Finn just sprung it out of nowhere.
A first step into knowing the true story of a true-to-life horror story will be revealed to me.
I might be the luckiest in the world if I'm the first normal human who'll find out all about it.
But am I ready for it?
Can I trust these people?
"First let me start by saying that we didn't come from this world, but in a parallel world at the other side of the gate'."
The other side of the gate. I already hear that from Luna and Finn earlier. So on the other side of it, is a parallel world.
"Luna and I are fairies. While Hera and Siege are humans residing the world."
He pointed to Ms. Hera and Siege. Ms. Hera who kept herself muted lifted her head and looked at me.
"Yes, there are other humans living in that world, and also many creatures like fairies. Fairies are the ones we proclaimed as superior beings. Same as Dragons and Purgatorians. And we humans are at the bottom of the hierarchy of raises."
I can understand what's a dragon is but what about Purgatorians? This is the first time for me to hear this. If they are at the top of the races then that means they are overpowered just like this two.
"You said that humans are at the very bottom of the hierarchy, why is that?"
"Well unlike any other beings we don't have anything special with our body. Though Siege and I are the exceptions because we possess the Warriors Brilliance in our blood. Normal humans need to train very hard to improve their physical strength or study as much as they can about Mana and the things that can be used to make use of its power called anting-anting and forged them into an item called agimat. I don't know the full dept of this though because I didn't practice them.
Anting-anting and agimat? In our belief, these are charms that some people use to improve their luck or to make the evil spirits go away. The difference between the two, anting-anting is found in nature while agimat is forged.
"How can these things lead to the destruction of our world?"
They came from a different world, so how come that happened to ours?
Luna stood up when she finished eating she wonders in the sala and kept looking at the television.
Meanwhile, Finn took a notebook and flipped the first page.
"It all started with a dream to unite our shattered continent. To protect the continent's treasure, which is the dungeons that were built on the land, from invaders who were trying to steal this treasure for themselves. We fairies dreamed to unite it after we find a new light as children of a Fairy and Purgatorian had been born.
Purgatorians are creatures that par from us Fairies. They can take the same form as humans. But once they show their true forms they will have full white eyes that oozes white mist. And a body that produces a limitless black mist, called Purgatorial Aura.
We wanted them to be the proof that any race can come together. Even the two races who abhor each other by nature.
At first, when the first child had been born, all of the races in that continent was so hesitant. But after all the effort we Fairies put into seizing the conflict between Humans and Purgatorians. To show them that we're serious about uniting the continent. Somehow we managed to get the trust of humans and the other beings.
But it wasn't long after a problem arose. A new child between a Fairy and a Purgatorian had been born. Some humans think that we're planning to use these children to rule over them. Because a child between the two of the most powerful beings in our world will definitely possess strong powers. Same for the Purgatorians, because they thought that we will use the children to finally destroy them
The second problem was, humans get cocky because they're protected by us Fairies and hunt down Purgatorians to slay them. That lit up another war not just between humans and Purgatorians. Also a civil war among humans. Some humans wanted a truce but some wanted to continue the war.
But because of the sacrifices we've made we manage to prevent the situation from getting any worse. We realized that it's impossible for us to unite the continent if we're just the ones who are making all the efforts of doing so.
By this reality, the youngest child of the Fairy and Purgatorian falls into the dark side of the world. That child allied himself with the Purgatorian King and even tricked the princess to devour her and get back the power to give life.
Purgatorians have the ability to take others' lives and by the use of this power, He can take the life of others and give it to a new vessel. Whether it's a living or nonliving vessel.
He formed the eternal purgatorial aura that he produces into something human-like appearance and he gave life into it by using this power of his.
That's how the most formidable weapon, Demons had been formed.
They devour the souls of others and use it to form another one of their kind. Because their body was made of mist, physical attacks don't have any effect on them. Not to mention their ability to regenerate. That's why I said that they're the most formidable weapon.
You might think that this is pure madness. But he thinks that this is the right way in order to unite the continent. He believes that this way humans will be more useful.
