(This is ridiculous, what you need is to practice.)
(Shut it cat, I'm not skipping work.)
(You skipped it fine the last two days.)
(I'm not calling in sick again)
At least I'm no longer breaking everything I touch when the dumb cat is in my head. I sighed and carefully opened my door very slowly.
I left my building and very slowly closed the door making sure to lock away the evidence of last night.
Okay Cody you got this, just a normal day at the office. Assuming I manage to get to the office. I blinked in the harsh sunlight, this cat had even messed up my vision. Now I feel like I'm part vampire of something. A creature of the night, hunting in the darkness.
( Don't be so grumpy, its not that bad. Anyone would think you didn't want superpowers.)
I didn't reply and instead focused on not leaving any footprints in the cement sidewalk. I've got this, just a normal eight hour workday. Then I'm going somewhere deserted and training like a crazy person.
Actually...
(Hey Snowy, there is an abandon rich school near here we can use.)
(A what?)
(Rich kid school. A billionaire built it when his kid was bullied so he could control everything. Once he was done he just left it though. No idea why he didn't sell it to the goverment or something, I think they still own it. Anyway point is it's like a mini ghost town, apparently haunted if you ask the local ghost hunters, but there is a giant playground we can use. Dare I forbid, a normal playground. On second thought lets just use the old gym there. A treadmill should be plenty difficult, plus ill probably break anything still functional in under a minute.)
Snow purred,
(Yeah no can do, that place was already selected for the first meeting of the game. After our introductions were allowed to do whatever we want.)
I read between the lines of what he said.
(So that's the first battleground.)
(Purrrhaps)
Poor abandon school. I should make it a gravestone. After the cat-trastrophy that was sure to happen, there wont be any treadmills.
I somehow made it to work and looked the front door.....right of course, it's made of glass.
I frowned at it for a solid moment. I was late, only five minutes early, I left my place two hours early! How am I basically late! I rubbed my temple and glanced behind me where there were still a few cracks in the concrete. Maybe I should just call in sick again. Yeah definitely. I started to move away when I heard a voice and started trembling. Come on! Anyone but her!
"You are back! Yay! I cannot believe you took a sick day, and not just one but two! It was like the world was ending! I don't think I have ever seen you sick before!"
I winced and looked over at her. "Hi Ryan."
She looked back at me and frowned, "you know, you still do not look so great. And you have been just standing in front of the door for a minute, let's go inside dummy!"
Catnip, I cursed to myself.
Well if nothing else at least Snow managed to drill that into my head over the last two days. I'm now fluent in colorful cat language.
Ryan grabbed my hand and started forward. I froze in horror before keeping my arm limp.
You can do it Cody, don't accidently fling your coworker through a wall. Limp like a noodle don't tense anything.
"You are so slow today, man you really don't look so good. Don't worry I'll take you over to the health center!"
"No!" I shouted, the I coughed slightly to regain my composure, "thank you but no, that is really unnecessary."
I held my breath hoping she would leave it at that. Who knows how much cat-ness would show up on a medical exam.
"Okay fine, we need to get you over that little fear of doctors." She added.
"Needles, I am scared of shots. For perfectly logical reasons. Who knows what you are being injected with." I replied curtly as Ryan held open the door and I slipped in behind her.
I glared at the door over my shoulder smugly, not today glass!
The director and a few groups were chatting in the main hall. I slipped over to one and added a few remarks to lose Ryan. I couldn't afford to have a tail watching my every move today. They continued to discuss the potential atom structure of the cats and I nodded my head energetically.
(It is funny how wildly off you are about us. We have the same makeup as the planet born cats this planet just lacks cat-wakening stones. Which mind you is an essential element for unlocking what you would label "magic" with a bonded human.)
(Is that what your made of rocks? No wonder you are dense.)
(Very funny, keep it up and I will not share my magic with you.)
(Wait there is more?)
(Duh, of course there is more.)
(My apologies lovely Snow, your fur is so shiny, please teach me all of your cat killing magic.)
He huffed in annoyance about me only behaving when I wanted something.
I shifted my weight and cursed to myself before glancing down at a crack in the floor.
I calmly looked back up waited a few moments then scooted sideways away from it. Definitely should have stayed home.
Luckily Ryan had grown bored of cat molecular structure and was off talking to another group.
I glanced down at another crack moving across the floor. That's it, I'm out. I began moving back toward the entrance. Then I paused, right that cursed door. Who builds a door out of glass! Sure it's thick and bulletproof, but why not use titanium!
I can't spend five minutes slowly opening and closing it. I grinned slightly, right, I don't have to. I will just wait for someone to open it, next person it is! I'll-
I stared out the glass,
Catnip
It's over, the world hates me.
Slowly walking over to the CIA building were the two people I wanted to see least.
Kyle in all his stupid handsome glory, a team of agents, and beside them breaking some concrete with massive paws was a large orange tiger.
Catnip, catnip, CATNIP, ah bloody mouse traps!
Noah and Stripe had arrived.
