On a battlefield, millions of people lose their lives fighting a single enemy
Ground surrounded by magma, lava seeps from the cracks on the floor
A giant, its head hiding in the clouds, its skin has that ember color, it glows brightly before exploding wiping off all those in the front line
I was swept by the impact hitting an archer from behind
"ugh, sorry"
I said but there was no response, I stood up just to see that a melted corpse was the one that cushion my fall
I grip my sword tightly its blade shaking,
"Aaaah!" A man beside me rushes to the Frontline his blade raised,
"Follow him!" The others behind yelled and they all came rushing toward the giant
I watch them, unable to move from my position.
The man in the front was immediately spotted by the giant, the monster stomp his feet and the ground shook
My body begin to fall and just as I was about to hit the ground.
I saw a shining light, like an angel descending from heaven
It heads up toward the sky and in the flash of an eye, the cloud separated and the giant was beheaded.
I saw the man on the top of the giant's body waving at the people, drenched in the giant's blood.
"Amazing" I muttered
A whole squad was wiped out cause of that giant, I'm probably the only one that remained and you are telling me a single man beat that monster
The ground cracked and lava begin to raise, I could feel the heat under my feet so I ran away from the scene
"Run!"
The man's voice was coming from the top of the giant but I heard it clearly
Boom
The whole area turned red, I could hear a high ping sound breaking my eardrum, and my whole body was enveloped by flames
As I lost my vision, the flame slowly eating me, I saw that scene
Hundreds of giants raise from the ground, their body covered with rock-solid armors, gem-like eyes that was full of life
"Call them, I'll handle this!" The man shouted before disappearing from the giant's neck.
White light traveled for a meter and he appeared exactly where the light vanished
He fights with the group of giants while the group rushes out of the battlefield,
I could see them all approaching my fallen body but before they could come close, flame circled the whole area trapping us all
I could hear screams, and battle cries, some tried to join and fight the giants, while others try to break the flame barrier.
Seeing such a scene and knowing that even if we succeed in winning this, we won't have anywhere to call home
That were just struggling
I grip the sword tightly and tried to stand up, I could feel my skin being peeled off
All of us present would die even if we Success in killing the giants.
The whole world has been destroyed, all life is slowly fading
I took a step closer my eyes getting heavier each second,

Hot air push us down, the giant's all kneeled while the white light that fought them was crushed on the ground
As my vision faded I saw fire blocking my eyesight, my face was smudged in the mud, and I could feel my body melting, mixing with the raising lava
And I died
Everything was black, then a voice came
"Be a hunter or you'll die"
It was familiar but not to the point that it was recognizable, I opened my eyes and was greeted by a murder scene
In some dark alley, multiple corpses lay all of them was squeezed dry, their bones could be seen behind the paper-thin skin
"Allen"
"Allen Dale"
"Dale"
"Dale allen"
"Allen!"
Hearing my name being called multiple times I look to who it must be and saw a lady,
She has that agent get up. and reading glasses,
"Would you join us?" She asked
"Yes..."
I can faintly remember this happening then she'll say next
'it's good that I don't need to kill you'
"It's good that I don't need to kill you"
Hearing those words my heart skip a beat, is this real?
'calm down' I pondered before asking
"What happened?"
She looked at her tablet and answered
"Nothing, you just saw a monster and fainted"
"Come, let's send you to the association," She said signaling me to follow,
People in black crowded the scene, almost all of them have a sword strap on their belt, some leaned watching the corpses, while the others carried the dead bodies
"Don't mind them" She said looking at me before quickly turning her vision on the path
As I saw her back, Gold curly hair jingling up and down as she take a step, I remember something
Something hard to forget as it was the first step to living a hellish life as a hunter
The turning point in my normal life.
It's blurry as it happened many years ago but I remember a massacre.
As I think to myself my body bumped into the lady in front.
"So-
Before I could speak I was shoved to the side as a giant worm rise from the ground.
"Run away!" I heard her voice behind the flesh wall of the worm. it has hundreds of teeth and a circle opening like a black hole for a mouth. small scale cover its body and I saw my reflection from it
Scrawny kid with brown muffin hair, a green jacket in the middle of summer, and sweating round glasses.
I stared at the reflection blankly for a second before starting to run away
When I arrived at the alley where I first opened my eyes, there were supposed to be several corpses there but I found nothing
Not even a trace of someone, it's just your normal alley that becomes a garbage dump.
