Jake continued to drag Violet out of the scene and he brought her inside the room which was used to be a study lounge for students.
But now, it had become turned into an examination room for twenty more scholars like her and Jake.
Their watcher was Director Lopez himself.
"I'm sorry for that, Student Jane. Madam Chairman have arranged this set-up for you and the rest to not be bothered by the regular students while taking the exam." He explained.
"I see. I'm very sorry for the trouble then." Violet said as she knew that what happened earlier was actually connected to this.
"Don't be. Now if you don't mind. Do take a seat as we will start the exam in five minutes." He said.
Violet sat on the vacant seat next to Jake's. Jake had already reserved that seat for her.
The bell rang exactly after five minutes and Director Lopez started giving them the rules to be followed when taking the exam before actually distributing the questionnaires to each one of them.
Each subject was given an hour and forty-five minutes to answer a hundred point worth of test booklet.
The students were only allowed to submit fifteen minutes before the test ended.
To avoid cheating, the students were reshuffled from all year levels and had to take the same subject at the same time. This way, no leaked of answers and cheating with a seatmate would happen.
All bags were placed in the platform and all phones were surrendered to the examiner and was placed inside a safe box. But in their case, all of their phones were placed on the black cardboard box.
The students were not allowed to go out either.
They had to do their business before the exam started.
When it was indeed necessary to use the toilet, the member of the disciplinary committee would follow the student afterwards to see if there were no cheat notes hidden or left behind.
It was a three-day exam and most of Jane's schedule were in the morning except on Friday where she had two subjects in the afternoon.
Violet didn't bring any bag with her. She only brought the things she needed for the exam.
The exam started and the students on the other room were having a hard time. Even her fellow scholars were frowning while answering the test questions.
The questions were so hard this time. Much harder than their mid-term exam. Well, this was not called a final exam for nothing.
Should she not read any reference materials, read the news papers and not have previous Jane's photographic memory, she would never be able to put even a single word in her answer sheet.
It was such a pity should she fail this final examination. Of course, she had to do well.
The three day exam passed by in a blur and Violet was satisfied with her performance in the exam. She was confident that she got most of it. She hoped that the old Jane would be happy with her performance too. She hoped that she had not let her down.
She had studied on the topics really well. The only thing that was left was to wait for the releasing of the results next week.
She had to admit that answering an exam was very tiring for a student. The theory parts would make a student to turn nuts in an instant.
After she handed her booklet, Violet immediately wanted to go back to her dorm so she could rest.
Jake asked her if they could hang out somewhere else after school just to relax.
She agreed to his request since he had helped her a lot during the three day exam.
Stephanie and the gang were not able to disturb her since he was always on her side.
Because he chose to be with Violet, a lot of students were starting to throw skeptical gazes towards him.
But they could not dare bully him because they didn't know his true background.
He was wearing clothes that were not found on display inside the malls of the country.
They just didn't have brand tags on them but they looked durable.
Good thing the students here were not really an idiot to mess with him.
"Where are you going to bring me?" Violet asked him while they were walking towards the main exit of the campus.
Over the past three days Jake had become his first best friend ever since she transmigrated in this world.
He felt like a little brother for her. He was really caring and would try his best to not let her be alone.
"A new milk tea store have opened just recently. I just want to try if they taste good."
"Milk tea?" Violet raised her brows as she asked.
She had heard about it from Jane's memory but Jane hadn't tasted it.
"Yes. Actually, call me weird but I haven't tried one ever since it have become a hit among the students here. I have been so busy with my projects that I got lost of what is happening on the world around me." He honestly said while fixing his eye glasses on place.
"Well I guess, I'm not the only odd one here, huh. And I haven't had a cup of that, too. I...was so into saving up money from my part-time jobs to send most of it to my Mama in the province." She opened up.
"Must have been hard for you." He meaningfully told her.
Was it hard for Jane back then? Violet gave that question a thought and recalled what Jane had felt through out the years that she had juggled both her studies and work.
"Hmmm. At first yes. But I am committed to help Mama in paying my Papa's debts and in raising my younger siblings that it have become a habit and gotten used to. It's like my diversion from all the lessons my brain had absorbed inside the class. It's tiring yes but at the same time, I treated it as my training. I can say I am a master of my time. I can handle my schedule pretty well." She proudly told Jake.
She was proud of Jane for making it. For being optimistic and a strong fighter despite the hardship that she had to face in the past.
"Good thing the school allowed me to work outside given that I'm a full-time scholar. Having multiple part-time jobs have placed my scholarship at risk, too." Violet added.
