even as strong as 3 levels higher. There were only seven levels in the silver core realm, so three levels of strength higher would give the person an absolute advantage over the opponent.

The king of Scorching Sun kingdom was only at the beginning of the first level of the silver core realm, but he was still the overlord in this area based on the pure disparity in strength between the spirit realm and the silver core realm.

These intruders who practiced evil were at the second level of the silver core realm, one level higher than the king. However, although it was only one level difference, they could easily overpower the king if they encountered him, and they could even kill him.

This was the way of the world. The strong did as they pleased while the weak had to put up with it and simply try to survive.

Thinking about this, Old Man Dai simply sighed and proceeded to help calm down Kessia, who was still in a panic after the near death experience. She had never in her life been more scared than she was now, even though the threat was already gone. What he didn't expect, was that when he tried to take her out of the room, she refused to leave, saying that Will made her feel safe.

This was a reasonable response, as without Will, she not only would be dead, but she also would have been violated before that as well, and no one would even know about it until the king got back and went to see her.

In fact, the entire castle could have been destroyed by those evil cultivators. Evil cultivators lived for destruction, death, and violation. They were by all means evil and twisted, not caring for anyone but themselves and committing the most horrible of things.

Will was truly the only thing which could make her feel safe at this moment, and nothing would convince her to leave the area where he was.

Considering this, Old Man Dai only thought for a moment before concluding that she was simply scared and needed the comfort of someone or something that she could trust to protect her, and now, that person was Will.

Meanwhile, as Will was sitting next to the bodies, he realized that he could feel a slight feeling of admiration coming from behind him. This feeling only intensified by the moment, and he quickly figured out that it was coming from Kessia, who was now sitting on the bed and staring at him.

However, this small amount of admiration was still being overwhelmed by the feeling of fear and panic, along with the emotions of hate and even love. Yes, she was feeling love!!!

As Will continued to 'listen' to her feelings, he realized something. People had emotions, this was obvious. However, he never realized how many emotions could be felt at the same time, and how intense they were could even drown each other out.

She was feeling love for Will, but he realized that she probably didn't even notice because of the intense fear that she felt just moments ago, along with the flood of admiration that she felt for him. Most likely, she thought that this love she felt for him was simply part of her admiration.

Emotions were something that everyone felt, even if they didn't show it or acknowledge it. It was something that couldn't be avoided. If someone felt no emotions, then it would simply be impossible for them to be human.

As he realized this, he once again felt a slight feeling as if his heart was evolving, but it once again stopped within half a second.

As he felt the emotions around him, he realized that he could feel the presence of every emotion he could imagine, but it was just in different amounts. Some were nearly nonexistent, such as the feeling of hatred, but he could still feel them even though they were discreet. This infinitely small amount of hatred came from Kessia, but she was not actively 'releasing' it. It was simply emitting from her, as if she herself didn't know that she was angry.

Thinking about this, he went over to Kessia, and simply asked, "Why are you angry?" then sat on the bed next to her.

Kessia was baffled for a moment, but then searched her feelings and realized that she was slightly angry. She quickly remembered why, and it was something that quickly made the anger radiating from her come out in a flood, enveloping the whole room almost instantly.

With a bone-chilling voice, she said, "I was betrayed," she said as this flood of anger swept through the room.
