The classical creepy black van waited for them. Cody shoved Connor in ahead of him into a corner and sat in front of him blocking him from talking to the three men.
"So assuming we let the two of you live. What are you going to do with drop in here." Asked one of them.
"Do you even need to ask." Replied Cody.
"The name is Connor, not drop in." Growled Connor.
Cody shoved him hard. And Connor smacked against the frame of the truck his lip bleeding slightly. What kind of friend whacks the other that hard! A slight shove would have been perfectly fine.
"Shut up if you want me to bother keeping you alive." Cody growled.
A few minutes later the van stopped. Connor tried to look out a window but Cody shoved him again forcing him to stay sitting. Just when had he gotten so strong. He was way more powerful than Connor remembered. Heck he was way taller than him.
"Wait here." Said one getting out. The two others also got out and stood a little away from the door. Probably scared of Cody's speed. They looked fast enough to catch him if he tried to run and even if he did run he didn't want to leave Cody. Even if the new Cody scared him, he was still Cody…. right?
Cody adjusted his position curling up slightly. It looked as if he was cold. Then Connor heard his voice.
"Don't look at me, and don't say anything loud enough for them to hear. Also try to make it look as if you aren't talking at all." Cody said.
Connor immediately looked at him. From his current position his jacket hid his mouth from view.
"Ugh what did I just say." Cody growled. Connor flinched looking away again. "Why on Earth did you follow me, do you have a death wish or something." Cody growled.
Connor listed his arm onto his leg and set his chin on it as if resting. Then out of the side of his mouth he murmured "Do I need a reason to worry if a friend I like keeps running off in the middle of the night? Also why wouldn't you tell me you're some CIA big shot?"
"Maybe I don't want to see you end up dead. These guys are dangerous and you have no training. Also not a big shot." Cody growled back. Then he added "First chance you get run and don't look back. No flinching, no second guessing. This is non-negotiable got it?"
"But…." Started Connor, but he was cut off by the return of the three men.
"This way," said the first directing them toward a door. The place was even more run down than most abandon buildings. The second area was literally half collapsed into a giant muddy puddle. Pond might have been more accurate. Pieces of rebar stuck out at weird angles. There also went any places that screamed escape route. Connor still was against leaving Cody even if he did seem fast.
The door on the far side slammed open and a large man of pure muscle came out. His aura seemed to shriek bad guy. Tattoos lines every inch of his body.
"Boss Yammado sir!" Shouted the three guys in unison as they dropped to their knees. Beside Connor Cody let out a slightly annoyed sounding hiss.
"I hear your looking for me and the King." Said Yammado. "To what do I owe the pleasure?"
Cody met his eyes with ease while Connor was sitting on the ground hardly able to move. The feeling of dread around this guy was suffocating.
"The usual." Replied Cody with ease. "The CIA wants you to stop testing drugs on innocent humans, in fact we'd prefer if you just turned yourself into a potted plant and stopped causing problems altogether."
"You came all this way to say that?" he asked suspiciously.
"No." replied Cody, "There is more of course. I want information on the King. Turns out the CIA is willing to offer you better terms if we get some information back. You should consider it since we already found you."
"I could easily move." Yammado replied. "Could you find me again so easily?"
"Do you want to find out?" Cody retorted.
Yammado paused pulling a dart gun from his back pocket. Connor felt Cody stiffen beside him.
Yammado continued, "I assume you know what this is but I'll clarify just to be sure. This is an Onyx Dark Gun. Its darts can pass through any magic so they can't be blocked. Currently in it is a nice experimental concoction of Dark Majikku. A normal human or even Majikku user would die within ten minutes. Even as a double element like you'd probably die within an hour maybe two if you're insanely lucky."
"I'm plenty fast enough to avoid a slow weapon like that." Cody replied.
Yammado smiled widely. "What about your friend there, and yes the van was bugged I know he's not a random bystander."
He lifted the dart gun and shot right at Connor. Who only had time to stiffen before he was suddenly pushed out of the way and the dart embedded itself into Cody's shoulder.
Connor let out a gasp, "Cody!" he yelled. To his surprise Cody got up as if completely fine. He reached over pulling the dart from his arm. He paused putting it into his pocket.
"Thanks for the evidence." Cody said. Yammado stared at him his face full of anger.
"You really do live up to all the nicknames I've heard. Pity you tend to work alone though." Yammado let out an eerie laugh.
"Dark element is nothing new to me." Cody growled back. Then he smiled? Connor was stunned was the drug affecting him in a weird laughable way? "And who said I'm alone?" Cody stated.
Yammado looked at Connor, "He's nothing special." He looked back at Cody with suspicion in his eye.
"That should have been plenty of time." Said Cody still with an amused look on his face. "Blaze your turn." Cody yelled.
Cody threw up a bright shield around Connor and himself as the place turned into a giant pile of blue flames. The flames died down as fast as they had come, leaving three dead bodies and one mostly dead Yammado.
"Overkill much? We were told to bring them alive." Muttered Cody. Another man jumped down from the now fried roof.
"We only need Yammado alive, and come on I know you are happy to see me." He said.
"Get lost already. Boss is going to be ticked by your body count and probably me for letting you." Cody muttered. He turned to Connor "You good?"
Connor got to his feet nodding his head. Good? How does someone even ask that so normally after all this. Good didn't begin to give him enough options on phrases to describe this.
"I" Connor started, then Cody stumbled. "Forget me," Connor growled, "Look at yourself, are you good should be what I'm asking."
"I'm fine…." Said Cody as he then crumpled to the floor.
