[DING]
"What was that?!"
({Daily Quest}: Do 250 push-ups, Do 250 sit-ups, Run 3 kilometers, Do 50 pull-ups, eat at least 2,500 calories. {Reward}: one random skill point)
({Beginner Quest}: Kill one Orc while dealing 50% or more damage. {Reward}: 3 random skill points, poor quality loot box, class select. (Time Limit: 7 days))
"Its official I've either gone crazy or I'm already dead" I was woken by the long ding of a bell followed by floating transparent words in front of my vision that seemed to move along with my head.
'Okay maybe I'm taking this way to lightly, but I've played a lot of video games in the past, my guess is if I somehow do what it asks I should complete the "quest" and get the reward?' theirs only two problems. One 2500 calories is a lot of food to eat in a day, especially when your dirt poor. Two HOW THE FUCK AM I SUPPOSED TO KILL AN ORC?
I was able to deduce the fact that those crazy monsters outside the walls were indeed orcs. First the guy at the clinic was talking about how he hated them, and now this… system (for lack of a better word) asks me to kill one. It would take an idiot not to realize what an orc was at this point.
But on the bright side, I only have to do 50% of the damage to the orc… and it seems ill be able to get stronger. Who am I kidding, getting the reward would actually require me to somehow complete the task; which if I remember correctly those monsters are way stronger than I am. To top it off the only way I've seen them die… that actually might be a good idea.
Okay so if I somehow get trained in archery while also completing the daily quest I should be able to take advantage of those skill points to get stronger. Hopefully it's a repetitive mission so I can take advantage of this chance. Plus I'm really curious what this class select is.
First things first, I need to get money for both a bow and arrow, as well as all the food I'm going to be eating for the next couple days. Now I just need to figure out how to make money in this day and age. Everything I want to do seems to have the same answer I need a library. Maybe my friend Raoul might be able to help.
Raoul is that friend I was talking about previously, who has been practically family, since him and I were kids. He's always wanted to go and become an adventurer with me so he's been training most of his life. If I'm not mistaken he also happens to use a bow and arrow.
[Knock, Knock, Knock]
"Hold your horses, I'm coming, I'm coming." Raoul opened the door while rubbing his eye. He was roughly 5'8 with black hair brown eyes and a lean muscular figure. As he looked up at me he opened his eyes wide in surprise and a smile appeared on his face. "Man I was sure you had died yesterday, we got split up half way through the battle and…"
"Hey man I need some help, ill explain everything later" I decided to interrupt him before he asked a question I wasn't sure how to answer. "Yesterday showed me just how useless in battle I am, so I was hoping you might teach me to use a bow and arrow, and do you know of any ways to make money around here."
"Hmmm as for the money question… if you don't mind my asking, what's the sudden need of money for? As for the second part I can help you with using a bow and arrow, if you answer my questions about yesterday." Raoul looked up at me with a questioning look in his eyes.
It's probably best to respond before he starts to fill in his own answers "I need the money for food, I'm planning to increase my diet for some rigorous training I have in mind; as for yesterday…" I told him everything from me waking up, only I left out the healing of my head, the "yellow puddle", and the fact that I'm not actually Jerrik.
He sat there looking at me for a bit after I had finished my story, as if pondering on what I had said. "Okay I have a proposition for you, I'll buy the food for you and teach you to use a bow and arrow if… you include me in your training. I think it'd be nice to see what method you've come up with this time. Plus it gives us a chance to catch up."
Normally this would seem like a great deal… if I was who I said I was. If I say something I shouldn't, I could end up revealing I'm not actually Jerrik. But, on the other hand I could use the help and if he buys the food it means I could spend the whole day preparing for the day I need to kill one of those orcs. "Sure man, I'd love to have a work-out partner." I decided the awards outweigh the risks; plus, it could help me to get accustomed to this world while talking to a friend.
