Violet's lips twitched as she could not believe that this man had a way of handling her.
"So, now that your concerns are solved, I don't see any reasons for you to refuse my offer."
Violet looked at the man then asked "Why not you do it instead? You're an educator yourself right?"
"Little girl. Yes I am, but my niece will be much happier to see her pretty sister teaching her instead of her serious looking Uncle, don't you think so?" Mr. McWilliams said.
'Made sense.' she thought.
"Okay." Violet finally accepted the offer.
"Good." Mr. McWilliams said and then called Phil to fill in the details for her.
Phil was fast and he immediately pulled out the draft of contract together with a pen for correction purposes.
"You may add or change the terms depending on how you like it, Miss Sanchez. The Young Master never hesitates to be generous to deserving people." Phil added.
Violet made sure to double check and re-read the draft contract as she thought there were some typos on it.
When the old Jane was still doing some part-time at the bakery and the coffee shop, her salary was only ten thousand peso per month but now, she would be paid double in every hour but in dollars? She's immediately a millionaire in just an hour.
Not only that, she would be given with a golden bank card which already contained money which served as her hiring bonus as what a section on the contract stipulated. The card had fifty thousand dollars, not in pesos.
She would be teaching Celeste every Saturday for six hours until the child said so. So imagine the money she could get in a month. In a year.
This was so good to be true!
She even questioned if there was no other hidden clause in the contract where in she would be selling herself to him just to get paid with that huge amount.
But there's none!
"Aren't you afraid that I will ran away with the money that I have?" She asked him but it was Phil who answered in behalf of the Young Master.
"Miss Sanchez, if ever you run away with his money, Young Master can always find you and bring you back no matter which continent you're hiding."
His explanation actually made sense. Given his aura and this big house alone, he was already showing her that the man was powerful and was from a very influential family.
But what was he doing in Country P though?
She could understand Missus Shaw since she was married into the Shaw family.
Even the Shaw family was not native of the country.
They seemed to be out of place in this country actually.
Still, she could not dare to accept such astronomical amount of money. She found it a little troublesome on her part.
She felt guilty knowing that she was overpaid for doing something that she would actually enjoy.
Thus, she made revisions on the draft.
She declined the fifty thousand dollars signing bonus. She also removed a couple of zero from the hourly rate that was stipulated making it two hundred dollars per hour. Which was already not bad given that it would equivalent to more or less ten thousand pesos depending on the actual exchange rate.
Mr. McWilliams was sipping on his tea while he was curiously looking at her. Observing her every movements.
Every time she frowned. When her forehead creased a little, when she gulped and when she subconsciously bit her inner lip. And her actions were like that of a noble lady as what Phil had secretly whispered to him.
In short, he didn't find it annoying at all.
He found it fascinatingly cute and pleasing despite her current appearance.
Well, if one would only look closely, she had the most beautiful facial structure that a woman would want to ever have.
She only draw some fake freckles and fake pimple on her face. And turned her face color to tan.
But the concept of beauty in Country P was that the fairer you were the more attractive you looked in the eyes. Fair and glass skin type were kind of the standard of beauty in Country P. Which was ironic since this country was located in a tropical region.
Mr. McWilliams didn't know about any of that. Even the concept of beauty for women.
For him, they all looked the same when they wore those thick make up.
Well, all his life he had been ignoring women, except for Mrs.Shaw and little Celeste. So he had no clue how they behaved.
Well, even with Mrs. Shaw, he didn't pay much attention to her. They only talked when it's about business. And Mrs. Shaw had already well adjusted to his attitude.
As for her daughter, Celeste didn't approach him that much whenever he paid visit.
Little did he know, the little girl was sometimes scared to approach him especially when she saw his mug face.
He sometimes looked like he was always angry. Like he hated the word. He even looked scarier than General Shaw.
He hated women actually. Treating the rest of the female population as air around him.
He found their existence annoying.
People who met him would thought that he was gay because of how he behaved whenever he saw a woman who intentionally want to approach him.
Then, why did he chose to be a professor in a University with female students and female colleagues?
That was because of the little woman he was observing at the moment.
Going back to Violet's appearance, he was not repulsed by it.
"Stop looking at me. It's uncomfortable." Violet said making him to frown and cleared his throat while looking away.
He suddenly felt embarrassed for being caught by her.
When Violet was done making the changes, she then gave it to Phil and Phil gave it to him to read.
Both Phil and him thought that since they said he was generous, they really thought that Violet would abuse it.
Thus, when they both read her terms, they were frowning as if something was odd with it.
And Violet could feel that there's more in this proposal that she had not known of yet, based on their reactions.
"If you won't accept my terms, then as much as I loved to be with Celeste, I have to decline your offer. No, scratch that, as much as possible, I don't want any denomination to stand in between my relationship with her. I hate that thought." She said with sincerity.
Violet didn't want other people to think that she was talking to the child because she was after the money she was being paid by tutoring her.
She didn't want Celeste to think that she's like that either. She wanted to build a relationship with her not because of material benefits but because she felt that unexplainable joy and happiness when the child was around her.
"However, I don't want to sound hypocrite. I do need money. But I don't want to abuse your so called generosity." She didn't care what they would think of her.
