"Home?" his baffled face said it all, there was a strong sense of disbelief in his tone as he repeated, "What home? There is no home for the likes of us."
Ebony sighed, unable to come up with any credible reason he was wrong. She had only had one home and it was stripped from her and afterwards she was chucked from place to place in confinement.
"Face facts we don't have any way out of this. I bet we won't even be able to get out of here unless it's in cage being shipped off elsewhere."
Ebony's eyes flickered with rage as she recalled the last time she had attempted to escape and the organisation had taken both of them captive. 'Not again. Never again will they take what's mine.'
Noticing the dark expression on her face, Charlie quickly grabbed onto her hand to which she snapped out of her daze and blushed. Nervous, Charlie removed his hand again only the feel it being tugged upwards to the girls warm warm cheek.
Despite her pale skin there was a delicate warmth hidden beneath it that was cool and refreshing yet at the same time could make someone fall into a deep slumber. Entranced, Charlie lost his resolve to escape her grasp.
"Mine."
"Huh?!" shocked, Charlie looked at her crescent eyes as they glittered with possessiveness.
"Mine. My mate. Never again shall we be torn apart." she sweetly sang as she nuzzled into his hand. She had been waiting for what felt like forever and now that she had gotten what she wanted she would never let go.
"I'm not sure what you mean. Mate?" he queried, trying to take his hand away from her before she dragged him in even further.
"Your..." she started, slightly opening her eyes that were glazed like a fantasist dreaming of kidnapping her loved one, "My. MATE."
"I still don't get-" he stammered as she pulled him in to a tight embrace. Her warm breath brushed against his ear as he enhaled the deep scent of blood mixed in with the freshness of pine and morning due. All of which were spiking his appetite.
"You, are the only one in the entire world that was meant for me. And I- I am the only one in the world that is meant for you. We are destined." she hummed, breathing in his scent of freshly fallen snow still being carried in an ice cold wind.
"Destiny?" he muttered, while failing to escape her grip. The intoxicating smell was smashing down every wall of common sense he had left.
"Yep. And now that I have found my destiny, I refuse to let it escape. So stay close mate." She warned in a sickly sweet tone as her fingers trailed to the nape of his neck, circling around as her sharpend nails lightly brushed over his skin.
Whincing, Charlie gulped down the strange sense of satisfaction he felt from hearing her words. It was different from when the guards warned him not to try and escape. It was more like she was desperately seeking his company and couldn't live on without him.
"Hmm... We should get going the rest of the guards here will be on their way and I don't want a repeat of the incident eight years ago." she bitterly stated, digging her nails into the palm of her hand, resisting the urge to mark him then and there.
"L-let me go then!" flushed, he managed to push her of him, "well... Lead the way."
"Ha!" Ebony chuckled at his nervous expression while transforming back into her wolf form. Her wolf's paws dampened on the soaked floor as she remembered her mate had been drowning in the water that was now sinking into her fur.
Swallowing the shock of seeing her wolf form, Charlie stepped back only to gain the attention from the large presence in front of him. Growling in disapproval at his reaction, that could only be seen as rejection to her, she prowled forward wondering why her human hadn't marked him yet.
'Don't get all temperamental over a little thing like that. He just reacted the same way all people do when they see you. Can't you be the tiniest bit lenient with him, he is our mate after all. Luckily for us he isn't human so he'll feel the bond between us and eventually we will be able to mark him.'
Satisfied by her humans words of rationality, she calmed down and ducked the front of her body on the ground allowing her mate to sit on top of her. Noticing, Charlie moved cautiously towards the wolf recalling their last encounter.
' I'm a fool. This wolf is no threat to me and from what I can recall from last time it's more likely to kill me from affection than anger.'
Dropping down his guard, he strolled towards the wolf stroking the fur on her neck as she chirped in approval. Purring she nudged him to get onto her back so they could leave this hellish place, that only enraged her the more time they were stood there.
