Hyde sighed picking up the cup and putting it in the tray before replying to her question.
"I don't know how but I suddenly felt that you were in danger somehow. This is a new feature so I will try to find something on it. But there is something else, when I came to your house I could feel strong magical presence" he said looking at her.
She adjusted before saying, "It was probably from that woman, she is definitely very strong" she nodded her head while talking to emphasize on the fact that she was sure.
Hyde leaned backward away from her while narrowing his eyes, "right it was supposed to be from her but they were against each other" he said and paused before continuing in an amused tone "You don't think she was attacking herself right?"
Hilde stared at him in silence for a while before laughing sarcastically, "It is not so bad to hear such a funny joke after waking up from a near death experience" she muttered under her breath. Hyde looked indifferent and she suddenly felt that it wasn't a joke.
'He doesn't really think that I....' she blinked several times out of surprise and asked
"Wait.... you don't really think that I could do that. You saw the state I was in when you came right?"
"I really don't think you were the one 'maybe' , but on second thought it was even more unbelievable for you to be in the state you were. Not that you aren't good though" he quickly added making Hilde scoff before snapping in annoyed tone
"What exactly are you trying to imply?"
"You weren't by chance using your powers right?"
Hilde couldn't hide the disbelief on her face, she was definitely not expecting that question from him. How could he think in such a way after she saw what happened to him that day. She tried to act as calm as possible, she only used a weapon anyway so she had nothing to feel guilty about.
"I didn't and besides wouldn't you know if I used it?" she asked
"I can't know if you used it or not because there is nothing to use from me. Whoever it is you used from wouldn't even realize it at once but as time goes on it will weaken that person to an extent that he wouldn't be able to assess his powers again. That is how dangerous it is" he replied.
Hilde nodded in understanding as she watched him stand up to leave.
"Wait.." she called before she could even think about what she wanted to say.
Hyde stopped and turned to look at her questioningly but she didn't say anything. "What is it?" he asked.
"Umm.... I.. wanted to ask you what you did to that woman. Did you kill her?"
"I can't do things like that with my powers" he replied with a brief smile but Hilde was even more confused.
"Then what happened? She seemed to be in a terrible state from the little I was able to see"
Hyde stopped what he was doing then looked up and hummed before looking back at her. His next words made Hilde almost return to the faint she just woke up from
"I made her lose her mind"
"..."
Silence
Hilde blinked a few times totally blown off, 'made her lose her mind' whatever she knew that meant was definitely not what he was talking about. Did she lose her mind literally? is that even possible?
Hyde watched her and for some reason she felt he was reading her thoughts which irritated her.
She has to work on this, he will never change. Suddenly he stood to leave again before saying
"I know you wouldn't understand"
"I think I get it" she paused before adding "but I don't"
"Forget it then. But you definitely know the fact that you can't leave here right?" He asked in what sounded like more of a statement. Hilde wasn't taken aback as she had expected this, she just had to come up with an excuse at the office. But what if Helen wanted to see her?
"Can I really not go? I will just stay in my house without coming out. Or you can give me another glassbead" she said only to earn a glare from Hyde followed by a series of scoldings.
"If you are so keen on dying you can try leaving here. Do you think that anyone would be that stupid? After seeing what we can do, he won't use the same method anymore" he said.
"But what makes your house safer, it's not like you have a protective barrier here or something" she murmured quietly to herself though that didn't stop Hyde from hearing her.
"There is" he said with an emotionless voice. Hilde raised her head which had been kept down since she brought up the topic of leaving with surprise clearly written on her face.
"Then you could just put one around my house rather than keeping me here"
Hyde sighed and didn't want to respond but decided to on second thought. He knew how stubborn she was and that she wouldn't give up until she got an answer.
"I spent several years trying to build it, it isn't something I can just do with a flick of my finger"
Hilde returned her head to it's former position looking at the white sheets.
"I already told someone to get your things from your house. Get some rest" he said before finally leaving. Hilde let out a deep sigh before slumping back on the bed. She would just have to tell Helen that she was out of town her brother was in school anyway so he wasn't a problem, and thinking about it this way was even better.
She won't even be doing anything so that could speed up her training. It would be better if she could get stronger and quickly get this over with. She can't imagine living like this for another year.
