"Boooooooooooooom"
As the ceiling shattered, the sound echoed throughout the structure. Pieces of the ceiling began to fall to the ground, causing a mess all over. Some of these pieces landed on the chimaeras' heads, injuring the weaker ones while stunning the others.
Despite the fact that everyone's eyes were on the ceiling, some had already blamed Leigh because he was the one who started punching the building, but that theory was quickly forgotten when an extraordinarily bright winged humanoid creature entered the building through the ceiling.
The entity was none other than one of the mid-ranking angels sent by General Javan. The angel glanced down at those below with arrogant and pompous eyes.
The chimaeras had hopeful and cheerful expressions on their faces because they recognized what they saw as an angel. At the very least, it represented one, and their feeble minds had led them to regard the angels as beings who had come to save their lives by transforming them back into humans. Some even believed that the angels were there to protect them from Leigh, who had the appearance of a demon.
On the other hand, unlike the chimaeras, Leigh feared the angels because he knew why they were there. The moment Leigh saw the angel, his senses warned him that he was in danger. Even if he felt a connection to them, Leigh's instincts taught him that angels were his inborn adversaries, his exact opposites.
Leigh had also linked the angels' bright and relaxing aura to the heaven bear that had attacked him out of nowhere, allowing him to realize that they were most likely there to kill him, much like the heaven bear.
He wasn't entirely wrong. They were definitely there to slay him, but they were also going to kill the chimaeras, who were abominations in the eyes of the angels since they had been led astray from their deity.
Only a few minutes later, three more angels joined their buddy to begin their extermination.
The angels could already see that there was only one evil presence and no group of demons, which provided them more options in terms of battle strategy.
The three angels who arrived last steadily descended as the number of chimaeras with hopeful and shining eyes swelled, but it all came to an end as one of the angels stroke her spear with a simple wrist movement, vertically cutting a chimaera in half without even a single ounce of effort.
Hope changed to despair as those with no will screamed and ran or surrounded to their fate, while those with greater tenacity attempted to resist.
During all of this, the angel who had arrived first locked eyes with Leigh and sprinted forward with his wings, his sword in front of his chest.
Leigh attempted to avoid the angel but failed miserably due to its speed. The angel inserted his sword into Leigh's upper body and smiled as he drew his blade from what he assumed was a dead body that would soon crumble to dust because of his sword's ability.
But, to the angel's surprise, only a few dark indigo grains had fallen on the ground where the demon had obviously been hit.
After all, Leigh was a unique entity known exclusively to specific entities; no angel knew about his species or how he had survived that encounter.
That little distraction provided Leigh enough time to dash and charge with his body towards the somewhat elevated angel.
Although the angel was preoccupied for a short time, it wasn't long enough for Leigh to reach out and strike the angel since the angel eventually spotted Leigh's whereabouts and simply averted his charge.
After all, the angel's might was that of a mid-ranking creature, but Leigh had barely reached the apex of the lower level before succumbing to the angel's sword.
After dodging Leigh's assault, the angel once more dashed towards Leigh and delivered a kick, throwing Leigh towards the walls of the massive hall, causing him to crash into the walls.
The collision of the wall and Leigh who was kicked with great force caused the building to rumble while the smoke of the debris scattered around Leigh's location.
Leigh saw no way out of that predicament without using his ability, so he cast a shadow wall to limit the angel's eyesight while the angel flew towards him to end the fight.
Leigh's shadows can affect any creature, regardless of power, because it does not target the creatures themselves but the environment, and no matter who Leigh encounters, changes in the environment affect everyone around it, including the angels.
Despite the fact that the angel's vision was obscured by the shadow, he continued his charge since the angel knew he was much stronger than Leigh and that no trick could change that, but the angel had no idea that Leigh could sense the presence of people in his shadow.
As the angel passed through the gloomy wall and raced at Leigh with his sword, Leigh dodged in a direction that would be the most difficult for the angel to turn towards due to his speed.
The angel was stunned to see Leigh dodge his charge because all logic went against that move, yet the angel was a trained warrior and he continued to attack his target without being distracted.
While Leigh battled the angel with his shadows, the other three angels went around slaughtering the chimaeras who had no chance in that battle. Even those who fought were killed since their bodies and weaponry were like butter in comparison to the angels' power and weapons.
Screams and cries were heard in that room by all the living beings as the angels slaughtered every creature without discrimination.
Kalen was out of moves and afraid, so he looked at the man he blamed for everything that had happened, Leigh. He was certain that Leigh was somehow responsible for all of these happenings because his strength was akin to that of angels and he was a demon, the enemy of angels.
When Kalen understood this, he vowed to attack Leigh; he had long realised that he could do nothing against the angels, but he wanted to kill the person responsible for all of this before being slain himself.
He rushed in the direction of Leigh and sprinted there as the angel gradually overwhelmed and cornered Leigh.
"I'll kill you Leigh, you bastard."
Kalen yelled as he ran at Leigh with his only weapon, a blade. Both the angel and Leigh turned their heads to stare at the chimaera, who in their view was nothing more than an ant coming towards them with murderous purpose.
Leigh was taken aback by Kalen's actions, but he had become accustomed to others weaker than him attempting to kill him or underestimating him. He didn't lose control, but instead felt a rage that would help him to thrive in battle, although it was pointless at that time because he was far too weak in comparison to the angel.
While Leigh was distracted, the angel took advantage of the situation by kicking Leigh in the head from the air before swinging his sword to separate Kalen's head from his body.
Leigh was leaning against a wall, staring at the destroyed wall in front of him, which he had accidently shattered with his body when he was propelled back by the angel's kick.
The headache returned, and a flood of memories and information surfaced at that point.
