"I am a killer and you are my target.... you little fox!" the woman said when she saw that Hilde was close to taking the stick. She hit her again and this time it was more brutal than the first attack.
Hilde crawled on the ground and stretched her hand towards the stick only for her to get her hands stepped on by the woman.
"Did you really think you could try out your little tricks on me?" she sneered before releasing another wave of energy which sent debilitating pain through out Hilde's body.
It kept sweeping through her causing her breath to slowly seep away and just then in that moment she felt something different from the pain run through her body.
It was invigorating and was like taking a hot bath in winter. The woman staggered backwards releasing Hilde's hands in the process. Even though she was confused as to what is happening she quickly seized that opportunity to pick up the hockey stick which stood in front of her.
The woman looked at her in surprise and the smoky creatures quickly appeared protecting the woman.
"How did you?....." the rest of the words got stuck in her throat as she watched the dazzling blue light engulf Hilde chasing away the smoky creatures which left as soon as it came.
She didn't even have any idea of how she suddenly felt strong or Why this woman stared at her in bewilderment but she quickly used the chance to attack her when she was still distracted.
'Please work' she prayed inwardly as she held the hockey stick more firmly before she suddenly felt it. Like a strong wave the hockey stick sent the woman flying backwards roughly and crashing on several piles of books arranged on the shelf.
The woman stood back up almost as immediately as she fell and wiped off the blood that oozed from her mouth
"Not bad. It has been a long time since I had a proper fight with someone anyway, I could just use this chance to see how good I've gotten" she said and rushed towards Hilde hitting her hard which caused both of them to fall.
She held Hilde's neck sitting over her and Hilde tried to push her away. When Hilde saw she wasn't budging she pulled her hair with every strength she could gather which caused the woman to yelp in pain while letting go of her hold on Hilde.
Hilde quickly dashed for the stick but the woman threw it out of her hands and shattered it before attacking Hilde again. Hilde felt her head spinning as she hit the floor for the fourth time that morning. Now she could really do nothing rather than wait for her death.
There was no other thing that could qualify for a weapon in her room apart from that hockey stick that met it's end just few seconds ago.
"What was that?" asked the woman in a very annoyed tone. "Was that all you got? Even with the lights and all? I guess I got excited for no reason then. Your skills her worth less than a tinker's cuss" she said and laughed at her remark before going on.
Hilde who couldn't even hear half of what the woman was saying and couldn't digest the ones she heard just laid there using every strength in her body to breath. 'This woman was talking too much' she thought. 'Why do villains always talk too much just when they were about to take down their enemies?_
Was it a way of showing off? Both in the countless numbers of books she had read and even right at this moment. Their rantings only give their opponents time to think, act and hope. And that was what she was doing right now, the only thing she could out of those three options....hoping.
That someway, someone somewhere somehow would come to save her but it wasn't happening. Even after the woman had finished and was walking towards her. Every step she took lasted longer than forever to Hilde who wished she would stop in her tracks and maybe.... leave?.
Funny, she could still joke like this in her last moments. For a while she closed her eyes wished that all this was a dream and that her life was normal like everyone else.
She thought of her parents and wondered if they would recognize her in the after life. Time seemed to stop that moment even if it only was for her and just then she heard a voice screaming in pain. It was such a deafening sound that even in her near death state she could not fight the urge to open her eyes.
She did slowly and painfully as she watched in her blurry vision. The woman was on her knees and she seemed to be in pain as she used her palms to hold her head. She was the one screaming......how?
'What happened?' she thought to herself before hearing her name faintly. "Are you okay?"
The voice asked and it sounded like a whisper to her as she passed out.
Hilde opened her eyes slowly waking up and at first all she could see was blurred and colored white
'Is this the after life?' she thought. She was lying on a bed in a largely spaced room. When her vision became more clear she realized that she wasn't in her house and her body was in a better shape than even before she was attacked.
"What.....? How...?" she muttered before the door opened to reveal Hyde standing with a white mug in his hand.
He came in and walked towards Hilde who couldn't still believe what happened.
"Take this" he said stretching the cup towards her. She collected it and drank the contents quickly, she didn't realize how thirsty she had been.
"Do you feel better now?" he asked. She dropped the cup and tried to find her voice for a while before responding
"Yes but, how did I get here?.....umm no what happened?"
