Chapter 29 - Chapter 18: It has Began

We continued walking until we got out of the forest and reach a vast grassland. At the exact minute that we arrive, Ms. Hera and Siege who took a different route reach the grassland as well. We decided to separate our ways to cover more grounds.

They confirmed that there's no one in the area.

We decided to take a short break to discuss our plans regarding proceeding in the area near the gate.

Ms. Hera looks at his phone to check the time. It's nearly seven, so we travel almost three hours from Tacloban to here.

A minute later we decided to continue walking through the forest to avoid climbing up the mountain.

Ms. Hera went ahead of us to alert us in case any problem occur.

The three of us walk behind her.

"I'm so glad, now that another Fairy was added to our group. I feel like we can finally take down any enemy now." Siege said.

Don't count me into your group.

"Yeah, now that you mention it, it's just me and Hera are the only members of the group."

"Hey, Finn! What do you mean by that?!" Siege asks.

He means that you are so weak he can't even count you as one of them.

"I mean, until recently your just a little shrimp that can't even hold a dagger properly. But now you can even carry that heavy metal spear and that platinum shield."

"You're right, but don't call me a little shrimp. I'm a lot taller now than I was before."

I forgot, unlike Finn and Ms. Hera. Siege came to this world when he was just little.

"Yeah, I bet it won't be too long until we can finally go back to our world."

"I barely even have a memory of our world. It should be nice if we can go back to our world soon."

Every child at that time can barely even see the sky. Due to being forced to live inside dungeons the only thing they can see was the walls and ceilings of the dungeons.

They may not be directly at fault but it's the common sense of that world. No, maybe not just in our world, in this world as well.

If your family, we're involved in a matter concerning others, you'll be dragged into it too. If your friend fight with others you will be dragged into it too.

If your race kills another race. Then the victim's race will abhor your race to its last brethren.

In this case, if humans didn't get their heads big and thought that they can actually fight a superior being like us. Those horrors wouldn't have happened.

I don't want to talk to them or to get along with them but I need to know what's their reason for staying here.

"What do you feel towards Anzai?" I asked.

Both of them turn back to look at me.

"Huh? That came out of nowhere. Why do you ask?" Finn was the one who ask.

"It doesn't concern you, Finn. Based on what mother said, there are no survivors after the royal capital had been attacked by the Dark Ruler. Even for the family of warriors, except for you and Ms. Hera. I'm sure you know about Anzai that's why I wanted to ask you what do you feel about him."

"Hey, Luna! Stop that nonsense."

"Nonsense? You told me to get along with them. How could I do that if I didn't even know what kind of person they were? How can I fight alongside them if I didn't know what are they fighting for." I said that out.

I don't know why. Is this because of hatred towards humans that I can't really trust them? Or I just want to find someone that can sympathize with me.

"I hated him actually. After all, if it wasn't for him, I would have gotten myself a girlfriend."

"I'm not talking about that—"

"But even I hated him, it's not like I can do anything about it, right?"

So he's gonna use that, as an excuse.

Even though he's got a point it's still annoying.

"But, Luna please get to know him first before you do something," Siege said.

The reason why I sneak here is because I found out that Finn was doing something foolish. I should expect that they'll see right through that.

By what Siege said, it's probably not just Finn but also Ms. Hera and him.

A moment later Ms. Hera hurriedly came back to us. And she's carrying a report that surprises us.

"Prince Finn! Terrible news. Undeads was swarming the forest up ahead."

"What?!

Although all of us were surprised by this news. I am the one who was surprised the most.

Upon arriving into this world. This is the path I took but I haven't crossed paths even with just a single walking skeleton.

Led by Ms. Hera we hurried to a higher place to estimate the number of undead in the forest.

Upon reaching a gorge in the mountain were all surprised after seeing that the entire forest leading to the gate was full of patrolling undead and some of them are dullahans.

"Its just been more than a week since I came to this world. How are they able to bring all of them here in such a short time."

"Its possible that they're just hiding here the whole time."

"How was that possible?" I ask again.

I just can't believe it, I know my power as a fairy wasn't that strong. But at least I can sense the presence of an undead.

"It might have been a Kapre. Earlier, I smell a strong fragrance of tobacco in that forest. They probably use illusion to conceal all of this undead here."

"Seriously! A forest this big?!"

Ms. Hera said then Siege follow up a question in his surprise.

I still can't believe it. But it is the best reason why I can't sense them.

Kapres are a big-brown hairy creatures. Aside from their strength and masculinity they use the smoke produced by their tobaccos to make an illusion or even give you a nightmare.

"They got us. Prince Finn, how long do you think they've been concealing this undead here?"

"Seven years, before the disappearance of the Dark Ruler."

