Chapter 29 - Awakening

"... Home."

That was all it took for Ebony's wolf to snap and begin tearing each and every person limb from limb. Brushing off the bullets that were fired from all corners while still managing to protect her mate from any damage.

Although the masses of men armed with guns were firing relentlessly, the wolf continued to attack with full force, ripping apart ten men at a time. It was merciless and almost cruel but it was all fed by the desire to survive.

'Ughh, how many more people can they have left. I'm tired of watching things being tainted in their vile blood.'

Fired up by the sudden repulsion to their existence Ebony's wolf continued to indifferently slaughter the last stragglers. High pitched squeals of soldiers trying to escape could be heard, along with the pleads for mercy that were never answered.

It wasn't long before the only sound in the car park was the savage panting of a blood stained wolf. Looking around with a murderous glare, she realised that there were no more people to kill.

Calming down, her head lowered to look at the luminous red blood that had puddled down at her feet. Everything in her life was being tainted in the vile colour, that she was beginning to think the world was painted red to begin with.

Snapping her our of her miserable trance was a gun shot from the roof of the building.

'what the hell was that? Who dared to shoot at me-'

"*cough, cough*"

Before she even looked around her shoulder, she knew that the shooter hadn't fired at her but the one on her back. Her heart stopped in fear of what had happened and all she could hear was the pulsating anger and sadness echoing in her head.

As if the world had stopped for a split second, a surge of endless power was fired into her heart, knocking the air out her lungs as it came. Along with the anger and rage was the deep sadness of losing her other half, it was so dark yet at the same time blinding and suffocating.

Perhaps it was the immense pain and suffering she experienced that awakened her true nature. A true monster.

Ice froze over the warm blood beneath her paws, freezing up the treacled trails of blood pouring out from the fresh corpses. Crackling noises that came from the frozen bodies, echoed in the dense and frosted air as a sinister chill emanated from the enormous snarling wolf.

Snapping her jaws frantically as she hissed and growled at the shooter above, her eyes glowed a deep azure blue as little bolts of lightning flickered over them.

Menacingly she glared at the shooter, who shook before reloading their weapon and aiming at her. Realising what he was doing, Ebony's wolf raised her head a howled, calling out to the awakening power within her.

At this point the whole car park had frozen over like a modern art piece, the water fountains froze into an old vintage photograph as the fish within them were captured whilst still releasing their last breath. Blades of grass, coated white, snapped as the birds resting on the branches of trees fell down and shattered like ornaments.

Darkening, the sky became cold and stern, smothering out the light with a thick blanket of darkness. The ground trembled as a metallic scent filled the air, before eruptions of thunder and lightning hit the surface of the ground.

Spreading out of Ebony, the streaks of lightning slowly stalked up towards the wall of the building before a larger bolt of lightning struck down on the shooter. Sparks of electricity sprayed out amongst the splatters of blood, that rained down onto the ground below.

A sinister growl erupted from her throat and although everything was over she still felt hollow and numb to the pain that was squirming inside the pit of her stomach.

Refusing to allow her emotions to get the better of her, she reined in her powers, halting the spread of ice and frost in the car park. Softly sitting into the rink of blood, she nudged the limp body from her back, praying he was still alive despite knowing that she had already experienced the pain of losing her mate.

Tears trickled down the side of her face as she watched the still lump of flesh that was ice cold. A low whimper escaped the wolf as she rolled the body over repeatedly with her snout in an attempt to wake him.

'Ahhhh! It h-hurts! Someone stop the pain it's ripping me apart! Please h-help me...'

"Child, what are you crying for? Nobody who has been gifted the power of the winter witch should suffer enough to cry this painfully. Its almost unbearable to listen to." a soft angelic voice entered Ebony's chaotic thoughts, whispering words of comfort and warmth.

" Dear what is the matter? Why do I sense such a deep coldness within your heart as though everything that kept you alive is no longer there? " the woman's voice kept replaying in Ebony's mind, reminding her of losing both her parents and mate.

"I see the humans have became a jealous species, they always were but to this extent... I really didn't know how cruel the humans would be towards a species I had created. I thought I was doing the right thing but perhaps I was negligent of the future impact of my decision..." a sad tone entered her voice as she sighed in pity towards her beloved creatures.

" I'm sorry, do not worry my child I will try and use the last extent of my power to try and help you. I will never be able to fix the wrongs I have committed however allow me to help return your fated person back to you..." the woman went on to talk about how to revive her dead mate whilst gifting Ebony the last remaining power of the winter witch.

" Charlie! Wake up! Please... Please wake up"