"Okay, okay I'm getting on." he laughed, whilst pulling himself onto her back.
Standing up, the wolf's eyes became serious as she prepared herself for a killing spree. Although Ebony was sickened by the thought of killing another human, her wolf felt entirely different on the matter. She wouldn't kill unnecessarily, but if threatened she wouldn't hesitate to detach a few heads from their bodies or simply paralyse them while cracking their ribcage in her Jaws.
Grunting, Ebony's wolf strided back the way they had came until they had climbed the stairs and were faced with the door to the pool area. Their was a deathaning silence on the other side of the door that made the wolfs hair stand on end as she knocked the door off its hinges.
'Huh there's no one here how-'
"Suspicious" Charlie finished Ebony's thoughts as he clung on tighter to her fur. Although he was good at acting tough, there was something about the silence before the storm that crushed his sense of direction.
Due to his fathers abuse, he was constantly on edge waiting for the next smack or beating. However that was bearable because he expected it and had adapted. It was much worse when he was expecting to be hit and it never happened.
There was no knowing when the tables would turn and it would be so easy to slip into a false sense of security of 'That's the end of the abuse'. When in fact it was just a matter of time until a switch went off inside his father's head and the abuse started all over again destroying the small piece of hope he had left.
The same feelings of 'when will we be attacked?' and 'surely it won't be this simple' were terrifying. His breathing began to speed up as his sight darkened due to the blood filling his head.
Noticing that her mate was breathing unsteadily, Ebony decided to mindlink him however after several attempts of him not replying she began to panic.
'Why is he not answering? What is wrong with him? Is he even here anymore?'
Anxiety rushed through Ebony and her wolf, sensing something was wrong, began growling and hissing in defense. Running forward, she made sure not to drop her mate as she burst through the glass window at the side of the pool.
Smashing through it, the glass shattered and fell down onto the piece of garden below as loud voices boomed outside through speakerphones. It was too late to hesitate as dozens of guns aimed towards her followed by noise of guns preparing to be fired.
Landing on the ground she darted into the garden that was below the pool area, desperately trying to get rid of the people on her trail. Sweetly scented trees acted as distractions as she swirved in and out of them. She searched for the familiar scent of Jane or Tom, as she rushed to find safety.
'Where are they? Where are they!? Where- finally...'
Catching onto their scents, she spun into the direction of the car and sprinted as fast as she could, still continuing to hold Charlie. Eventually, she reached to start of the car park and her eyes flickered over to where the car was parked.
' I just need to reach the car and we'll be fine. We can build a home somewhere new and everything will be-'
"ES261 STOP WHERE YOU ARE!" a loud voice boomed through a speaker as she stepped onto the flat concrete in the car park.
Turning her head slowly, her wolf vibrated as a low menacing growl erupted from her throat. Tired of being hunted and captured, she decided to end all the suffering by eliminating the source of it all.
"ES261 SIT DOWN AND DON'T MOVE BEFORE WE FIRE! I REPEAT SIT DOWN AND DON'T MOVE OR WE WILL FIRE!" the coward hiding behind the speaker yelled, talking as though the he had already won the game.
'Who do they think they are? Where is this arrogance from, do they think they already have me trapped. Ha! Human trash. I'd rather have no place to call home my whole life, than live only to see the four walls of a cage every day.'
Revealing her teeth, ebony's wolf, snarled at the men emerging from the surrounding bushes and tree's. Ebony laughed in pity at their stupidity, wondering where they got their confidence from.
A quiet muffled voice could be heard on the wolf's back as he tightly griped onto strands of the wolf's fur. Silence followed as the wolf haulted her snarl's and growl's, listening in on the small voice as though it were the only thing that mattered amongst the deadly battlefield before her.
"I... Want to go..." his broken speech slurred in his half asleep state.
'Go? Where? Does he want to leave me? Is he wanting to surrender to them and be torn apart? I won't allow-'
"... Home"
