Nel and Edna had left the siblings alone to talk but the atmosphere was still a bit awkward.
"Uhm.." Oliver wanted to say something but stopped mid-sentence while trying to gauge his sister reaction.
She didn't look dazed like earlier, infact she seemed to already understand what was happening.
'Well she isn't angry I kept it from her, that's.....good?'
"Why?" Hilde suddenly asked breaking his thoughts.
Huh? He had no idea what she was trying to say.
"Why did you decide to do this? You could just have ignored it." she said making him more confused. She wasn't angry he hid something from her, she didn't scold him —that's a first— the only thing she wanted to know wanted to know was why he was working together with people she was also involved in.
Finding out that she's also part of them made him a bit less guilty even though he was still worried about her. Wait, this is strange. Does it mean their parents were also Oceanides...
"Oliver?" she called breaking his thoughts.
"Uhmm... I-I don't know" he stuttered.
Hilde sighed loudly while rubbing her brows in frustration. Oliver saw her reaction and decided to speak while she was still thinking of what to say.
"I know that you are confused but I couldn't just ignore them even after knowing that I can be of help. There is a reason why I have this powers and I want to use it the best way I can." he said quickly making Hilde stare at him long and hard.
Oliver panicked internally, that didn't work. It was the easiest thing he could come up with in the spur of the moment.
'Okay I would go with plan B'
He cleared his throat before speaking again.
"Besides, I might not have had a good justification initially but now I have a new reason" he said with a slight smile on his face. Hilde didn't miss the change in his reaction and narrowed her eyes before asking "What reason?"
"You"
"....."
"You're wrong. I will be the reason you stop right now" Hilde replied after leaving her daze
"Sister, you can't probably do that to the people you are trying to help. I promise no matter what happens I will stay in sight and stick to you like a glue until you get tired of me" he said wearing a pleading look.
Hilde sighed in surrender and rolled her eyes before saying
"Whatever"
Oliver lifted his fist in triumph while smiling. Hilde couldn't help but scoff at his reaction then something pooped up in her mind. She sat up straight before asking
"You said you have powers right?" she asked and Oliver took a break from his celebration. He looked at her a bit confused and said
"Yes, I just discovered it recently. But why are you asking? You have powers too" Hilde slumped back on the sofa and sighed.
"I don't. I can only use weapons" she replied. Oliver made an 'O' shape with his mouth before nodding. Hilde was thoughtful for a while before her mood brightened.
"What type of powers do you have?" she asked. Oliver scratched the back of his neck to give an embarrassed expression but he was swelling inside him with pride.
"It isn't much, just a few tricks" he said with a slight smile making Hilde mood deflate for a moment but she was still curious so she asked
"Like what?" At this Oliver adjusted his sitting posture and leaned forward eager to tell her about it.
"They aren't amazing but they come in handy. For example, I can will an object to burn" he started making Hilde to slightly part her lips but he wasn't finished yet and he continued soon enough.
"I can also use telekinesis, oh-oh did I mention how strong I have become recently and my ability to see clearly from a long distance....'
He went on and on about his 'not' so amazing powers and just when Hilde thought she had heard enough he said the thing that she hated the most.
"And I recently discovered that I can also read people mind. Am I not just amazing?"
From a distance Edna listened shielding herself with the staircase. Nel also stood beside her with a blank expression.
Edna shook her head while listening to all of Oliver's brag.
"Tsk, tsk, I also knew that kid was something else but I didn't expect him to be such a narcissist. He is already so full of himself even when he is a mini-Oceanide, I can't imagine how he would be if he was one of three masters" she paused before adding
"Anyway I am happy that they could quickly resolve this. Do you know what this means?" She looked at Nel expectantly and Nel was at a loss of words. 'What this means? What is it supposed to mean?' he thought before deciding to say anything that 'makes a bit of sense'
"That we don't have to resolve this for them?"
Edna sighed shutting her eyes briefly. 'This guy is just something else'
"Master" Oliver called drawing their attention. 'Finally!' Edna exclaimed inwardly while keeping a straight face.
They both walked towards where Hilde and her brother were sitted. Oliver stood up and went closer to them with a smile on his face before introducing them.
"This is Edna, she is currently teaching me how to use my powers so she is like my master now" he said. Edna smiled and said "Nice to meet you, Miss Hilde"
Hilde lowered her head slightly,
"Just call me Hilde" Oliver sat down making Nel glare at him. "Aren't you going to introduce me?" he asked a bit annoyed and Edna scoffed while shaking her head.
Oliver quickly stood up back and walked towards him
"Sorry, I totally forgot you" he said which even irked him the more.
"Let's get this over with" Edna snorted behind him.
"This is Nel. He is...." Oliver paused to think for a moment. Hilde looked up at him a bit confused and Edna was trying very hard to hold her laughter.
Oliver scratched his head before looking at Nel who was glaring daggers at him.
"He is just ordinary with powers"
