Since she had woken up early, she decided to start her day early, too. She started it with her daily meditation.
Though formal classes had officially ended last week, students still had to report to get their test results, their grades and also to process their enrolment for the next semester.
Such boring things before a two week semestrial break started.
And today was the day she would face the verdict of how good she had done on the last week's final exam.
Jane stretched her whole body after her five minute meditation.
After that, she came closer to her newly organized closet so she could choose her outfit if the day.
Black denim jeans and an oversized saphire blue t-shirt to hide her sexy figure paired with a black beanie was her choice.
She was sure that she would look cool on it should she not have to wear that curly wig that Jane had.
She then looked at that wig which was resting on top of her dressing table and picked it up.
'Should I wear you today? Or not?" She contemplated for a while.
As long as her original appearance was hidden, that would be okay, right?
She also looked at that big rimmed eye glasses that was sitting next with the wig and said, "Should I wear you, too?"
Jane did have a poor eye sight before and could still be manageable but as soon as she took over her body, her nearsightedness was healed.
"Contact lense is very important so this should remain."
She still needed it to hide her true eye color or she would be labeled as witch by those brats.
"Fine...I'll wear them now but I'll slowly change my appearance as the day progressed." She finally decided.
Obviously, she had to wear this wig until she could buy a new one.
She could change her appearance with magic but earlier, while she was meditating, she could not feel any improvement in her body.
But she knew she was absorbing something. Sadly, there's no movement inside her yet. It did at first but it suddenly stopped.
She thought she's still far from reaching the level one mage rank.
So until she could learn magic in this world too, she had to buy a wig and continue putting make up on her face and other visible body parts to hide her true skin color.
But she could lighten the tone a bit as days passed by too. But she should stay in a certain spectrum and not go all white or those kids would think that she had...
"Stop it! Just let them be! Okay? Let us end Jane's messiry of being labeled as the school's freak before graduation." She scolded herself.
Yes, sometimes bullying sparked because of ugly physical appearance. But no matter how pretty you were, you could still be subject to bullying. The cases on the latter were relatively fewer than the former.
Mostly, the victims of bullying were those who looked weak and easy to bully.
But if she would change her attitude in handling them? If she would show how to fight back and not avoid them just like the last time, they would surely stop, right?
Jane then tried to picture out the look that she would want to have for the day. And after that, she grabbed her towel and robe then got inside the bathroom to officially start her day.
After she was done, she took the maroon robe which made her porcelain white skin to glow even more in contrast to the fabric.
She didn't know why Philip chose maroon for her but she kind of like it though.
White would still be fine, though.
With only her robe and underwear on, she decided to make her breakfast at the same time cooking for her bento lunch later.
Rice was the main staple food in this country which was surprisingly no problem for her even though back in her royal days they had potatoes or wheat bread as substitute.
She thought that it was better that she had her own bento lunch box so she could eat in a silent place away from the chaotic cafeteria and eat there.
The thought made her kind of excited a bit.
With Jane's memory, she could cook dishes which she was unfamiliar yet tasted amazing.
Jane was very skillful and talented.
She made garlic rice topped with egg and sausage for her breakfast.
For her lunch, she had a cup of rice which she stuffed on the biggest compartment. She had cooked marinated pork chop, tempura, sweet potato shoot and chopped tomatoes cooked in soy sauce and seasoned with red onion and garlic.
She also packed a piece of banana fruit, too.
After she had eaten her breakfast, she moved to her dressing table so she could start fixing herself.
She let her porcelain blonde hair off the towel then she started blow drying them.
"So, let's start with...."
Jane started practicing with her make up.
It's not difficult for her to apply make up since Jane's body seemed to act on reflex.
The old Jane had been doing this for years so she's already a master of it and had developed a strong muscle memory.
Jane decided to minimize the amount of acne marks and freckles that the old Jane had drawn on her face.
She also used a brown foundation today. She decided to adjust the color of her skin tone every other week.
She then wore the head cap before she wore the wig and she made some finishing touches on her look.
It may looked like there's no change in her appearance at all but it's in there.
Even the process of bleaching the skin white won't show the result after the first session.
Jane decided to pay Director Lopez a visit first before she would go and approach her professors one by one.
While she was on her way to school, a familiar voice called him from behind making her to turn around and greet the person.
"Good morning, Jake!" She said while waving her hand.
"Good morning too, Jane!" He greeted her back but then the young man paused as he looked at Jane's face.
'Is my make up not good today? Did I overdid it?' She asked herself as she frowned at Jake.
