Two people in a small rundown apartment stared intently at each other. One sat on a chair while the other was sitting down after falling off the bed. The staring contest lasted quite a while with the woman on the chair repeatedly saying 'don't worry I do not bite'. This scene was quite funny especially after that comment, the man on the floor became even more frightened.
The man looked around helplessly and after confirming the he really wouldn't be eaten did he get up slowly and sat back on the bed but for some reason he looked away either from fear or shame.
It was actually both because in his head two thoughts were running repeatedly, "What a shame that it was a girl who rescued me" and "She is so scary"
As if the woman read his mind, she said, "Are you feeling ashamed that it was a woman who rescued you? Or are you actually just shy" The last sentence was said with the woman's face hovering dangerously at the other. The man moved even further away while staring at her, unblinking for some reason he wanted to ask, 'do you read minds?' but the words never left his mouth.
"I am Gianna by the way, but you can call me G" She said while offering her hand out but the recipient never acknowledged it. She felt it was quite a shame because she was a good person wasting good intentions.
Gia tried to make more conversations but was met with silence. With her efforts wasted, she decided to make some food and some ginger soup because she got rained on earlier. Every time she was in the kitchen, her head turned to check if the man was still in the room, only then was she sure that there was someone who was going to give out some answers.
The food was ready in no time and with just a single bite, the man spat it out. Gia tasted it herself, it made her proud that the food was good, it was only that the salt was too much. The man felt like he would rather eat poison than taste something so bad in his life again but then looking at Gia who was eating with relish, he could not help but pick up the spoon again.
It tasted really awful but he still wiped the plate clean. He had just finished when he felt a stare. Compared to the attitude the girl before him showed in the past, this was much serious that he even felt a little frightened.
The air became rigid all of a sudden and he felt a little suffocated but even more when questions were showered at his direction.
"Who were those men from earlier?"
"Who are you and why were they following you?"
The two questions came in quick succession that he was a little bewildered at first. He felt that, if you want to start a conversation, asking someone's name first would be quite appropriate. Looking up, seeing that gaze, words really started flowing out of his mouth.
"I am Sean and I do not know who they are"
Gia felt that it was quite strange. He was obviously Asian but the men who were following him were white so it was quite possible that he did not know who they were. Looking at him, he did not look like a local, he resembled a tourist more so the question left was, 'who really was this man that even the top mercenaries were sent to drop him? did he really not know them or was there some information being shielded.
Based on Gia's Intel, the group that killed her parents had not shown up for nearly ten years and she had only run into them when she met the man sitting before him. She wondered if it had anything to do with the attack on her home ten years ago.
To know the relation, she had to stick to this Sean person, if that even was his name, quite tightly. She felt like this really was the beginning of finding a truth that was well hidden for ten years.
With the change of events, Sean had to sleep at Gia's for the night. Some of his wounds were quite deep and his face was quite swollen due to the punches he had received earlier. His hair was quite long, reaching just above his shoulders.
Gia soon found a problem, there was only a single bedroom in the house. On the other side, she was a girl and wanted to have the bed but Sean was injured so letting him have the bed was a better option. Gia had to swallow her pride, taking the coach. Sean on the other hand was not polite at all, getting cozy under the blankets.
They both fell asleep simultaneously but a few hours later, sweat dripped down her face and her breathing became labored, she was having a dream.
...
A mansion came into view, laughter echoed from inside and filled the whole place. A woman was in the kitchen cooking. Though there were many servants who could do it, she always preferred to do it herself. A man was sitting at the table, holding a newspaper. A young girl sat on the other side of the table with books in front of her. The scene was quite beautiful and the mood quite harmonious but things quickly changed.
The girl was in her room, hiding under the bed, panic filled her face. After a few minutes she got out from under the bed and peeped through the door. Her mother who was cooking a few minutes ago was now lying in a pool of blood, her father was still alive and not long after his lifeless body also dropped down.
One man turned and the red dove at base of the coat became visible...
Panic
"Gia...Gia..."
It seemed like someone was calling my name.
Panic
The voice was quite loud, calling with urgency.
Sean stared at the sweat filled face. Tears were running down those cheeks but the eyes remained tightly shut.
After a few calls, Gia shot up from her sleep, tightly holding Sean's hand. He grimaced in pain but still let her hold on to it.
Looking up, the panic from earlier was gone and Gia's face had a never seen before sharpness. He wanted to spit out a few words but his mouth was covered with her hands that was when he heard it,
Footsteps. It was not just a single one.
Someone was here.
