"Wait!" Ebony huffed, holding the arm of Jane who was in the midst of locking the trunk of the car, "W-where are you going?"
Looking at her panicked face Jane smiled softly, "I've seen from last night, you two live in a world that me and Tom just aren't part of. We can't survive in the wild like you and my duty is to protect my child... I'm sorry."
"N-no! U-umm you will be hunted for sure are you going to be fine on the run your whole life?" Ebony stuttered as she struggled to keep up with the conversation. Although she didn't need them she was still somewhat attached and worried they would be put in harms way if they weren't protected.
" We'll be fine I know someone who's able to help us dissappear of the grid for good, I was mostly just waiting for you and your..." she looked over at Charlie who was busy leaning against a tree in the distance glaring at them, " *cough* friend to find a safe space to stay."
"You're seriously going to be fine!? If you die make sure I never find out I don't want to hold the guilt of being partly responsible for your death" Ebony sighed before hugging Jane and walking over to the front seat of the car where Tom was sat.
"Bye" Tom muttered looking up at her almost indifferent expression, "you could at least pretend your upset we're leaving."
"Ha!" she ruffled his hair as he pushed her off, "just because I'm not upset doesn't mean I'm not gonna miss you stupid."
She grinned at him as she felt a hand wrap around her stomach tugging her backwards, "Bye."
"Charlie?" usually she would feel his presence beforehand but he had came over at such a speed, "have you came over to say goodbye as well?"
He nodded as she felt his hand tightly grip her wrist before repeating himself, "bye. " Although the second time seemed more like a threat than anything.
"Keep safe and I wish you luck!" Ebony yelled at the car that was driving off as soon as Jane got the message and hopped in the car st record speed.
"Let's go." Charlie dragged her back to the camp and sat her down at the camp fire, wrapping her up in lots of blankets.
"Haha," she smiled up at him cluelessly, "Whats wrong?"
"Eat." he chucked a plate of meat in front of her as she licked her lips about to tuck in before pausing.
"... This is weird. What's with the sudden treatment?" she queried, continuing to grab a leg of a deer, "Mmm tshates gud tho *gulp*"
"Ah I'm glad." he smiled the tension easing in his face.
"Don't avoid the question," her face darkened as she glared at him.
"I... I don't want you to be malnourished." he mumbled looking away embarrassed.
"What's with that?" she giggled looking at his redened face, "Why would I be malnourished? Did you forget I'm a werewolf?"
"N-no! But y-yesterday!" he jumped up in shock as she brushed her palm against his cheek, her two predator like eyes meeting his.
"I did it so don't act so shy and most of all don't feel guilty or responsible. This is my choice, I want you to rely on me." she smirked as her words were lased with a faint warning that if his thoughts were to ever guide him away from her she won't tolerate it.
" But-! "
" I think you mean yes, don't you? " she slightly darkened her gaze as he gulped.
" Yeah, I meant to say yes..." he crumbled as he struggled to argue with such an overwhelming presence.
"Aww... We should start thinking of what we're going to do next... after I finish eating this meal you prepared for me of course!" she quickly brightened back to her original self causing the tension to dissappear in and instant.
"Yeah, to be honest I..." he knew the topic of getting revenge was a sensitive one but he was determined to convince her to give up and just accept the peace they already had.
"What?" she looked back up at him puzzled.
"Umm, Nevermind." he smiled cautiously.
"Umm, OK weirdo" she laughed jokingly as she lied back on his lap. Looking up at his eyes she closed hers gently, "... Like this. We can enjoy the peace just like this..."
He eased his shoulders and ran his hands through her hair, it was still as soft as he remembered. Smiling affectionately, he leaned down and kissed her forehead, "forever."
"Hmm..." she nuzzled in slowly, drifting asleep on his lap as he watched her every movement.
Waking up, she realised she was inside the tent, "Charlie?"
Scampering out and looking around in the pitch black she rubbed her forehead before noticing the lit fire and new plates of food. He had clearly been there.
"Perhaps he's in the forest still... but..." she sniffed the cold breeze and struggled to find his scent, "grrr!"
She clenched her fists in anger and looked down at the plates of food noticing a small slip of paper beneath it. Picking it up she glanced the page up and down before her expression darkened and her body began to transform.
~~~
"Phew, I hope she read my note," he sighed, wiping the sweat from his head with his sleeve, "this is the only way. If she wants to get revenge and I want to continue this peace."
Off in the distance he could hear a wolf howling and he was under no illusion that it was her. He could hear the anger and pain in her voice yet he knew that her idea of revenge would never end and he'd rather finish it quickly.
'Afterall I've worked on the inside, I know what branches to hit and what ones will fall as a result. In other words I'll end all our struggles in a few years whereas you would drag it out for who knows how long. After I come back we can finally be happy with no worries and I can love you without carrying this pain and guilt - Charlie '
