Chapter 21 - Encounter

Lux had acted the scene in his mind hundreds of times before yet he never expected to use that information so early, he was caught out of surprise.

"F*CK!" He grabbed Aria with his arms and dove down the hill.

Lux's mind raced, how powerful was this player? How old were they? If they're from the last-gen then they must be faster and stronger than him!.

"Hey wait!" The guy shouted.

Lux didn't hesitate for a second and summoned his flintlock.

"F**CK Off!" A beam of a white shot from his gun, exploding the other player in smoke. Lux was thrown off balance as he clutched on Aria. He fell to the ground.

Gathering himself up from the ground Lux resummoned his buffalo and jumped on with Aria on his back. He rode the buffalo out of the scene before the other could even react, he rode at max speed and before he knew it, he was gone. He rode off for hours before making sure he wasn't being chased. Aria was quite confused but understood that the person they were running away from was dangerous.

"Dammit! It wasn't supposed to happen this fast! If I hadn't also caught that guy by surprise I would have been squashed like a bug under a leather boot. What if he has a more powerful version of Swipe that can track down entities from far away? This is all too risky!" Lux bit his nails in nervousness.

He sighed, for now, he just had to guess the person wasn't chasing him anymore, now. He set up camp in a cave, he slouched against a rock. He reloaded his gun, slowly inserting it in the metal ball inside the barrel. He stared at the campfire, he played around with his long hair, he started to realize how much he had changed from only being there for like 2 months.

He had tons of minor bruises over his body and his once smooth skin was now rough and worn-out

He hunted down a big bird and cut it up for dinner. He was tired of eating fish and wolf meat for food. He turned the meat above the fire, pondering about his next move. Fighting was out of the question so what other possible thing could he do. He knew nothing but that his opponent was stronger than him. But even that didn't help. How strong were they? Was it possible to outrun them? Or even kill them?

But there's nothing to gain from killing that person at all, avoiding them for the time being was the only option that made sense. Lux ruffled his hair in frustration. After some time of thought, Lux fell asleep with one question on his mind.

"What should I do?!".

Lux woke up the next day, on a warm bed. He got up from his bed and looked out his window. He was back home! He was so excited, after all that suffering, after all that fighting he was now out! He ran out his door to smell the fresh air but for some reason, he felt off. He felt tons of nervousness flowing out of his mind. Something is wrong.

He jumped from his dream and looked around. He heard explosions in the distance. He quickly gathered his things and woke up Aria.

"We need to get out of here!" He shouted as he grabbed her and left the cave.

Lux ran up the jungle forest hills. He looked behind him and saw fire fuming from a tree. Tons of gunshots and clanging were heard. He stopped for a second and looked back at the scene. There was a band of players fighting against another player. He actually recognized the player getting ganged up on. It was the same person he saw before. Lux figured since they were fighting he could watch them and get a basic understanding of how strong players were right now.

He crept behind a group of bushes and peered through one of the gaps between the leaves. The men fighting the other man were using some strange tech weapons. Purple plasma shots shot through one of their guns. On the other hand, the other player had a shining blue blade that danced around the blasts, repelling each one of their shots out of the way.

His swordsmanship was like nothing Lux had ever seen, he must be a very powerful person. Lux stayed a bit longer to see who would win, he believed that the player had something behind their sleeve. He wanted to gather as much intel on that person before living to have a good perspective on how powerful players are.

The player switched hands getting ready to summon something from their inventory. But instead, they grabbed something behind them and chucked it at the others. Lux found it strange to store something in his pocket instead of using his immense inventory. Lux dismissed the strange move and continued watching.

The thing the player chucked was a green rock, it seemed to scare the shit out of the other players as they ran off from the green orb. A huge explosion blasted the area as green gas fumed the jungle.

"Shit, time to get out of here" Lux turned around and ran off on his black buffalo.

"Wait!" Lux heard a familiar voice shout. It was the player.

Lux drove the buffalo faster than before. But the other player started running at really fast speeds. Lux clenched his fist, regretting not leaving sooner. Why was this person following him so persistently??

Lux pulled out his flintlock and pointed at the player, it had worked last time so might as well. Lux shot the bullet at a player following him. The player unsheathed their sword and tried to deflect the bullet. The moment the ball made an impact with the blade, it shattered into pieces, sadly the bullet was deflected explosively out of the player's way but by then Lux had gained a large distance from him.

Rai panted as he saw the strange man ride away in the distance. It was a theory at first but now he knew that that person was a chosen one. A gun with the power to shatter his Exzavier was impossible to make in the current modern tech. He grew desperate, he needed help, he had been trying to find one of them for so long. He shouted with his full voice.

"Who are you!".

Lux heard the loud remark and only confusion was made out of it. Who was he? He almost laughed. What a dumb question, the only thing he could be is a player. He didn't understand what the question was trying to ask. After a while of traveling, the question made Lux rethink everything, and the more he thought about the encounter the more he started to doubt everything he had previously thought about God's Mercy.

"My gun was stronger than his blade, '' Lux said out loud.

How was that possible, what were the chances that he would meet a beginner like himself from the new generation? The percentage was near to none yet Lux couldn't help but think that was the only way for that player's question to make sense.

"Maybe he didn't read the guide correctly".