Many opposes his grand ideals but some sympathize with it and allied with him. We allied with humans and other beings to try and stop his evilness. But he's a formidable enemy himself.
How do I put this? It's like he already predicted every move we made. And whenever he plans on something we can't find a single flaw in it. If we did he can always cover it up and get back on us in a most unpredictable way. He also has the charisma to make others put so much trust in him.
A perfect leader was the best way to describe him.
He also gets the acknowledgment of the Undead King that gave him an overwhelming army of undead and dullahans to expand his forces.
Humanity was forced to live in dungeons that those mist demons can't enter. But inside the dungeons was no better as well. Eating dungeon monsters as foods and even substituting their blood for water.
Due to the continent's dystopian situation. The other continents feared our continent, making their invasion stop.
Later on, that son of a Fairy and Purgatorian was known as the Dark Ruler of the apocalypse.
The end of volume 1. A happy ending for him.
So what do you think, a good story right?"
"Yeah, a good story, full of criticism for our race. Now would you mind telling me why are you reading that story from that notebook! Was it just a made-up story? !"
I pointed out the notebook he was reading filled with doodles. But to be honest his handwriting was good.
"No. This is a history book!"
Now I'm starting to doubt if the Dark Ruler was a genius or his enemies were all just an idiots.
"Say how come those creatures can't enter the dungeons?"
"Not just those creatures. Fairies, Purgatorians, monsters outside the dungeons, and any creatures other than humans. Can't possibly enter the dungeons unless it was identified as cleared or the source of power that block us will be destroyed."
When I heard the story earlier, it's kinda hard to believe that there are still other beings siding with humans after all they've done in splitting the continent.
But now I see. They need humans to clear the dungeons for them. If there are no humans to clear it, the treasure inside will be impossible to acquire.
I know my comment was rude but I'm not one to think that they'll just do that because of goodwill.
"So how come those things came to our world?"
"That's-"
"That's my turn to tell you the story... The volume 2!"
Oh my god, you chose the wrong people to play the role of a hero.
Ms. Hera pushes Finn aside and gets the notebook with a drawing of a tower and a woman with a sword. Standing courageously while facing the tower.
I think the woman is supposed to be her.
"The Humans in our continent spent every day of our lives in fear that someday we will all be wiped out by these creatures. Some of us give in to depression and commit suicide.
'It's better to die fighting than to be rotten in this dungeon.' A girl once said that. She believes that there's still a way for humanity to fight back against these creatures.
There are some fools who sympathize with her and believe the same way as she did.
Together with those fools, they challenge the boss of the dungeon they're taking shelter in. No one ever defeated a boss before so it seems like an impossible dream. Even though they're aware of the difficulty of challenging a boss but they still move forward to their dream. In order for their family or loved ones, not to be a victim of this nightmare.
Eventually, they succeeded, or should I say the girl succeeded. She obtained a magic weapon and cleared the dungeon. They achieved their objective in return for all the lives of those fools who followed her lead.
The girl turned her back to the corpse of those fools and shoulder the responsibility that their death must not be in vain.
Upon returning to the place where the other refugee is, instead of happiness, horror-filled her eyes. After
Clearing the dungeon, the mist demons entered it, devouring the remaining refugees including her little brother.
The girl fell on her knees, realized the tragedy of what she have done.
Due to the anger for herself, the girl charges into the mist demons. Avenging the fallen was the one she hoped.
Her suicidal charge ended up defeating all of the mist demons inside the dungeon. But the guilt she was feeling didn't vanish.
The girl was about to break her mind while holding her little brother's cold body in her arms. But a new light lit up as she felt that the cold body of her brother, become warmer and warmer. And her little brother eventually woke up. Not just him but some of the dead bodies that had been devoured by the mist demons starting to have a life again.
The girl can't hold back the tears in her eyes. Even though not all of the bodies came back to life, she's glad to know that their death wasn't in vain. This event give them the new hope that there's still a chance for humanity to recover.