Finn, who was quiet until now, surprises us.

"Don't you think it's strange? After arriving here the only minions that he sent off were the dragons, mist demons, and dullahans. And during our mission the numbers of dullahans we fought decreased."

I don't know what they're talking about since I'm not one of those who were sent here.

But doesn't that mean that the enemies predicted what's bound to happen in the future?

"But replenishing mana in this world was slow. If they use an illusion this big, they will die in the process."

"The mana here was thicker compared to the city. The evidence was some trees started to whether."

Finn answered Ms. Hera's doubt.

Finn's right the mana in this place was thicker.

But now the problem was much bigger.

Not just do they have an advantage in the forest leading to the gate but also in the place where they can replenish mana faster.

We need to do something before they will have full control in this area.

I completely transformed into my original form, revealing not just my shining eyes and hair but my wings as well.

"So we're gonna fight! At last! I might enjoy patrolling for once!" Siege said as he spin his spear around.

"Yeah, just don't make your big sister worry too much okay."

Ms. Hera teases him.

"Come on! Don't say that! I'm trying to be cool here!" He said.

Ms. Hera snickers.

"If your that enthusiastic then let's do this. But don't overuse yourselves there's the possibility that the enemies were just hiding nearby." Finn said.

Finn started casting the same spell as I did.

His black hair changed into an emerald-green one. And his eyes shine as well. Just like how I remember him back then.

Finn is powerful enough to change even his hair color just like a normal person.

We were about to go down the gorge. But we hear footsteps coming behind the trees in our back.

"Hoy! Hoy! Don't tell me—"

Siege was the one who reacted first.

A group of armored undead was charging towards us.

"They even got here in this mountain!" Siege said.

I didn't hesitate and charged into the enemy that appeared behind my back.

"Wait, Luna!"

Finn whose wearing a worried look on his face tried to stop me. But I already made up my mind.

I horizontally spread my fairy dust in front of them then make it explode. The explosion eliminates most of them but it doesn't seem like it will be over soon. I attacked them with another fairy dust the explosion breaks not just the skull of the undead but also the trees near them.

The trees that fall, give us more view of the dark forest behind them.

All of us were surprised of what we saw. It's not just troops of undead but the entire forest behind them is full of armored undeads.

And by how our luck goes, it's probably the entire mountain is full of calcium soldiers.

Ms. Hera and Siege came to help me but Finn stays behind us. Looks like Finn was trying to figure out something.

Ms. Hera bit her index finger and made that finger run through the steel surface of the sword.

"Link."

Ms. Hera cast the 'link' spell. Based on my knowledge about human magic. The 'link' spell allows someone to connect themselves in the agimat without them being a mage. This weapon she's using wasn't an agimat but a dungeon treasure, it's not clear yet whether the 'link' spell worked the same way as it is used in magic items or it is an offering to the person who created this weapon. This doesn't work the same with anting-anting though

I don't know what's the magic on Ms. Hera's sword but after casting the 'link' spell. It emits a thick smoke that made the surrounding muggy.

Siege get his shield and spear from his back and use the Guerrero Family's Mystical Arts. Mystical Arts don't need any incantation and the Guerrero Family's Warriors Brilliance is just like.

These mystical arts, inspire someone or something. If it's used in weapons the weapon will glow brilliantly and make it a much stronger weapon. Just like what Siege was doing right now.

It can also be used on other humans to boost their strength and courage. That's why it's a fitting mystical art for warriors.

"Let's get out of this mountain and bring the fighting into the grassland. It's better to fight them in the open area than here."

"Right!" Both Siege and I respond in agreement.

"Luna stay with them and help them get out of here. While you're doing that I'm gonna try to fly and look in the gate."

Finn said then he took off to the direction where the gate can be found.

.....

What we find out right now was bad news for us. But we can use it to prepare for the near future.

The one that I'm worried about right now was the fact that they were able to hide those overwhelming number of undead.

I fly around to see if they were only able to conceal the undead or those monsters as well.

So far right now the only ones I see were undead in the forest leading to the gate.

We should have investigated this place more than investigating the corpse that has been found recently.

As I fly deep in the forest I only see undead, not those creatures. When I reach the gate it's the same as it was before. Except that right now it's been camping out by a lot of undead.

I fly around the forest to see if they hide them somewhere in the forest but it's a negative.

I decided to go back to them. And it's my surprise after seeing the view from above.

Not just the forest leading to the gate but also the entire forest. Including the route that we took earlier.

That's impossible we just took that route earlier and we haven't found a single undead. How come—

When we took the route earlier to climb the mountain there were no undead in our path. But all of the sudden an overwhelming army of undead appeared in that route. This means we're under their illusion the whole time.

"They're here."
