The wings of the landing bees sounded across the nursery like small helicopters. But they never touched the ground and just hovered over the black concrete floor
Their stingers looked different from anything Lux had seen throughout the hive. Instead of being a thin sharp spike, they were tubular like a gun muzzle. They definitely didn't look like a stinger that you stabbed with which puzzled Lux.
They also had a distinct shape of wings that allowed them to move around at very rapid speeds.
They zipped around in the air like small little electric bolts all the while the one on the ground slashed at Lux like an expert swordsman.
Then a deep sound rang across the whole nursery.
Bang!
A golden bullet blasted the ground beside Lux, their stingers weren't used to stab but to shoot. This frightened Lux, they were too much for him. But then a grey bullet shot back at the flying bee slingers.
Aria shot back a barrage of rocks at the bees.
If it weren't for the fact Lux had Aria with him, he surely thought they would kill him tenfold.
Aria was a huge help in fighting, launching speeding rocks like bullets at the flying bees helped Lux concentrate on the thin stinger bee.
Clang!
The bee jumped around the battleground like a grasshopper, using its knowledge of swordplay to keep up with Lux and his two daggers. Lux on the other hand struggled to gain an upper hand, the both of them couldn't beat each other as their power levels were par on par.
Lux couldn't use Water Slice to damage the bee either because its stinger could repel the attack and that's just when he actually was lucky enough to hit it as the bee was very fast.
In the midst of gunshots and clanging, something aroused the attention of everyone on the battlefield. A small claw busted into the ceiling, not much bigger than a car. Then huge chunks of comb came falling down and in the middle a shadow of a hungry beast.
Boom!
A shriek bled down the halls of the nursery as a sliver-furred skunk arose from the ruins, it started snacking on the larva eggs. The elite bees didn't take too kindly to their future generation being eaten and swarmed the intruding skunk.
Golden yellow bullets were shot everywhere, Lux emerged from the rubble with Aria at hand. Hiding behind a fallen part of the comb, he watched everything unfold. The silver skunk had really rough fur making the thin stinger of the bee useless but the flying bees on the other hand did some damage with their golden projectiles.
Red blisters covered the skunk, it screamed in pain and swiped its hand in the air to kill the flying bees. One managed to dodge the attack but the other was slapped across the nursery. Its wings bled golden blood as they were snapped in half.
The other flying bee buzzed around the skunk shooting even faster than before. More blisters were made, bleeding green. Lux clenched his fist and thought maybe he could get an easy kill off of the skunk.
He told Aria to stay down and crept out of the comb. He ran towards the battle and slid into a small crevice. Even though the bee was hurting the skunk, it wasn't doing any fatal damage. The skunk hissed at the flying bee and let out black smoke from its rear.
Lux wasn't close enough to be in the proximity of the smoke so he was fine, but the flying bee wasn't. It flew around as if it were drunk, it shot in places that were nowhere near its target. The skunk reached out its hand to swap the pestering bee.
"There's my chance!" Lux jumped out from his hole and summoned the squid dagger.
Katcha!
The arm of the skunk flung off in the air like a poodle noodle and splat on the ground. It took a minute for the skunk to realize what happened and let out a loud shriek. It ran off in a trail of green blood, wimping uglily.
"Aria!" Lux shouted while following the retreating skunk.
Aria followed from behind as Lux ran. He summoned his buffalo and let Aria on from the back. At full speed, they followed the skunk in a series of hallways and tunnels. Behind them was a group of more bee slingers shooting golden bolts at the buffalo and skunk. The buffalo was fast enough to dodge the projectiles.
The golden bullets sundered the ground, creating small crevices along the black concrete floor. Lux shuddered, if one of the bullets hit him it would probably cripple him.
Lux looked back at Aria, seeing that she didn't throw any rocks back made him confused. She looked at Lux with a shrug, she didn't have any more rocks. Lux thought of what she could use, then his face lit up. He then pulled out huge bags of small round marbles.
"Here, use these" Lux handed her a handful.
She proceeded to go back to shooting the bees.
They looped back around into the honey cell chasm. The skunk was not far in front, the buffalo was catching up. Lux was surprised at how fast the skunk could go while being injured. It was definitely a creature higher level than him which made him excited.
Flying bees in hot pursuit of them started to lose their speed and then just completely stopped chasing them. Lux was surprised by this but kept chasing the skunk.
[Water Slice is ready to use]
The notification popped in front of Lux's eyes, he smirked. They were running right next to the skunk by now as Lux was waiting for it to cool down.
He leaped off the buffalo and let Aria control it. While in mid-air, he casted Water Slice right on top of the skunk's head.
Wam!
The head of the skunk spiraled out its neck and splat onto the wall like a tomato. Lux instantly gained a new level and landed on the ground, it seemed he didn't need to eat the skunk for the experience.
"Whew, I wonder why those bees left?" Lux asked himself.
Lux shrugged it off. He was pretty satisfied with the loot he had gotten but still had one more place to go before leaving the hive.
He wanted to kill the queen, he theorized that the queen was any normal monster and that maybe it would be the boss-level monster. He prayed that was the case he would really be lost on how to complete step 4.
He traversed through some tunnels and back into the nursery, the worker bees already started repairing the ceiling and a group of bee slingers was searching for something which Lux guessed was either him or the dead skunk.
He ran around the blind spots of the hive with Aria so that they wouldn't find him and cause unnecessary trouble. After a while of walking and hiding, Lux finally made it to the last room.
The queen's domain.
