The kids were all worried when I got out of the study. Some were lurking just outside, looking doe-eyed with worry and fear. Others like Gemma looked me straight in the eyes and knew that they needed to be cautious. Vampires can manipulate thoughts, memories and sometimes they can influence a person's action as well. Perhaps Mushka coming to the orphanage was a calculated plan.
It made me think and become paranoid. Were things being manipulated by the vampires coven outside the shelter? I had to get some answers. I started tapping on my phone to send Noelle a message. But to no avail, I was not allowed to even contact her directly. Noelle can be arrogant at times, but I didn't expect that she'd be so high to think so little of me. And I considered her my friend, a close friend.
