"Soooo..." Ebony sighed, glancing between the Swan couple as they had a stare of.
Tension was in the air as the two sat on either side of the dinning table whilst Ebony sat in the chair at the head of the table. Unluckily for her, it was right between the two people who were now mentally sparring.
"Let's get a divorce?"
~~~~~
A few hours earlier.
"It's okay. Shhh, it's okay...I won't hurt you." Ebony soothed as she stroked the sobbing woman's back in circles.
Managing to convince the woman to go inside, they were both sat on a the leather couch sitting next to each other.
"M-my son-" the woman barely managed to say as she looked up at Ebony with puffy eyes stained with tears.
"Don't worry, it's okay. I took him upstairs into one of the rooms with a bed.I just thought humans were weaker and he might catch a cold if left outside... Oh! by the way I also borrowed some of your clothes out the wardrobe hope you don't mind, hehe! " Ebony comforted, shuffling onto the other couch to face the devastated woman.
" Oh-ohh that's f-fine" the woman started, placing her arms on her knees as she played with her fingers nervously.
"Take your time. I guess for people who were raised there whole lives thinking they were the only human-like species out there, finding out that there's things like werewolves was a bit of a shocker." Ebony eased back into the opposite sofa, lying one arm over the back while the other gently rested on the arm of the chair. .
" C-can you tell me about m-my husband? What he d-did to you? What is all th-this for exactly? Everything, please tell m-me everything" the woman hunched over, placing her hands on her face in stress.
"Everything? Not possible I'm afraid. Cause not even I know everything...But what I do know is that it's dangerous and terrifying whatever it is this organisation is planning, the one your husband works for."
Taking it in, the woman dropped her hands as she listened carefully to Ebony as she recalled how her Ghosty had helped to kill her parents so they could kidnap and experiment on her. At some points the woman cried and at others she flinched in disgust at the horrific things her husband and colleagues had done to her.
After an hour or so they stopped as the young boy ran down the stairs into his mother's arms. Trembling the boy glared at Ebony in fear to which she shrugged off and got of the couch.
"Well I guess that's all there is to discuss here. Congratulations you passed my test so you don't have to worry, I won't seek revenge on you. But you have to swear not to tell others because you'll not just have me on your backs." Ebony yawned as she patted her growling stomach ," Hahah, emm...you wouldn't perhaps have any meat in your home would you."
Laughing softly, the woman stood up telling her son not to worry anymore. Not that it had any effect, but Ebony was still thankful that at least his mother didn't see her as a monster.
"I have chicken and some minced beef in the fridge, would that be OK?" the woman asked, smiling over her paled face.
"Yeah that's fine... I'll even eat it raw if you can't be bothered cooking, hahaha" Ebony joked to no one's amusement as the boy shivered in fear and the mother left the room into the room right of the porch, which ebony assume was the kitchen, to prepare a meal.
"Monster..." the boy muttered under his breath as he glared up at her from the couch he had just sat on.
"Monster?" Ebony asked innocently as his face turned white in shock that she heard him. Deciding to tease him further she pouted,
"awww, you thought I couldn't hear you, right?"
"N-no I knew. W-why would I say it if I didn't want you to hear it m-m-mm-monster!" he blurted out, holding in tears that were threatening to spill.
"I'm not called monster, I'm called Ebony. And you are?" she entertained as the child struggled to talk back.
"N-none of your business monster!" he yelled, crossing his arms and puffing out his cheeks like a chipmunk.
'Wow you can tell the apple doesn't fall far from the tree with this one, huh. What's with the arrogance and the indignant look on his face. It's not like I've even done anything yet.'
Ebony internally sighed.
"Right, well I've got a few things that I could call you: Ghosties kid, chipmunk face, bed wetter-" she rolled off, before he interrupted.
"W-wait wait! Shut up, my name is Tom." he yelled, flushing at the cruel nicknames she was giving him. It wasn't his fault he wet himself with fear when he watched her transform.
Hysterically laughing, she hunched over in pain as the hunger clawed away at her stomach. Usually she could survive longer but with using so much energy to transform into a wolf and healing her whole body, it was fair to say that she was a tad bit hungry.
"Okay, so your name is Tom. Nice to meet you." she greeted, lowering her head as a sign of acknowledgement.
"What are you doing?" he asked, puzzled at her strange behaviour. People would usually just say hello or shake hands if it was a really important person, he had never seen someone lower their head at him.
