Dinner was then served in no time.
And finally, Jane had seen Phil who was serving dinner for them.
Jane greeted Phil with a smile but unfortunately, Phil ignored her. But later on, when the latter realized who she was, Phil had become speechless.
"You --Jane? Is that you?" He suddenly blurted out making Edric to clear his throat while looking at them who seemed to be so close to each other.
"Ahem!"
"Did I really transform much that you cannot even recognize me?" She asked Phil unintentionally ignoring Edric.
"Mr. Phil, don't you know that my Pwetty Sistew is actually very pwetty?" Celeste intervened in their conversation. But then seeing that she had done wrong, she immediately apologized.
Children should not interfere on the conversation between the adults except if asked.
"I'm sorry." She bowed down her head.
"It's okay baby. But don't do it again next time, okay?" Mrs. Shaw said.
"Phil, I am hungry." Edric said.
Phil looked at Edric in disbelief.
If he was hungry, then did that mean that his Young Master was asking to be fed by him?
"Bring all the dishes that you have cooked on the table." Edric coldly said.
"Oh, right. I'm sorry Young Master." He immediately apologized and was about to leave when Jane spoke.
"Do you want some help Phil?" She asked.
But Phil immediately declined as he still cherished his life.
He thought that his Young Master must probably be jealous.
As she received his rejection, Jane had no other choice but to listen.
"Jane, your work for the day is already done. You're considered as a guest in the house now. Let Phil do his job next time." Edric blurted out which earned a giggle from Mrs. Shaw.
"Is there something funny with what I have said, Lilith?" Edric immediately asked.
"None at all cousin." She said however, she continued in her thought, 'Just admit that you don't like the two interacting.'
She was confident that Edric would not be able to hear or read her thoughts.
"Okay, Sir." Jane said.
"You don't have to call me Sir beyond your working hours." Edric immediately corrected.
Since he said that, Jane had no other choice but to obey. So she resorted to the way how she had been addressing him before.
"Okay. Mr. McWilliams."
Mrs. Shaw giggled when she heard how Jane had become so formal in addressing Edric.
"Just call her with his name Jane. My cousin won't mind. He may looked mature and intimidating but actually he is just twenty-seven this year."
But Jane didn't buy this suggestion at all.
"No. I'm in no position to call him casually. We're not close. And besides, he's my employer."
'Oops! Cousin! Seems like Jane has already drawn the line between you both. You better work harder to gain her heart. I mean her trust.' Mrs. Shaw teased Edric in her thought.
"Just let the kid Lilith." Edric said as he drank the wine in his glass.
After hand being told that she was a kid when she wasn't, Jane got annoyed. Her cute reaction earned a smirk from Edric.
After Phil placed everything on the table, that's when they had decided to eat together.
Phil didn't leave this time. He was standing on the sides waiting for any orders that Edric and the rest would ask him to do.
The dinner went smoothly and peacefully.
When they were done, Mrs. Shaw and Celeste excused themselves as they retired early on their assigned room.
While Jane, she was left with Edric.
Jane thought that since Phil was already there, then he could send her back to her dorm, right?
But Edric had other plan in mind and he decided to send her back himself.
Jane had no other choice but to agree.
As they arrived on the same corner where he picked her up earlier, the car came to a smooth stop.
Jane was about to go out from his car but Edric had not unlocked the doors yet.
So in the end, they were stuck in an awkward silence.
None of them dared to speak.
"Ahm, I think I should get going now." She said breaking the silence between them.
That's when Edric finally unlocked the doors and Jane was able to go out.
"Thank you for the ride, Mr. McWilliams."
But Edric didn't respond to her.
Jane had no other choice but to close the door shut.
Seconds after, the car sped off leaving her alone.
"What was that for?" She mumbled to herself.
She scoffed while looking at his car in a distance. She was mad because he was rude.
'If you were actually not in the mood to send me back, you should have asked Phil to do it instead!' She protested in her mind after making sure that he was very far away and won't be able to hear her.
Jane decided to walk back to where her dorm was after she vented out the pent up frustration that she had.
She was thankful that she didn't meet anyone while she was walking towards the entrance of her dorm.
However, not far away, she had seen Stephanie and Gab making out in the dark.
Jane immediately looked away to give them privacy.
She didn't know that the two were involved with each other. Well, more like Jane didn't know about it.
If she was still the old Jane, she should probably be hurting seeing them.
Jane had a secret crush for Gab and no one knew about it but she herself. Jane didn't have the courage to confess but she kept on sending him daily cards on his locker.
Jane knew that she had no chance with Gab at all.
So she made herself contented on just looking at him from afar.
Our little Jane was a hopeless romantic.
When she had taken over Jane's body and saw Gab, she could feel the residual feeling towards Gab.
However, she was just so distracted when she had seen Edric for the first time that night so she had neglected it.
Now looking at him, Violet knew that it was the right choice for Jane to not confess to the likes of him.
Gabriel looked like a player. Well, he had that reputation.
It was shame that Jane's first shot at love was actually with a guy like Gab.
It was just right that she had kicked him in the groin because he was j*rk.
When she reached the entrance of her dorm building, there were students who were waiting however none of them dared to approach her because they got intimidated by her aura.
Jane heaved a sigh of relief as she didn't want her mood to be ruined by confrontation.
No one dared to follow her, too which she was thankful for.
Jane entered her room and decided to have a quick dip on the bath to ease the tension she felt in her body.
Meanwhile, back in the mansion Mrs. Shaw was inside Edric's private lounge.
"So cousin, spill the tea." Mrs. Shaw said as she comfortably sat down on the couch.
"Is she going to be the one?" She continued.
"What the hell are you talking about?"
Edric had just come back from sending Jane home.
"Your love life." She simply answered as she sipped on her tea.
"Is she the one that the prophecy was pointing out?"
"I don't know. But all I can say is that she's special." He honestly answered.
"Wow! Fate really knew how to play with you, right? Who would have thought that the person who saved my daughter might be your fated one?" Mrs. Shaw teased.
"Shut up! Seems like letting you be my cousin give you so much courage to talk to me that way." Edric angrily said.
"My apologies. So do you want me to call you Your--" She wanted to tease her further however she knew that it was not the right time.
Edric could only rub the space between his brows as he could not dare to be mad with Mrs. Shaw.
Seeing his complicated facial expression, Mrs. Shaw decided to stop teasing him.
"Are you still serious in looking for the one woman who could end the curse that you have?" She asked him.
"Yes." Edric shortly answered.
"Why? Isn't being an Immortal Being' a good thing? I mean, everyone dreamed of having that kind of blessing." She asked him seriously.
"It's not easy to watch the people you cared about growing old and then die in front of you while here I am, stuck in the same body." Edric expressed.
The thought of immortality was very exciting for those who had not experienced it. But for him who had been in this world for more than five hundred years, everything went boring and monotonous as time passed by.
"That must have been tragic." She said.
"Very." Edric agreed.
"Well, if it is indeed Jane whom you are looking for, what are you going to do?" She asked.
"I have to make sure that she will do her job." Edric said.
Actually, Mrs. Shaw had a little bit of idea how it was done.
She also feel that if Jane was not the one, then the story was bound to be tragic from the very beginning. Well, it was bound to be tragic in either way.
However, she was hoping to find the silver lining in the darkest situation.
