Raoul and I quickly walked to the archery range ready to test the strength of my new bow. Surprisingly, Raoul seemed to be nearly as excited as I was, "if that bow is as good as it seems, I know what to spend my 100 pieces on" Raoul remarked while laughing.
Upon our arrival there seemed to be a few more people than usual… which, is understandable given we showed up much later than the previous day. We decided it was probably best to wait and try out the bow when there were less people. As much as I wanted to try it right then, I couldn't risk someone having a keen eye for my bow resulting in it being stolen. So we agreed to try it tonight once we had finished our workout; and Raoul had gone to the store to look at something he had been looking to buy. For some reason, this something remained a secret.
We completed everything as we had the previous day, this time including the pull-ups in the workout. While I left to go eat some food and check in with my mom, Raoul went to the shop. 'I wonder what he's looking to buy, and why it's a secret.' I thought while on my way home.
After finishing my third meal of the day I heard a loud noise in my ear followed by the familiar prompt of the system.
[DING]
({Mission Accomplished}: Would you like to collect your rewards (y/n))
Luckily today I had been contemplating what to put my new skill point into, while agility is in high demand due to the coming up task of killing an Orc… it's not the only useful stat and I just got a bonus, of 3 agility from my bow. So I decided to put the point into stamina so I wouldn't run out of breath in the case I needed to run away from an Orc.
'Yes'
(1 skill point received, please select what stat you would like to put it in.)
'Stamina'
{Stats}
Health: 10
Stamina: 2
Agility: 2+3
Strength: 1
Intelligence: 1
Just as I had finished checking my stats their was a knock at the door. As I answered I saw Raoul waiting outside with a sad expression on his face.
"What's wrong, did they not have what you were looking for?" I asked, still unsure what he was trying to buy.
"Someone came and bought it while I was out, I had been on a waiting list for a bit but had never had enough money to buy it so they moved on to the next available person." Raoul said still a bit down.
"Whatever it is I'm sure you'll find something similar soon." I tried reassuring him. "Lets get your mind off of that and go try out this bow."
We walked to the archer range for the second time that day, and were happy to find it was empty. As I broke out my bow from the bag I had been keeping it in it glowed a feint red color. I decided to try one arrow first without the active fire ability.
As I drew the bow back the glow seemed to get a bit brighter, until the second I released it and the arrow flew forward with a whistling sound, like that I had heard the first day here. The arrow shot forward and hit the top right corner of the target board continuing forward, landing directly behind it. A hole could be seen in the board where the arrow had originally pierced. "Shit, I guess they don't call it armor piercing for nothing… try it with the flame now." Raoul said with a newfound excitement.
I decided to press the button on the side igniting the bow in a magnificent glow, far brighter than the one before. I drew my arrow instantly setting it ablaze although surprisingly it didn't burn me. As I released the arrow it flew forward with determination leaving a fiery trail behind it. This time it pierced the top left of the board leaving behind a hole the size of my head, while setting the rest of the board ablaze.
We both remained silent until we realized the noise we had just made as we quickly retrieved the arrows and ran home.
