Edna watched Oliver as he stormed off with shaky legs. She came down and dismissed the glowing lights while standing from her squatting position.
"That brat is even more of a head case than Nel, I should really deal with him now before it gets out of hand" she said to herself.
The next day Oliver woke up with a smile on his face. Nel returned late last night and he was too tired to talk to him. He could do that today but that wasn't close to the reason he was thrilled.
He could fully utilize his new skill today, it wouldn't be hard to figure people out and since it was going to be a physical activity and the test subject would be there.
"I'm can't wait" Oliver said as he got dressed and packed some random books in his bag. He preferred recording his classes and listening to them when he wanted even since highschool.
His sister had initially not accepted the idea because she felt it was an absurd thing in a class, and maybe because she was an editor she liked taking notes. But later she decided to let it go, the school wasn't complaining since Oliver was one of their best student and he seemed comfortable that way.
The books he packed were mostly novels. Most of which were bought by his sister, some of them were even published in their company. They served as good accompanies during his free time.
He paused for a moment, yesterday had been so hectic that he couldn't concentrate during most of his lessons because of the distraction of hearing what people were thinking.
He looked around and finally found his head phones, 'This should work' he thought putting it in before walking out of his room.
He saw Edna waiting for him by the door side. She looked strange and stared at him for a while without saying anything. 'Is she still angry because of yesterday?' Oliver thought and just when he was about to say something she spoke
"Let's start our training today" Oliver looked at her a bit confused and slowly nodded his head "Sure"
He started leaving after she didn't reply before she stopped him.
"I said we should start today, then where are you going?" she asked.
"....Wait you don't mean right now?"
"Why not? You are eager to learn and I am ready to teach"
Oliver sighed before saying, "I am busy right now. I have to go to lessons, we could probably create a time table for this to make more convenient. But right now I have to go, I am almost late" he said before leaving Edna who just acted indifferent.
On his way to the hall they were having the lessons he saw Kelly already waiting for him. She looked a bit surprised
"I thought you wouldn't come at all or at best you would come late" she said with a smile.
"Well" Oliver replied as they both walked towards the class "I always keep my word"
She chuckled lightly before replying "That sounds safe. Anyway, today class is gonna be majorly interactive, no research strings tied to it. Are you up for it?"
Oliver smiled broadly while lost in his own thoughts,
"Interactive, I like the sound of that" he replied.
Oliver opened the door to Nel's house in a fit of anger. Apart from the test, nothing had gone accordingly to his plans. He kept making mistakes while hearing people's thought and even got dismissed from one lesson.
There was only one thing on his mind right now and that was he had to work on this until he could control it properly.
Hopefully Edna would help him with that in addition to the training. So after all of Oliver's lectures ended that day he went to Nel's house looking forward to Edna's training. She was sat alone arranging a pile of papers when he walked up to her. "I am back now, let's start" he said.
She didn't respond for a while before turning to stare at him
"I am busy, what about another time?" she replied.
Oliver looked at her strangely before saying
"Sure" he walked back to his room and waited until she would call him before eventually falling asleep.
"Did she forget to call me?" he said to himself. The same process went on for three days with Edna claiming that she was occupied until Oliver finally broke down.
He went to meet her where she just laid down with her eyes closed.
"You aren't busy now, can we get this over with?" he asked with frustration clearly denoted in his voice.
"Can't you see I'm trying to sleep?" she asked with her eyes still closed.
Oliver sighed and strained hard before saying
"Okay, I get what you're trying to do. You were upset because of that day I told you I was busy. I've understood okay but I also need to attend to some things and it isn't like I would do nothing apart from this" he said in a rushed tone.
Edna opened her eyes and sat up looking straight at him before replying
"I wasn't angry or anything"
"Then why do you keep shutting me off?"
"Because you are not 'ready'.." she said with emphasis on ready.
"I am more than ready for this" he said and was about to say another thing before he felt himself being thrown.