"Madam Chairman believes in your capabilities Jane. She will not allow you to go on if you couldn't prove that you can." Jake smiled with pride.
"I may be younger than you but I know how to read people. It's so sad that we're not on the same year." He sadly said.
"And why's that?" She asked him.
"Must be good to become your classmate." He mumbled but still Violet had heard him.
"Seriously?" Violet chuckled.
They didn't belong in the same department. So there's no way that they would become classmates.
"You're cute." Violet mumbled and Jake heard it causing the young man to blush.
Violet had the urge to tease him but she stopped herself as she didn't want other students to misinterpret them.
It's easy to ruin and put malice on their actions even if what they had was purely platonic relationship between a man and a woman.
They came to a stop when they reached the bus stop.
It was a one way ride going to the store's location.
"I'm sorry. We can't use our car to go there. Dad is strict about -"
"I understand, you don't have to explain." Violet said, cutting him off from what he was trying to tell her.
"Thank you."
They boarded the bus and they reached the store location within fifteen minutes.
It was near one of the public parks in the Capital.
They hopped out of the bus and walked towards the store.
They saw people queuing to enter the store but Jake and Violet went on and used the back door.
"We're not allowed to be here, are we?" She asked him.
"We are!" He said.
"And why's that?" She curiously asked him.
"Because I am the owner of this milk tea store." He simply said.
"Seriously?!" Violet asked in surprise.
"Hmmm.Yes." He replied while scratching the back of his head awkwardly.
"And you're telling me that you haven't tasted your own product?"
"That's true. I never lie." He said with sincerity.
"I just happened to have the money and so I franchised. We're still on soft-opening and had not done the rituals yet." He humbly said.
"You mean the grand opening."
"Yes." He said as he opened the door and let Violet to enter before him.
"Thanks."
"Welcome."
"Wow. Perks of having a rich parent, huh?"
"Not really. Ahm, I know you're uncomfortable with a lot of people so we can have our milk tea at the roof deck." He offered as he lead her upstairs.
"Wait, aren't we going to order at the counter?" Violet asked him.
"Ben will bring us the flavor that's best for first timers like us." He explained.
"Who's Ben?"
"The Store Manager. He runs the store for me."
As they reached the roof deck, Violet sat down on the vacant chair and Jake took the opposite one.
Ben did come upstairs and he brought two regular sized cup of original flavored milk tea.
They both sipped the beverage as they looked at the young night sky.
"I guess it's a bad idea to have it before dinner, yeah?" He said.
"I kind of agree with you." She said.
"It tastes okay. I guess."
"Hmm. Yeah."
They both silently finished their cup before they decided to leave the place.
Jake wanted to invite her for dinner but she politely declined him stating that she was having a head ache.
And she might have to order a take out.
This worried Jake and wanted to call Mrs. Shaw about it but Violet said she would be fine after a full night of sleep.
"Are you sure? I'll order a take out on the nearby restaurant. It's not good to sleep with an empty stomach. And are you sure that you don't have to drink pain medicine?" Jake rambled.
"Hold up! Chill. I'm fine. I am just tired. The exam drained my energy. Really." She reasoned.
"Thanks for the food but I don't think I can stomach food tonight." She added.
"Okay. Call me if you needed me."
"I can't. I don't have a phone." She told him.
"Oh...then...goodbye?"
Seeing that she was determined to leave, he had to let her go, reluctantly.
But he asked some of his men to follow her just in case.
He also ordered a food delivery to be delivered back to her dorm room so she could still eat food if ever she became hungry.
Violet on the other hand had just boarded the bus and got off on the bus stop near the dorm. She was already preparing for her day to end early.
Violet didn't expect that an unexpected thing would prevent her from being reunited with her pillows and bed earlier.
Violet was already close to their dorm building when she was forced to stop in place.
An expensive looking car intentionally blocked her path and a man wearing a formal suit got out of the car.
Then, he strode towards her and said, "Miss, our Young Master wants to talk to you."
Violet looked behind to see if someone was actually standing behind her and was the one the man was talking with.
But to her surprise, she was alone and no one was behind her. In short, she was the person that the guy was talking to.
"Are you talking to me?" She cautiously asked him.
"Yes, Miss. Our Young Master only wanted to have a little of your time. After that, we will send you home."
"May I know who your Young Master is?"
Of course she had to be careful. Even in her previous world, she had to be cautious to strangers.
"The name is McWilliams." He politely answered.
She frowned when she heard the familiar name.
"Why does your Young Master wanted to talk to me?"
"I'm afraid only my Young Master can answer your question Miss."
"Fine. Where is he now?"
"This way please." Violet was then being led inside the car and was driven off somewhere.
