Chereads / Anticat / Chapter 19 - Snow

Chapter 19 - Snow

"Let's say for a second that I believe you and that I'm not totally opposed to teaming up with a cat." I squinted at him. "Why would I team with a pipsqueak of a cat, how do I know he won't betray me, and what makes you think we can even touch this game?"

I cat walked back into the alley and I followed. I should have just left him. Now I'm stuck talking to him.

He paused by the dead cat and rubbed his head against it for a second. "Goodbye SnowFall" he whispered.

"I won't betray you because I have nothing left to lose, the rest of my family hates me, and will hate me more now that their true cat candidate died saving me."

He unclipped something from the dead cats body and I recognized a similar collar to the one Stripe had been wearing earlier. He clipped it around his own neck, it looked comically big, but a second later it adjusted to fit him perfectly, then it vanished.

"I'm going to pretend to be him." The cat stated, "Join me or I'll find another human, it doesn't hugely matter. I just thought you might like the chance, plus your personality blends well with mine."

I paused thinking, "Well it's not like I have anything better to do, sure let's kill some cats. Oh what should I call you?"

His little ice blue eyes met mine.

"Snow" he replied. "Every cat uses their clan name in the games."

"Okay Snow, I look forward to working with you." I replied. "Do you guys make business deals over milk or catnip?"

He purred in amusement, "Milk usually, catnip is usually used as more of cuss word since it's considered a high quality drug. Speaking of which, you should start using it, we have to convince the rest of the team that I have complete control of you."

A thought struck me, "Wait" I paused, "I don't remember seeing a black and white spotted cat at the entrance of the cats."

There was the large black one, the orange one, and….oh wait there was one with tiny black dots on white fur.

"Shoot!" I hissed.

"You mean catnip." Snow replied. "We'll have to work on that."

I glared at him, "You're on team destroy aren't you?"

"Yes, that won't be a problem will it?"

I thought for a moment, Kyle will definitely kill me if I kill Noah.

"The one called Stripe, we can't kill it, it's a friend of a…. well let's go with friend."

"Very well, I can't guarantee someone else won't kill him though." Snow replied.

"Actually is there a way to kill a cat without the person they team with? How does this team thing even work?"

"Oh that, it might be easier to just show you."

Snow leapt forward and landed on my head.

"Hey what-"

I didn't have time to finish as four sets of claws dug into the side of my head trying to pierce through it. Shoot! This cat really did want to kill me.

A wave of dizziness washed over me and I stumbled to my knees for a second until it cleared.

I reached up and grabbed my head but there was no blood, no claw marks, and no cat.

What?

I looked around the cat was gone.

(Nope still here)

"What the!" I yelped

(Think your thoughts smart one, this is how we can communicate)

I'm not going insane, who's going insane? There is a cat in my brain! I must be dreaming, yeah that's much more logical.

(I thought they were joking when the guidebook on bonds said humans would go a little crazy)

Nope still a cat in my brain.

(Hey cat leave!)

(Chill human, what was your name? Connor?)

(Cody!)

(Chill Cody, relax this is normal)

(This is NOT normal, no part of having a cat in your brain is normal!)

(Would you calm down, we haven't even gotten to the fun stuff yet)

(The way you say fun stuff is very unnerving)

(Oh relax little human, I'll now answer your questions and then some)

(Who you calling little brat!)

I heard him mentally purr and wanted to shudder inside.

(So per your question, I can be inside you or outside. If I'm inside and you die, we both die. If I'm outside and either of us die it's only the one. So yes it would be potentially possible to save your friend and kill the cat.)

(Great now were talking! Let's get started then.)

(Hold up! Great catnip your impulsive, I still have more to explain like the other forms and combat, and the clans and the war and-)

(Can it kitty, we're going cat hunting.)

I tried to move then found I couldn't. I immediately focused my mind and kicked the cat to the side of my brain so I could move again.

(What the heck! Snow!)

(Would you calm down, I don't want to have to put a collar on you.)

(Stop me from controlling my own body again and I'll skin you cat!)

(Great mice SnowFall, why ever was this human on your list of potential picks, she's completely irrational.)

I glared at the mirror in front of me, at some point I had managed to walk back to my place. How does one glare at a cat living in their head?

(Get out Snow.)

(In a second, you at least have to see the other forms first. Now think of having cat ears and a tail.)

(What!)

(Just do it.)

(No way! I'm-)

I froze in horror. Just by him mentioning it of course it flipped into my brain as an idea and now. I stared at the mirror…. I had ears.

I reached a hand up to brush them and my eyes widened in shock, they were fluffy and white.

Good god, I've turned into an anime cat girl. My worst nightmare that I didn't know I had until now!

(They aren't that bad, this is called your half cat form. It increases your physical abilities, but people will be able to tell it's you, so yeah use it sparingly.)

"I've turned into a bloody cat." I whispered in horror.

(Yes, I thought we already established that? You will love this next part.)

He purred in that very disconcerting way again.

(Try imagining a large cat now, a snow leopard. But you have to picture yourself as it and feel it in your bones.)

"There is no way I'm turning into a cat! Cat!" I hissed at the mirror.

(Ah I see we are back to that. If you want to sneak in, what better way to do it than as a cat? I really don't see the issue you are having. If you want to kill cats, become a cat.)

"For the love of catnip!" I hissed then I closed my eyes and focused on what it might be like to be a snow leopard.

(That's better!)

"Now I know I've gone insane." I growled as I opened my eyes to find myself standing on four legs and covered with white and black fur.

I shivered as icy blue cat eyes glared back at me from the mirror. Then all my fur stood up as I shuddered.

(Okay great, but maybe don't greet the rest of the cats by looking like your scared of your own shadow?)
