Chapter 22 - Guests

Why are they here! Go back to your silly FBI base! Can you not see that two cats in a building is a terrible idea! Plus they are on opposing teams!

(Uh Snow, that's the one we aren't killing okay?)

(Relax human, the teams don't fight until after introductions, it's a rule.)

(Can you please tell me all the rules?)

(I will think about it.)

Stupid cat.

(Hey Snow, what happens if a cat just flips sides?)

(Nothing? Except both sides will probably try to kill them, and their clans after the games.)

(Yet you made it sound so easy.)

(It is easy, SnowFall's dead, no one in their right mind would think he has been replaced by little me.)

He started cackling and purring in my head.

(Just wait human, its going to be a beautiful bloodbath. I am going to kill them all!....oh except your little human friend thing. We can separate him from clan Stripe's candidate first. Actually list now for me what humans I can't kill, no changing it later!)

Little psycho, he is growing on me, I feel like this should be concerning me more.

(Okay, uh,) I paused, who did I actually care about? Guess I will list people who it would be incontinent to lose. (Kyle, his friend Noah, The CIA director, his daughter, I guess Ryan, and uh any of their friends and family.)

(I can't guarantee all their relatives if i don't know them!)

(Just use your best judgment, you are a fancy space cat stowaway or something right? I think you can manage.)

I watched Kyle hold the door open for the tiger.

Rotten fleabites! He is already walking much better than I can as a cat, how did he manage that!

The agency had gone deathly quiet with all eyes on the tiger.

"Greetings human agents, I am Stripe, I'll be um, what was that word again?" He glanced at Kyle. "Am-bass-adoor? Or something, I still think it sounds like you are tossing a fish through a door. You sure that's a term for a high ranked guest? Well whatever, point is I will be working with you on behalf of team savior."

Kyle shot the cat a weird look from where he was leaning against the glass wall by the door and cleared his throat, "yes we plan to make a team of the top agents to assist the saviors team."

The director clapped his hands, "that sounds like a fantastic idea!" His eyes scanned over us, "let me see, Cody you have worked with Kyle before you will head the joint effort and how about Ryan helps you. Pick any others that you think will be needed of course."

I stumbled backward against the glass wall and used it for a moment of support. I was next to Kyle and a small piece of me wanted to hide behind him. I cringed at the thought.

Oh sure, I thought, help them out. I was probably the most dangerous thing to them. This should be good. Now all eyes were on me, catnip!

"Of course" I replied, "this way."

I subconsciously pushed against the wall and heard a cracking sound.

My eyes widened in horror not here, not now!

A spider web of cracks started to spread outward. At that exact moment Kyle also pushed against the glass and the tiger's tail whacked it.

The entire wall shattered. "Safety glass" what a weird thing considering a small crack would collapse the entire thing. Wasn't this supposed to be bulletproof? I demand a refund!

Kyle and Noah/Stripe stared at each other before Noah said, "sorry about that."

"No, no it is fine please, Cody take them somewhere more...durable would you?"

I lead them down the hall and to the basement level. Now that was a perfect distraction but, I glanced at them. Did they really not notice it was me?

I watched their reactions, nope they didn't glance at me once, I had successfully made him a scapegoat.

We were about to go to the elevators but I quickly picked the stairs instead.

Noah paused at the top of them looking annoyed. I frowned, maybe I should of just let us destroy an elevator. No wait if it crashed Kyle could have died, stairs it is, sorry Noah.

To my surprise he managed to elegantly flow down them until the last two where he face planted into a wall. I winced at the pride hurting that would cause.

He puffed out his fur elegantly licked a paw and stated, "The stair is a bit slick do watch your step."

"Gods I can't anymore sorry!" Kyle burst out laughing and the tiger gave him a scathing look.

"So Noah" I added, "How is that cat life going for you?"

The tiger groaned, "There are no cameras or mics here right?"

I shook my head, "Not until the next bend, the room I picked, if we make is there, is also clear."

Suddenly most of the fur vanished and Noah was sitting on the floor in front of us with tiger cat ears and a tail.

"Being a cat is bloody impossible!" He groaned and laid back on the floor, "Every time I move something breaks! Sorry about your entrance wall by the way."

"All good" I replied smoothly.

"And the little jerk won't turn me back until I have mastered his strength and what not." Noah ranted.

(Funny sounds like a cat I know) I growled to my head.

(Clearly it's a necessity)

"Sounds rough, anything I can do to help?" I asked.

"Not really, I just needed to vent to someone who isn't Mr. Perfect here." Noah glared at Kyle and peaked my interest.

Had the two been fighting?

"Oh and we only have a few days until the battle starts, it will be chaos, which is why we are here. We are going to need to combine all our recourses against the destroy cats." Noah pulled himself off the floor and turned back into a cat. "Stripe says they are major bad news. Oh and each cat is part of a clan of cats warring over the universe."

"Does your cat know anything about the other cats? Maybe weaknesses to target?" I asked hopefully.

"Not really." Noah paused, "He is terrified of the Pride cat like seriously terrified. Worried about the abilities of the Dart and Lyra cats, and thinks the other has a rotting fish brain."

(What did he call me!)

"Oh and he knows very little on the Snow clan cat. Apparently that clan usually keeps to themselves." Ryan added. "Oh and Jagged, that's the name of the one without a brain."
