'Gods I drank a lot more than I realized last night… my head is killing me. Jess is going to laugh her ass off once she sees how hung over I am, I should probably wash this alcohol off my face, I can hardly see with it in my eyes. Oh my God why does my body hurt so much, it feels like a truck hit me… HOLY SHIT!? Where the fuck am I?'
"Hey kid, glad to see your not dead, now get your ass up if you want to stay that way" He was a tall man, at least 6'5 with brown hair, brown eyes, and a grisly scar diagonally across his face. But, the most noticeable thing about him was the blood covering his leather clothing. "c'mon kid we've been ordered to retreat, try to keep up or they'll cut you down while your backs turned, I'm Ulrick now lets go!"
That was the day my life changed. I guess I should start with a proper introduction, my name is Steve, or at least it was, till that day I was somehow reincarnated into this body… now my name is Jerrik. How embarrassing is that, my parents' thought I'd grow to accomplish great feats so named me king forever! That's right Jerrik means king forever, and before you ask no, my family is not royal. I am a 16-year-old boy with blonde hair and blue eyes, which only help to stand out more; in addition I'm already 5'11, with a couple years left to grow. Anyway cant talk anymore gotta run.
"Hey Ulrick wait up, who are we running from, and why are they trying to kill us?!" I don't know if this question was supposed to be funny or just self-explanatory; but Ulrick started laughing before he answered, "Look around you kid. You see those big ugly giants? Now see those humans running away like mad men? We're with the humans obviously… now unless you want to end up like them, stop asking questions and lets go" As I looked where he was pointing I saw a pile of legs, arms, and blood; as I heard a blood curdling scream, where right next to the pile of dead bodies was a giant green monster 14' tall with a wooden club in one hand and a headless body in the other hand, who I can only assume was the person who had screamed just seconds ago. The giant had a huge grin on his face as he was chomping down on the head of the man, with blood flowing down his face, arms and legs.
All of a sudden the monster swallowed what was left in its mouth and looked directly at me, still grinning madly. I felt a sudden rush of warmth on my legs and as I looked down I saw a yellow puddle forming right where I was sitting, yet somehow I felt colder then ever before. I immediately got up and looked at Ulrick who was running with the rest of the men towards a huge stone wall off in the distance. Before I knew it I was running too. My vision was still blurry and now I started to realize it wasn't alcohol on my face, but blood, my blood to be precise. Their was a gash on my head from where I can only assume the previous Jerrik had died, allowing me to inhabit his body. My throat was so hot it felt as though it was on fire, with the taste of iron.
The longer I ran the more tired my legs got, the harder it was to breathe, and the louder the screams of those behind me was. I was slowly getting nearer and nearer to the back of the group, with the only motivation keeping me running, was the fear of death by those giant green monsters catching up to me.
Finally I could see hope, I was so close to the gate of the wall in front of me I felt the breeze on my face and my heart began beating faster as I realized I might actually live through this. But, as if to show me the gods hate me, I tripped on a rock and could no longer get up.
I knew it was the end. The ground was shaking so much and the air became so hot I could only assume the monsters were right behind me with a huge grin as they looked at my head which would soon be removed from my shoulders. But, in that last second before death I didn't cry, or beg for mercy, but I froze; it was as if I had already died and there was nothing I could hope to do that might change what would surely follow. I closed my eyes and hoped it would end quickly with as little pain as possible.
I could hear the men near me either screaming or crying. Followed by the sound of whistling. I'm not sure if there's a better way to put it; but it sounded like so many people were whistling I had no idea what to think of it. But, as if to break me from my stupor there was a loud thud right behind me; quickly followed by another, and then another. Soon there were so many thuds I lost count of the amount of them as well as the amount of time passed in which I somehow was still alive.
