Chapter 14 - Chapter 14

It took me a bit of time to decide on the class I wanted, especially given I don't know if I can switch in the future but, overall I felt my class choice was the best; and honestly picking the class I did, answered one question that was weighing heavily on me.

In addition I found a new screen for the system in my mind.

"Menu"

{Menu}

Host: Jerrik

Species: Human

Class: Level 1 Soldier

Subclass: Level 1 Beast Tamer

Pets: 0/2

Party Members: Jerrik

{Stats}

Health: 20

Stamina: 3

Agility: 3+3

Strength: 6

Intelligence: 2

Charisma: 1

First off given my choice of the Soldier class, I received a new stat bar, Charisma. In addition because I didn't select archer I was worried I might not be able to use my bow anymore, or my accuracy might decrease; while in reality, it remained the same. Which brings me to the further understanding that while I didn't pick archer or mage, I can likely still learn magic with a bit or practice. Of coarse I don't expect to learn a lot but with time I might be able to make my own weapons and armor and possibly sell them for a profit. Lastly, there was finally an increase in my Health, which gives me hope for the future.

Having more Health is like having more wiggle room to play with. With the best armor I could buy someone might hit me with their strongest attack taking away a miniscule number of say 10 Health meaning all my health at the time which goes to show I really need to improve in this area. But, so far the only thing that's increased it is choosing my class.

(Due to increase in Hosts ability daily quests will no longer be offered at this time.)

"WHAT THE FUCK?"

Honestly what else is there to think at this point I just had a load of information dumped on me all at once. Of coarse I'm happy I received so many quests which could potentially help increase my power, but at the same time, WHAT THE FUCK? First off the Orc captain is going to attack and its supposedly going to be strong enough to kill everyone, unless I can somehow get strong enough in the 5 days they gave me. That's right 5 days to increase my power enough to change the direction this battle will go in. 5 days to increase my power so drastically that I would have to be considered the strongest person in town.

Of coarse this could all be possible with the rewards from the other two quests, but that brings the question of how do I complete the quests that are both designed to take 2 weeks or more?

I bought a bow of intermediate quality for 50 plus gold; how much more will a rare sword cost?

"That's it, I know what to do!"

"And what is that?" Raoul asked as he stepped into my room.

"I need to get a job that'll pay good and allow me to leave the boundary of the walls, while being completed within 4 days." I decided to answer. Upon inspecting the quests I realized that I only had to obtain a sword, not buy. Which means if I go out while looking for a great new pet, I can possibly come across a sword. Of coarse, the sword wont be just anywhere, it'll likely be guarded by a treasure goblin or if I'm really unlucky a dragon. Wait what is that?

As if sensing what I had noticed Raoul looked down at his feet where a white wolf pup could be seen alert staring at me. "Remember that thing I wanted to purchase a couple days back, that ended up being sold to someone else? Well it was going to be a winter fox to help collect supplies and scout areas for me while I was adventuring. Since the shop owner sold it we began negotiating on the different pets he had available and this wolf responded very well to my link so he gave me a deal I couldn't refuse and now I have a new pet, meet my Direwolf Freyja"

I had many questions to ask him but above all "What do you mean link?"

He proceeded to tell me about creating a link with a beast which is very difficult to do and can only be done with a monster that accepts you. Its a lot like splitting your consciousness into two one allowing you to see and feel what your pet feels while the pet can do the same with you. In addition for a few months after creating the link your head hurts a lot and your body feels drained. Finally, due to the stress on your brain from splitting your consciousness most people can only link with one pet at a time while very few can link with two.

'So its a lot like what my ring should do only with a limit for most people at one. I wonder if creating this "link" with my ring will have the same effects on my body as it does for most people who do it without the ring. There's only one way to find out.'