"What do you mean I was showing my sign of respect. All wolves do this. Was it wrong?" she tentatively asked, scrunching her face in confusion.
"People don't do that it's silly, hahaha!" giggling, the boy curled up on the couch slowly lowering his guard towards her.
Smiling, Ebony wondered how Ghosty managed to be so indifferent towards a kid this cute. "So tell me what do humans do then?"
Just as she was about to start, the woman returned holding a plate of mince beef patties. Ebony drookled at the meaty smell that now filled the room, licking her lips before heading to the dining table.
"What were you two talking about that was so amusing?" The woman smiled, easing at the sight of her happy son. All of them had sat at the table around the plate of meat and cooked veg she brought for her and Tom.
"I've just realised I haven't told you my name!" startled, Ebony lowered her head introducing herself politely, "my name is Ebony from the Snow family."
Unsure of what the strange greeting was, the mother decide to introduce herself aswell.
"Oh, my name is Jane and this is my son Tom. You already know our surnames right."
"Yup! Well this looks delish..." Ebony looked up at Jane with sparkling eyes, waiting for her to say she could eat. Noticing, she chuckled softly while nodding her head, "Don't mind me, hehe..."
'Finally, after waiting so long for some actual solid food I'm served up this delicious meal by none other than my enemies wife! What a strange day but it's safe to say it turned out ok, for now anyway...'
After eating almost a whole plate of meat and the raw chicken that was in the fridge, Ebony finally felt full. She sat on the couch comfortably while staring out of the window revealing the garden. Birds quietened down as the sky grew darker and the crescent moon glowed softly, surrounded by the small stars.
Ebony realised it had been ages since she had looked out at the sky, so she indulged her senses by heading out into the garden and lying on the dry grass. Reflecting the night sky in her eyes, she inhaled a deep breath of the cool night air.
'This is peaceful... I could just go to sleep here...'
Dozing off on the grass absentmindedly, she eventually went into deep sleep, not worrying about being tortured the next day. Only to be woken up by the sound of raised voices.
"... Really! You didn't know you were signing yourself up to something that bad! Don't make excuses, she told me everything!... How could you? When we have a child of our own. How?" Ebony could hear Jane's voice exhausted as she argued with someone. Knowing it was probably Ghosty, which meant he had woken up, she jolted awake and strolled to the glass door.
"I regret it now. I shouldn't have done any of this in the first place. I used you and Tom in an unforgivable way. All I've done these past years has caused suffering. You know what the pathetic thing is, I don't even know why." Ghosty paled as he lowered his head in shame.
Entering, Ebony sat on the head of the table as she watched the argument roll out. Amusing as it was, she was still zombified and needed to sleep more. Deciding it was best to get this over quickly, she signaled them to sit at the table and talk it out quietly.
"What do you mean you used me and Tom!?" Shocked at the unknown information, she felt sick. What had her husband used them for? Did he even love her?
"I-. It was a contract relationship with the organisation. They chose an average person to become my wife it was to draw away attention from outsiders...b-but I care about you and Tom, even if I didn't show it all these years. I just didn't realise it till now."
'where is the kid anyway? I didn't see him when I came in. Did he go up to his room to sleep? I guess this isn't the type of argument a kid should have to listen to .' Looking around the room, Ebony's thoughts got interrupted by the raised voice of Jane.
"Well it's too late now isn't it!? How dare you use me and our son as a fake family! None of it was real...all these years you...I... I loved you. How could you?" crying from heartbreak, Jane wiped the constant flow of tears from her face as she turned to face her husband.
" Let's get a divorce. " Devoid of emotion, Jane stared at her husband.
Ebony, noticing the tense atmosphere growing and the devastated look on Ghosties face as he realised what she had just said, decide to break the silence.
"Sooooo..." opening her mouth but unsure what to say she paused, thinking of what to do. Luckily for her Ghosty had the guts to open his quivering mouth.
"Let's get a divorce?" tears formed in his watery eyes as they turned a light shade of pink. "Divorce? I don't understand..."
"Do you need me to spell it out for you?... Did you really expect me to remain married to someone who tortures kids and uses people for his own entertainment. Ha. No way!" she laughed sarcastically, as she left the room saying, "I'll get the papers all you need to do is sign them and leave this fake house and fake family. For good."
