Chapter 32 - - Shadow Devil Kingdom

"I was betrayed," Kessia said, knowing that she could likely hide nothing from Will anyway. He was far too mysterious for her to understand him, and there was no reason to hide it from him anyway, seeing that he had saved her not once but twice already!

Hearing this, Will could not help being astonished. Who could have betrayed her to make her feel such deep hate? However, this hate only masked the sadness and fear that she was feeling. Fear that someone would betray her again, and sadness because the person who had betrayed her was very close to her.

There were so many complicated emotions, it seemed as if it wouldn't be possible to experience that many feelings at once. However, they were all ever present, and only growing stronger with every passing moment.

This was the capability of the heart. It could compose a symphony of emotions, some audible, some not, yet they all came together to make up an immense symphony. Will called this the 'symphony of the heart'. Listening to this 'symphony of the heart,' Will couldn't help feeling astonished. Kessia had not yet said a word of what happened to her, but he felt as if he could almost understand himself what she had gone through.

Emotions were like music. Anyone could listen to them, but not many people could truly understand what went into them. What emotions went into making a song determined its outcome. All songs have multiple parts. Some parts were so quiet that you could barely hear them, but without them, the song becomes bland. Emotions are the same way as you simply cannot only feel one emotion at a time.

In every person that felt admiration, there was jealousy. In every person that felt hate, there was fear. In every person that felt love, there was fear. These feelings came from the reason that they felt such emotions. In the case of love, the person was afraid of losing the thing they love. In the case of admiration, they were jealous that they couldn't be like the person or thing that they admired.

In this way, it was simply impossible to only feel one emotion at a time. As such, emotions formed a symphony, with some parts too quiet to hear, but still impossibly important to the song as a whole.

At this moment, Kessia was not only feeling hate, but also fear, disgust, sadness, emptiness, and even feeling lost. She was betrayed by someone close to her; someone she never thought would betray her.

Will figured that this person had to be someone like a family member, or someone like Old Man Dai, who would never betray someone. However, if this person was so close to her, why would they try to kill her? And they even went so far as to hire an assassin to kill her?

Who could be so close to her that it even left her feeling lost?

Will could only hold these questions burning in his mind as he sat there, waiting for her to explain. However, to his surprise, she did not explain. Instead, she sat there, with her anger vanishing and instead being replaced by fear, as she sat there, looking at the corpses on the ground, which were now being inspected by Old Man Dai.

"You've had a tough night. Get some sleep," Said Will apologetically as he looked at Kessia with pity. She truly had been through a lot, and if Will had not been there, she would have not only died, but before that, she would have been violated as well.

She then lied down, but the feeling of fear radiating from her did not become any less, nor did she fall asleep. Seeing this, Will used the same method he used to heal her to direct the peaceful qi into her body, but this time, he used not even one one hundredth of the amount of qi, leading her to calm down and eventually sleep.

This was a natural ability that all cultivators had. They could direct their qi into another person, but no one ever used it because there was no purpose behind it other than to slightly speed up the other person's cultivation at the cost of your own advancement.

However, it was different with Will as he had long ago discovered that his qi had unique properties, and that it was infinitely stronger than other qi, along with the fact that it was extremely dangerous.

Usually, no matter how strong someone's cultivation qi was, it would not hurt in the slightest even if an entire torrent of it was directly slammed against their body. However, one drop of Will's qi of hope was so strong that it could not only hurt someone, but also burn through their body quickly, and with enough of it, he could directly and instantly kill someone that was at the second level of the silver core realm. His qi that he merely used for cultivation was stronger than even spiritual power which was used by those at the silver core realm to increase their power by tens of times to even hundreds of times.

Thinking about this, he could not help but decide that he owed his entire life and all his future to his ruby heart, which had been bestowed upon him by a goddess.

Pushing these thoughts aside for now, Will approached Old Man Dai, who was now standing over the bodies and was seemingly in thought.

"Who are they?" Asked Will, clearly curious as to why two people of such strength would come to a mere scorching sun kingdom.

Despite the immense size of the kingdom, it was merely the lowest of the kingdoms in this world. There were countless forces stronger than them. The scale of this world was simply that everything here was absolutely massive, but if you were strong enough, it would only take a little while to travel across it. Take Will for example, who could fly so fast that he could probably reach the end of the kingdom in mere days. Someone at the silver core realm could probably do it in a short three days! The only reason that it took him so long to get to the center of the kingdom was that he was traveling with a group of soldiers who were only at the foundational realm, who needed to eat and sleep, leading their journey to be extremely long.

"They are assassins who take joy in killing people, and once the person is in their grasp, they usually would violate that person if they did not have someone stronger than them protecting them. Vile people from the kingdom of shadow devils. Shadow Devil Kingdom is a force which follows the path of immense evil, encouraging their disciples to go out into the world and commit countless atrocities," Said Old Man Dai with disgust clearly evident on his face.

"Shadow Devil Kingdom is a force which trains its disciples with the Shadow Devil body technique, hence their shadow-like bodies, which are immensely suited towards assassinations and atrocities such as what happened tonight. They sometimes go out to weaker kingdoms such as this one to commit those atrocities without consequence, and those that get in their way usually are killed by their hands. However, they were extremely unlucky to run into you, someone who's strength far exceeds your realm, having extraordinary abilities."

"You overestimate me," Said Will humbly. However, it was true. Old Man Dai had overestimated him. Although he was immensely strong for his realm, it was truly the strength of his qi alone which had killed the people of Shadow Devil Kingdom. If not for the burning power of the qi of hope, he would have died himself as well. As strong as the defence of his wings was, it was merely because the Shadow Devil kingdom people had underestimated their might and strength that he managed to shatter the hand of one of them and break their weapons.

The one that had punched him had no weapon, but still caused his wings to shiver. He was certain that, if he had his weapon, his wings would likely have shattered under that attack. At the fourth stage of the spirit realm, one could imbue their weapons with the strength of their inner breath. At the silver core realm, this effect was further intensified, and the strength of the attack with a weapon would likely triple or even quadruple the power of their attack as opposed to the increase of one and a half times at the spirit realm. Added onto the already immense power of an attack from someone at the silver core realm, Will was sure that someone like the ones he had killed today could easily kill them with their weapons in hand when they attacked him, and he would not have had the chance to kill them with his incredibly dangerous red qi of hope.

"The world truly is dangerous," Said Will under his breath, finally realizing just how dangerous someone at the level of the now dead Shadow Devils was.
