Chapter 7 - Where did they go?

Waking up Melvin felt extremely well rested, compared to yesterday when he woke up in a cave. 'Now then time to get some answers,' He thought, hoping to finally learn about why vampires weren't around. Just as he went to leave the room he felt a pain shoot through his stomach. *Growl*

'What, how can I be hungry right now?' he thought. "You sound like your hungry." Maria said, leaning on the now open door. "How long have you been standing there?" Melvin asked, grabbing his stomach to try to ease his pain.

"Oh just long enough to know that you need to feed." she replied. "Feed?! What do you mean by feed?!" Melvin asked, a look of panic began to spread on his face. "Don't worry I don't mean that you have to kill people, if that's what your asking, I just mean you need blood." Maria said, reminding Melvin that the events that have transpired over the last few days weren't a dream.

"So what did you have in mind?" He asked, as his stomach started to rumble again. "I think it would be best for us to get you blood from a human." she said, smiling away like she was proud of what she said. "Where exactly are we gonna find a human around here?" Melvin asked, hoping that Maria didn't have an answer and that they had blood packs in a cooler somewhere.

"I heard my father and Rando talking about a small group of humans who are looking for something in the woods a little while away from here. But in the mean time drink this." she said, handing him a cup filled with red liquid. "If you have this then why do I need to drink human blood?" He asked, confusion now had a tight grip on Melvin.

"Because that's not human blood it can't make the hunger go away it can only stave it off for a few hours at most, now drink it so we can make you feel better." She snapped. Doing as he was told Melvin drank the liquid. "Now that that's over let's get going" Maria said smiling.

When leaving the elder's mansion they had passed by a few guards that had given them some questioning looks, but they didn't say anything knowing the elder's daughter was extremely free spirited and liked to wander. However the looks were directed at Melvin, that is due to the fact that they hadn't seen him around the settlement before.

They had just made it to the edge of the settlement and a guard had finally stopped them. "Pardon me Lady Maria, but may I ask where you intend to take the outsider?" the guard asked, kneeling down as a sign of respect to his superior.

"I just plan to help the settlements newcomer get comfortable with the surrounding area." She said, lying through her teeth and smiling innocently.

"Oh, my apologies I didn't mean to interrupt I'll be leaving now." the guard said, standing up and leaving before he humiliated himself further in front of the other guards on duty.

With no more interruptions they had finally made it into the woods. As they walked to the place that, supposedly, had been a camp for a small group of humans Maria thought it was the right time to get an answer to her own question. "Alright we're finally out of there, now I actually wanted to ask you a personal question. If you don't mind that is." Maria said, her face blushing profusely.

Melvin didn't notice, but after his awakening he had gotten more muscular and his face was more handsome than before. "Sure, what did you want to ask me?" He asked, completely oblivious to the fact that she was blushing.

"Well, I wanted to ask if you have a girlfriend or a special someone?" She asked, looking at Melvin with stars twinkling in her eyes.

"I don't have a girlfriend but I do have someone who is special to me." Melvin said, his mind wandering back to a certain red haired girl.

'Well this is good, I still have a chance with him.' Maria thought, grinning at the answer she had recieved. The rest of the way there was now just silence and a few awkward glances every now and then from Maria. "So how much longer till we get there exactly?" Melvin asked, looking around. Ever since yesterday he noticed that he could see just as well in the dark as he could in the light.

"It shouldn't be to much longer. It's just up ahead I think." She replied. Just as she said those words a firebolt had flown right between the two. "Who's there? Show yourself." Melvin shouted, looking in the direction the firebolt had came from.

"Wait, Melvin?" voices could be heard saying. A few seconds later three figures could be seen walking out from behind the trees. "Melvin is it really you?" One of them asked, it was Lydia. The other two were Kang and Scarlett who wanted to try to find Melvin to thank him for saving there lives. Little did they each know of the trouble that was about to begin.

Back at the settlement elder Tim was walking around the mansion looking for Melvin and Maria. 'Where did they go?' he thought. Then he remembered the noise he heard earlier when he and Rando where having their "private" discussion.

"No she couldn't have." he said to him self. Finding the closes guard he asked him if he had seen his daughter. "The young lady left with the boy he looked rather pale if you ask me though." The guard explained. "So they did go after the humans. This should be interesting." Tim said, talking to himself while heading to his room for rest.