Mr. McWilliams then looked at her as if trying to read if she was indeed for real. And not someone sent by an enemy to spy on him.
However, he could feel the genuineness of her intentions thus he scrapped those thoughts aside.
"So, these are your terms?" He asked her.
"Yes. Sir."
"Hmm. Okay. I'll agree with your hourly payment. However, I still insist on giving you that hiring bonus."
Seeing that she was about to protest, he continued.
"The Shaw had already showed their gratitude for saving Celeste but my McWilliams family still haven't. Accept it as our gift to you. Our gift of gratitude for saving my niece." He sincerely said.
"And besides, you need that money to look presentable. That way, you can show to people the worth you are hiding inside that tiny body of yours. And that you are actually worth it of everything they thought you aren't!" He said making Phil who was standing on the sidelines to be proud of his Young Master.
Who would have thought that his young master who was had been indifferent to women since he could remember was capable of giving an advice to Miss Sanchez!
He may sounded harsh but he felt like she needed a push to realize that she had to change not for others but for herself.
'I know you can hear me.' He continued talking to her in his thoughts making Violet to be caught off-guard.
And she knew her reaction had given her away already. There's no denying it that she had already revealed herself to him.
'No! Impossible, are you?' She asked him back.
'I am. I know you can hear my thoughts as long as I share it with you.' He answered.
'I will help you answer your questions and will help you in guiding with your gift if you're okay with that.' He offered.
"I don't know who the hell you are but no thanks!" Violet said firmly as she rejected his offer making Phil to frown.
He had no idea what was going on. The only thing that he saw was that these two were staring at each other as if they were trying to read each other's minds.
Well, that was literally what they were doing!
"Okay. But I insist. You need that money in rebuilding yourself. If someone dares to question you, you have my back. As soon as you affixed your signature on the contract, you're already under my responsibility...as your employer of course." He said going back to their original topic.
Seeing that he had the point, Violet didn't refuse the money.
Even if she didn't care about other people's opinions as Violet because she was so done with that, as Jane now, she had to.
Jane had grown up in a cruel environment with most of the people disrespecting her just because she didn't look good. And if she revealed her true face, people who were after her would surely hunt her dead.
So as Violet, she had to find the middle ground on everything.
If she wanted to survive this another cruel world, she had to gain their --these people's respect. She had to change not for others but for herself.
She had to rebrand Jane. She felt like she owe it to her. To give her name a good reputation and eventually a good life.
She didn't know if there's a chance that she might return to her previous world and Jane's spirit would repossess her body. If that would indeed happen, Violet want Jane to not regret letting her to live in her body.
After that 'tea party', Phil then lead her into the dining room so she could eat dinner before she'll be sent back to their dorm.
"Where's he?" She asked Phil.
"The Young Master have already eaten before you arrived." Phil answered.
"Oh."
Phil left her alone as he encoded the contract.
After she had her dinner. Phil came back and asked her to sign them if she was already satisfied with the contract.
Violet re-read it again and she sighed in satisfaction when her terms were met. Thus, she was ready to affix her signature on every page of the contract and where it was needed per Phil's instruction.
However, she made a quick pause when she saw saw the name opposite hers in the contract.
Earlier when she read the draft, the name of the employer was left blank. She didn't mind it since it was still the first draft.
When she had read the final draft now, she went directly to the page where she made the revisions.
And then proceeded to the last page where the acknowledgement part and where both parties should affix their signature was located.
But now, reading the name of her new employer, she heaved a sigh of relief when they didn't share the same.
'Edric R. McWilliams?' She asked in her thought.
After realizing that she was in a daze, she then snapped out of it and continued affixing her signature. It's quite surprising to her that her hand seemed to have a mind of its own and made Jane's signature that was on her mind.
Phil on the other hand felt like his heart had stopped making him to pray to the heavens after he saw her seemed to be hesitating to sign after she read his young master's real name.
His young master had instructed him that he must make her to sign it or he would receive his punishment for failing.
But then he heaved a sigh of relief when he saw her affixing her signature.
He then received the papers and said, "Good. I'll ask the Young Master to affix his. And we'll get it notarized by Young Master's attorney. The latter is actually out of town so I hope you forgive us for the delay."
He then bowed down to apologize to her.
Violet smiled and waved her hand to let him know that she didn't mind.
"It's okay. Take your time." She said politely.
Phil then handed her the bank card and even if she insisted that she would accept it later together with the contract, Phil told her that it was Mr. McWilliams' order and it would be troublesome for him should she refuse to accept the card now.
Hearing that, Violet had no other choice but to sigh in defeat. Phil didn't do nothing to her aside from being kind and friendly during her entire stay here.
He kind of remind him of her father even though he was younger than the latter. In her estimate, he looked like he was still in his middle to late thirties.
After completing his task with her, Phil sent her back to school.
Just like the last time with the Shaw family's chauffeur, she asked Phil to send her a few blocks away from their dorm.
But Phil was hesitant as it was already almost late and bad guys must have been lurking at the corners waiting for their victims.
Especially that it's late now. Almost near the dorm's curfew at ten.
But Jane was stubborn and even threatened him that if he won't do what she asked, she'll jump out of the car even if it was still running.
Having no choice he agreed but he still secretly followed her until she safely arrived at the entrance of their dorm.
