This cat is going to be the death of me.
(Just focus and you should feel a connection.)
He can't teach! I'm sure a mouse could give better instructions than this!
"Focus on what exactly!" I sprawled on my back and felt like doing a face-plant into my pillow.
Snow jumped back out of me and perched on my stomach looking down at me.
"The connection!" He replied, "I am stuck with a brainless mouse! Let us try this again when I connect you will feel the power inside you."
He jumped back into me and I felt the powerful strength and speed again, but not the other connection thing.
"You sure you aren't the one broken?" I asked earning myself a hiss. "Okay just checking."
I frowned, it had been awhile and this still was not working. I was going to fall behind at this rate. For once I was even practicing in the morning. Maybe it is time to find another teacher, but who can I trick that also has a cat? I smirked slightly.
"Hey Snowy, let's go to work, I have an idea."
(Does it involve that tiger?)
"Maybe."
(Bad idea.)
"Let's go to work." I ignored him and headed out the door to the office. "Stripe will be coming over in the afternoon."
The first half of the day was uneventful, just the normal cat chaos. Wow can't believe I just called that normal. If I didn't have my own cat I would be focusing on making gear armor for the save team 24/7, instead it's just half days I'm spending on it.
I looked down at the harness like device that when activated would create a one time force field barrier for either a fall or shield.
(I still cannot believe we have been reduced to such primitive measures.) Snow meowed. (Who's idea was it that the game must only use the planet's resources?)
(Relax fluffball, this works to our advantage. Otherwise destroy would blow up the planet before you could meow twice.)
(What good is the little bit of metal actually going to do?)
I placed the harness to the side and picked up the small wristband I had made for myself.
(Protect me from your training methods I hope.) I replied as I clipped it on.
Most items merged with my fur, which was kind of fun, I could customize my spots by what I was wearing. The goal of my current creations are to make things that won't and can therefore still be used.
I heard a knock on my office door. Perfect timing my testers have arrived.
"Come in." I called as I continued tightening the screws.
I fitted the last one in place as I covered the entire watch face with a sealing gel that when hardened could take a lot of damage. I put it in my pocket for later, this one still needed some work.
I turned around to greet my guests. A tiger changed to a person in front of me.
"Whatz up?" Noah smiled.
I held up the harness, "Want to test it kitty?"
"Sure how does it work? It looks a bit small." He asked studying it.
"That is why it adjusts brainless." I pressed the edges and it grew in length. "This one is a defensive type, I haven't found anything stronger than your claws though, I might not be able to help your attack power."
"About that." Noah looked around to make sure we were the only ones besides Kyle, then whispered, "the cats have magic."
"Magic?" I tried to look surprised, then glanced at Kyle, "Did you let him stay up late watching movies?"
"Nope funny enough it is true, although it isn't quite magic, which is what I am hoping you can help with." Kyle looked at Noah, "Show her and try to explain it."
He held out a hand and a fireball appeared on it.
My eyes lit up, "How did you do that!" In my head I silently added, please in full detail of each step.
"Well, how do I put this, in my head is a room with an orb that all humans have. But I could not access it before Stripe bonded me. That orb allows me to see a whole other realm of partials and I can control red and white ones. They merge to fire, I guess maybe they are like elements? I am not sure how much modern science is accurate anymore. Sounds crazy right." He scratched his chin.
"Maybe a little." I replied. "Go over it again, how does that uh, connection work?"
I listened to him ramble for a bit, thank goodness he talks when nervous and over explains. Kyle added a few comments here and there.
"I got it!" My eyes suddenly lit up and they both stared at me. "I think you are somehow seeing subatomic particles, like protons and how they build up to atoms, but you said you could easily modify them until they turned red. I am not sure how you get fire out of air though. Is this specific to your cat or all the cats?"
Noah shrugged, "Stripe says abilities vary by cat, but you can group this type as an elemental ability cat."
(Hey Snow are you an elemental cat?)
(How should I know if you can't access it?)
I turned and scribbled a few notes on a piece of paper.
"Go test this out." I passed Noah the harness, "I want to work on this theory for a second."
He looked at Kyle who shrugged. "If it does can you make them for my team? Noah asked.
"Nope just you." I replied.
"What, why?"
"Because I want the other cats to die. If Stripe properly gets out of you I'd like to kill him too." I replied. "Stop wasting time."
He hesitated but Kyle dragged him off, "Don't bother when she is like this, just turn into the tiger and let's see how that defense works."
As soon as the left I rose and locked my door, then I grew a tail.
"Okay Snowy, let us see if you forgetting to mention a room in my head was the main factor in our failure."
I sat on the ground and closed my eyes, was I supposed to meditate or something? All I see is darkness. Feel the connection huh? Feel the cat? Where is Snow when he is in me? I focused on the cat in my head and suddenly I was looking at a room, more like a world of ice, glacier plain, than a room. It had cliffs and mountains around the edges.
Hoovering a few feet from my mental image of myself was a large glass like orb. It pulsed with a light blue almost white light.
A snowy white leopard with black spots sat below it.
(Hey you finally made it!)
Snow waved his tail at me.
(Would it really of been so hard to say "get to the room in your head" instead of that very descriptive feel the connection nonsense!)
I glared and he purred.
(Whatever you made it! Now touch the orb, dang I hope we get something cool! Like reading minds! That one's super rare! Or maybe levitation!)
I reached out and placed a hand on the orb, a chill ran through me and I felt frozen to the spot. So cold! Then ice spread away from my feet.
Ice element! I can work with this!
(Lame! Why is it always ice in my family!)
