Chapter 37 - Chapter 35

[White Lucklastrey's pov]

"The rain isn't stopping," I commented, watching the rainfall from the bright and sunny sky inside the carriage. It wouldn't have been concerning if it wasn't for the fact that we've traveled almost 56 kilometers and already arriving the port town of bellos.

What's more, the sky remained the same all throughout our travels. "This doesn't normally happen right?" I asked for Sitri's explanation. "I heard that Ius Viride is a rainy place, but I didn't hear anything about the port town at the middle of the south-west, Vox Paradia, having the same climate."

"As I said earlier, it's possible that it's someone's magic," Sitri responded to my inquiries and sean rebuked the idea of the rain being natural. In my previous world, something like rain in a sunny sky was normal, but not to the point that it feels like it will develop in a storm.

With that being said, we didn't bother to counter Sean as his hypothesis has the highest probability based on our current knowledge. He might be all brawns, but he can certainly be perceptive when it comes to it.

"If the rain is magic from someone, then it would probably be a guardian or polarity rank, but why use large-scale magic though? Do you guys think there's a fight in the port town?" Sean asked, looking at the two of us.

But it's not like we have an idea either. "Probably not in the port town," Sitri spoke up, "the rain expanded from the north-east, so it's probably from around the central dominion of the continent." Sitri pointed at the sky as she hypothesized.

Since there was no cloud, to begin with, then it isn't possible that it's moving since there is no rain cloud. Although it's still possible to rain without any clouds, it wouldn't last as long as five hours without a change in the skies.

"It's probable that it is not related to us, so there is no need to panic," Sophia commented from the background, "Besides, the port town is on sight."

Following Sophia's gaze, we set our sights in the direction of the town. The bright blue and the aurora from the bright and open sky looked magnificent enough on their own, but the turquoise-colored ocean that showed extreme clarity and the white sands of the beach overshadowed the cosmic beauty of above.

It was contrasting and somewhat looked chaotic as the clarity of the ocean opposed the skies, but it was honestly a beauty of a scene.

The houses were made out of cement and wood and looked tranquil in design. What's more, the town itself is elevated by a steep wall from the side of the forest and slowly descends to the beach, like how a colosseum is constructed.

"A beach! We're going to stay here right?" Sean asked with a joyful smile. "Aren't we going to repair the house anyways? Then it would be fine if we can take a break while that's happening," Sitri answered. Although she looked composed, it felt like she was holding back her excitement.

"Ahh... yeah, but first, how do we get inside?" It was because we were currently above a hill that we can see the view of the town, but once we follow the brick roads, it would clearly take up to a wall of the town's platform.

"Is something wrong, White?" Sitri asked, "You don't seem excited about the beach." So she noticed. Well, it's not like I need to lie about something so small as this, so I'll just tell them.

"Actually, I don't know how to swim," I answered, averting my gaze from the smug faces that looked at me. It's not my fault that I don't since the biggest pool of water that I have bathed on is a hot spring from the east of my old world.

besides, this wasn't part of my studies during my early days either, so it's not my fault that I don't. After a few annoying looks from the twins, they breathe out a sigh as if in realization.

"Come to think of it, neither have we swam before either," Sean commented. "I can handle it," Sitri smiled gently, but the confidence was there in the tone of her voice.

"About my question earlier though, how do we exactly enter the port town?" I asked again, but the twins just looked at each other and grinned.

"It's better if you just see it for yourself."

"That's right. Although I've only heard about elevated towns, I heard it's a spectacle to watch." The twins affirmed with joyful expressions, showing that even they don't want to spoil the fun.

Really now, these twins are really twins aren't they, I thought inside my head. Descending from the hill, we followed the road to the wall of the platform and the rain finally stopped.

Upon closer inspection, the thick wall was made out of stacked cobblestones joined by cement. However, that was just it. The road didn't even end, as if it was connected to the wall.

As soon as we approached the end of the road, the two trees at both sides of the road began glowing cyan, producing cyan motes that headed to the blocked path.

The motes then fused with the cement that held the cobblestone wall and followed its trail. After reaching at least twenty-five meters in height and fifteen meters in width, the trail of cyan burst along with the cement holding the cobblestones together.

I was expecting the cobblestones to fall, but the cobblestones remained mid-air then levitated along the sides of the road, opening up an upward sloping road the serves as the entrance for the town.

Looking at the levitating cobblestones, I caught a glimpse of a cyan-colored rune engraved differently from each and every one of the cobblestones. "What is that?" I asked Sitri.

"Order runes," Sitri answered, "magic engineers use those to harmonize abstract things. It was said to be a power from a celestial that is passable to beings of the same mindset. In people's case, as long as the individual is qualified, it's possible with the same profession."

The ability to harmonize abstractivity. Depending on how one uses it, it could be a powerful utility base ability. Though I still think Velxia's Imaginary Potential is better.

As I was thinking that, I noticed that we have reached the inside of the town. I wondered if we were going to park somewhere or if we are going straight to a repair shop, but the carriage was stoped.

A man in a light brown suit knocked on the door. It wouldn't be unexpected if we needed to be briefed on the rules of the town, but once again, my expectations were overruled.

"I greet House Florence of Tor Ymitria. How may I help these prestigious guests?" The man bowed politely, showing his professionalism.

"Please raise your head. We're only here to stop by for a few days, and we would like a suite to stay in for the time being. Also, can you recommend a repair shop for our carriage?" Sean asked, showing noble respect to the man in front of him.

"Well then, please follow me," The man replied back, extending his hand to the large building that looked like a town hall. He then called an attendant to deliver the carriage to a repair shop.

"Do you have luggage, my lord?" The man asked, but Sean just showed his arm where a fine bracelet is worn on. "We have space storage, so that's not a problem."

After bowing down in understanding, we then got out of the carriage and followed the man. "Is this normal?" I asked Sitri. In my old world, despite being a unified continent, border and town security were normal, so I was also expecting an identification process or something when I venture out.

Since the old man didn't say a thing, I concluded there wasn't. However, I at least thought there would still be something if not as strict as an identification process.

"Of course not, it's only because were nobles that this is exclusive to us, so you better be grateful," She said with a proud look, "wait, where's Sophia?"

"Sophia?" I looked around to look for Sophia, but she wasn't following us at all. "There she is," Sitri pointed out Sophia's location.

"Sophia? What's wrong?" I asked the question, but it didn't seem like she heard me from this distance. "Sitri, I'll fetch her first, so you can go ahead."

Sitri nodded her head and continued walking whilst I went to Sophia who was standing and staring at a statue. "Sophia?" I asked again, this time closer.

"White? I'm sorry, I was just looking at this statue," She said as she stared at the statue of a slender man holding a sword in one hand, and an icy air in the other.

"Is that Luck, my father?" I asked gently to Sophia. "I've never seen him personally, but this is indeed Luck Whitefield," She responded.

Looking at the statue, I didn't really feel any emotion towards it, and neither did I feel anything from White's side. However, the same cannot be said for Sophia.

"Do you perhaps remember something?" I asked, but she just shook her head. "We're going to stay here in a few days, so we can see it tomorrow again. Besides, it's getting late already."

Sophia simply nodded and we went back to the twins.