"Is it just me? Or you just looked different today." He blurted out.
"I guess because I don't have much pimples on my face?" She asked in an innocent manner. Like she didn't know what he was talking about.
"Right! That's it. Are you using any product?" He asked as they started to walk side by side going to the school entrance.
"Ahm...Mama...I mean my mom left some cream before she went back home and that's what I have been using since then." She lied in a heartbeat.
"Really? Then, may I know the brand?"
"Why? Are you going to use one? You already have a glass like skin you know. You don't need them." She said straight away not giving any room for Jake to refute.
"No! I don't mean it that way. Silly. I mean most products found in the market today have chemical compounds that might not be safe to use in the long run. I just want to make sure that they're safe for you to use."
"Well then, you don't have to worry about it as my Mama personally made it for me." She lied again.
'I'm sorry Mama.' She apologized to Mrs. Sanchez in her heart.
"Really?!" Jake asked in disbelief.
"Yeah. Before we became like this, my parents were merchants and they would travel across the country and some parts of the continent. That's were she developed this hobby of collecting herbs and making them into our own shampoo, conditioner and other hygiene products for the family to use." She half-lied.
Mrs. Sanchez did has that hobby but she stopped it a long time ago.
"Wow! Your Mom's cool!" He complimented.
"I know. She's the coolest mother ever!" Jane agreed with him.
"I'm sorry if I make you recall your sad past." Jake then apologized to her.
"It's okay. Don't sweat it."
A few students were walking inside the main building as the rest were already on their respective rooms.
But still these few students looked at them with curiosity, mockery and disdain. But they dared not to make the latter to be so obvious because Jake was present.
They were curious to know why the most handsome nerd in the campus was together with the ugliest nerd in town.
Was this a perfect example of opposite poles attracts?
Unfortunate for them, the duo ignored them anyways.
"How have you been during the weekend, Jane?" Jake asked.
"My weekend was great." She simply answered.
"Last friday, the delivery guy told me that you're not in your dorm so he delivered the food in my dorm instead. If you don't mind me asking, where have you been?" Worry was evident in his tone.
"Oh. I happened to meet an acquaintance and he offered me a job."
"He? You mean a guy offered you a job?" He probed making Jane to be a little bit awkward as she didn't know if she should answer him or not.
But for the sake that he had been good to her, she decided to answer him.
"Yes. Don't worry. The job is something I can handle well. And it is like I'm not doing a job at all." She reassured.
"You're not contracted to be someone's instant wife are you?" Jake suddenly blurted out making everyone in the hallway to look at them.
Jane's mouth hung open in the air as she was caught off-guard by Jake's sudden question.
To make things worse, he even turn her body so she would face him.
Then she giggled when she finally gotten over the shock that this young man caused.
"Are you serious? I mean look at me! With how I look, do you think someone would waste their time on me? Nah ah! My appearance is enough to give everyone a nightmare, you know." She dramatically said.
"And besides, I don't think contract marriage is a thing in this country. Arrange marriage could be. But contract marriage? Nah! Even so, I'm someone with a humble background. So stop joking around, okay?"
Jane then turned on her left so she could continued walking.
"Don't worry. I am being hired to tutor a child." She could not tell him because of the confidentiality clause in the contract.
It was stated there that unless the employer disclosed it himself then, then there's no problem.
Jake kind of guess about it so he respected this confidentiality and he silently walked beside Jane.
They walked silently until Jane and him reached the administrative and faculty building.
"I think this is where we should part ways for now. I have to visit Director Lopez first before I seek for my professors one by one." She explained.
"Really? Then I'll go with you. We're in the same direction." He said with a smile.
"Okay?" Jane said as she was unsure if she would want to tag along.
"Yeah. Let's go." Jake said as she grabbed Jane's hand and held it as they walked on the stairway.
Jane felt uncomfortable as she looked at Jake's hand.
For some reason, she had become conscious.
Not only because she could read what was on Jake's mind but also because Jake was happy holding her hand.
'Am I over thinking things?' She asked herself.
Maybe she was just assuming.
Well, she could tell that Jake's a good person and she knew that she's not good for him.
If ever Jake would feel another type of feeling towards her, she would only hurt this poor young man. So it's better if she should make things clear between them.
Though she's Jane and had taken over her feelings including the emotions, a big part of her was still the hurt Violet.
The HER who thought that she might not be able to love again.
Jake must have realized the uneasiness she felt and so he slowly released her hand.
"I'm sorry." He immediately apologized to her.
"Don't sweat it. It's fine." She said with a smile.
