Chapter 27 - How hard can it be?

Nel came into Oliver's room and found him reading. He took a chair and sat beside him Oliver looked at him questioningly and Nel felt unsure about what he wanted to say "How do you feel today?"

"I wasn't feeling ill before" Oliver said a bit confused. Nel sighed before finally saying what has been on his mind. "How did you do that yesterday? It was the first time I saw something like that in a long time"

"Are you still on that? Even master didn't seem suprised" he said uninterested in the conversation. Nel squeezed his face a bit surprised "Who did you call master? Seriously...... just tell me what happened" he pressed

Oliver tried to think back about that moment when he wanted to pull the water tank towards him. "I don't really remember trying that hard. I just wanted it to leave that spot no matter what" he replied after a while. Nel looked at him with an unexplainable expression while nodding his head.

"So you just wanted it to disappear?" he asked. Oliver eyes lit up "No... . I .... I wanted it to move away,.... but if I had wished for it to disappear would it have?" he asked clearly excited. Nel was also fascinated at the thought, this kid is progressing fast. "So how do you want to test it?" he asked.

Oliver quickly looked around and brought out a piece of paper he was about to think of something before he suddenly stopped

"Where will it disappear to?" he asked. Nel thought for a while before answering "It will probably go out of this world only if you decide a specific place" he said to an over-excited teenage boy. "Okay, here goes nothing" he said and closed his eyes.

They waited for a while but nothing happened "Huh..." Oliver looked at it bit hurt. He was annoyed that it hadn't and suddenly it began to burn before teleporting to the trash can. "What did you just do? Quickly put it out and spray some perfume or something" Nel said quickly covering his nose. He cursed inwardly 'why am I so unlucky today?'

Oliver stood up in panic and used a blanket to put out the fire which had consumed the contents of the bin. After the fire died the room was engulfed in smoke.

He looked at Nel who seemed like he was going to die any moment from now and quickly sprayed the room. He rushed over to him,

"Are you all right?" he asked in concern. Nel coughed severally before answering "I am okay but never do something like that again" he replied.

Oliver sat close to him with a face filled with guilt "I didn't intend to burn it, I don't know why it started to burn" he said quietly. "But it really disappeared to the trash can" he said smiling, Nel looked at him and sat up straight. "That's interesting but too melodramatic for me, why don't we try something clean this time without the fury of the gods this time" he said.

Oliver looked at him for a while before nodding his head

"It was easy for the helpless paper to burn because I was angry so I need to look for something different. Something capable of protecting itself in case I lose it" he said. Nel laughed at him before saying "there is no such thing".

"Of course there is.... YOU!!!" he shouted surprising Nel who quickly stood up. "How can you even think of such a crazy thing?" he asked. "Calm down, we don't even know if it will work, I'm no longer angry so we can forget the fire and we can't compare the paper to you. But.....if it really works I can promise you that we aren't going somewhere nice" he said grinning.

Nel sighed helplessly knowing that this little guy was determined "Okay, is there a condition which I can use to save myself" he asked.

Oliver almost wanted to laugh, he can't believe that he was really afraid 'this is what it meant to be powerful' he thought.

He was going to increase his misery by saying no but he hesitated, there was something. "Do you remember the last time that you put a tattoo on my body so that I won't be able to tell anyone your secret?" he asked.

Nel looked at him and nodded his head not sure of what he was getting at. "Remove it" he said. Nel scoffed in exasperation who did he want to tell so badly. "We are a team that mark can't be removed" he said.

"I wish I could tell my sister. I don't want to hide anything from her" he said looking down.

"She won't believe you. No one in their right mind would, you will just end up hurting yourself" said Nel. Oliver shook his head signifying that he was wrong.

Nel sighed surrendering "that mark is invalid, you just have to bring yourself to tell her" he said before walking out of the room.

Oliver slammed his head on his right palm, while placing his elbow on the desk.

"How hard can it be?"