"I'm alive"
I mumbled just to remember the lady that pushed me away.
I killed her, didn't I?
No, as a hunter it was part of our job, and right now I'm not one of them im just a normal civilian so-
It was like something was blocking my throat and something cleanse my mind cause I remember what will happen next
The lady will die while I survive, and the monster will go on a rampage causing a huge massacre in a street nearby.
I'm not a hunter it's not my job to do anything.
A moment of silence was broken by me huffing, trying to catch air.
I ran with all my might wishing the worm was still there.
Then I saw its body the size of the two stories house on its side.
The lady was fighting with it, having many bruises and wound, she have a mace in her hand and the body of the monster have multiple signs of being beaten.
The monster tried to eat the girl whole but she easily dodge every time the monster tried to kill her, she beat the worm in every moment she can.
Seeing it I was amazed it's nothing compared to the man that single-handedly kill a giant but I can't do what she's doing so I was amazed
Fighting the worm didn't cross my mind, first I'm weak, second I'm scared, and thirdly I would just be a burden.
I can just call for backup, every hunter has a communicator so I can get hers, she probably lost it in the middle of the fight and that's the reason she was killed.
I look around and when I saw a small way that must be a secret passage I try to squeeze myself inside, just to realize it was where the pipe of every house nearby gathered.
'I can use this to get to her' I pondered
I try not to damage any of the pipes and moved to the back
As I moved out of the passage a shadow envelop me from above

I felt pain and instantly tear dropped from my eye, the worm was beside me eying me with its giant mouth.
I move inside the tight entrance of the alley and the worm tried to follow me but it was too big, it hit the walls making my invironment tremble.
"hah, hah" I sat down breathing heavily my left arm bleeding uncontrollably.
"I almost died" I stated trying to stand up but failed to even lift my head from looking at the ground
Ting
I heard two metals being clashed, several battles cries, and the walls where I am shaking from the force of the battle I was unable to see
I didn't even help her
I didn't do anything
I knew I was weak but
I complained about how weak I am, and how I was jealous of the guy that can turn to light. he killed a giant and was praised by many people
I wanna know how that felt, he must have felt proud of himself.
I was talking to myself, trying to distract myself until the pain go away
The whole place goes silent and I was eager to know who won but before I could take a look outside, my body give up and everything went black.
Eva(pov)
Eva Aliot, curly gold hair, black business wear, her whole body was covered with slimy Greenblood mixed with her own as her wounds bleed.
A couple of scratches on her arm and a huge facial scar on her face, which immediately healed.
She stomps the corpse of the giant worm before taking a call.
"Finally decided to pick up"
She said moving closer to where Allen was hiding
"I Apologize but all the squad was used so we can't send you anything"
"There's more than a hundred squads" Eva said and the phone replied
"Yes, also the monsters that appeared"
"will talk about that later, you just need to get here fast or the new member will die"
"Got it, be there in a minute"
Eva put the phone down and kneeled seeing the blood gushing out of Allen's left arm
"Heal" She mumbled and green light envelop her palm which she uses to massage the bleeding arm,
It didn't bring back the one that was chopped off but it stop the blood from leaking out.
She lean against the wall and started to take out a cigarette that was hiding in the pocket of her suit.
"Brave kid" She whispered exhaling the smoke of the cigarette
Allen(pov)
I opened my eyes and my whole body screamed, it hurts a lot so I close my eyes and waited for the pain to subside.
Concrete wall with several cracks and a single metal rusty door that have no holes.
it's like a prison cage
The door opened and light enter the place, I saw my arm bandaged with a white wrapper,
"You okay?" The shadow who opened the door asked me.
"Yes" I answered, Feeling an itch on my cut-off arm.
"I know it isn't fair that you become a hunter because of that accident but you can't blame us"
The shadow handed me the tablet, I grab it and saw pictures
Tragedies, like a suicide forest fire, also show monsters that were killed, cause they have a connection to those accidents.
I squinted my eye finally seeing who's the person in front of me
"Your name?" I asked
"Eva Aliot" She said grabbing the tablet back, she was about to step out of the room but stop
"Prepare yourself tomorrow and thank you" She locked the door and I was left in that dark room
My cheeks were burning, and I felt proud, I never think what I did was praise worthy and she probably just said it cause I lost my arm doing that stupid action
But it feels amazing, is this what that guy feels.
"thank you, she said " I mumbled going to sleep.
