Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: Jane's Memory Pool

Fred tried his best to chase after Violet but she was already out of his sight.

So he vowed to look for her first thing in the morning tomorrow.

Violet on the other hand entered her room with a grumpy mood.

She didn't like what had happened earlier in the cafeteria at all.

Her fake hair was wet with orange juice and she had to wait until twelve in the morning before she could go and wash it clean.

She somehow heaved a huge sigh of relief as it seems like Betty was out with her boyfriend again tonight. Not that she cared about her anyways. Well, a little bit maybe.

In fact it was a huge relief on her part because she'll be having the room for herself for the rest of the night. Hopefully for the rest of the week.

For some reason, Jane didn't trust Betty to know her secret so it was better for Violet to keep it like that to save herself from additional trouble.

Even though the people after Jane, the original owner of this body she was possessing, was living in another continent a thousand miles away from her, Violet would never dare to be complacent unless she knew their capabilities and how far they could go to harm her.

Until then, it's better to be safe than be sorry in the end.

But based on Jane's memories, they were pretty hard-core in wanting to eliminate her. Just wow!

Jane only wanted to live a peaceful life after she had escaped from their claws but destiny had other plans for her.

Ann Sanchez's husband had gotten involved with the loan sharks and now her mother had to repay it in his place so they would let their family off the hook.

If they won't be able to repay it, one of her siblings would be the payment instead. And Jane didn't want that to happen. Not her sister Naomi nor her brother Anton. Besides, they were still so young to face such cruelty.

Anton was only fourteen and Naomi was twelve. They had not reached the peak of puberty yet. Jane worked hard for this family and also making sure that she would finish her studies.

She was always a filial daughter to Mrs. Sanchez and a good sister to her siblings. But still, life was so cruel to her.

Violet could only sympathize for Jane's poor soul. She just hoped that wherever she was now, she's fine and happy.

Violet sighed as she tried to lift her mood a bit.

If she'd be upset for the entire night over these things, then she might have to go out in the middle of the night and bought some food because of hunger. Which was not good for someone who was on a tight budget.

Well, she could cheat by buying some sandwich but it would be too troublesome to go out at night.

She knew it was wrong but she wished she could use magic in this world so she could cast a spell on them.

'Magic should not be used in evil things.' A voice in her head echoed.

"I know. You don't have to remind me. And besides, I don't know if I'd be able to use it here in this world." She mumbled in frustration

Though the energy was present, it's still not enough. So she didn't want to raise her hopes up.

The only thing she wanted to do now was to get familiar with Jane's talent. She could use telepathy now and could dive in someone's memory pool too.

This must be pretty taunting for Jane but for Violet, it's not. It made her pretty excited to be honest.

She was sure that if those bullies knew of her abilities, they would surely freak out. So it should be her deepest secret.

Speaking of secrets, she had to make sure that her privacy was safe at all times.

So she went back on the door and doubled check if she locked them. She heaved a huge sigh of relief when she actually did.

After removing her wig, Violet then tossed it on the desk and freed her original hair from the tight hair cap.

She also changed her clothes with Jane's old house clothes.

Then she recalled the conversation she had with the custodian with regards to Jane's locker. As what the latter said, all the contents were sent back to her dorm room so it should be here.

So she started looking for it inside the room.

She checked on underneath her bunkbed and there she found a box and pulled it out.

The box was pretty dusty and covered with cob webs given that it was kept there for probably three months.

She confirmed that it was indeed what she was looking for when she opened it.

It was actually packed in a pretty messy manner.

She then immediately checked on the books one by one and what she saw broke her heart.

Most pages of her books were torn and were far from useable.

They even soaked it or poured red paint on them which made the pages to stick together.

This made Violet in Jane's body to be trembling in angry.

She clenched her palm into a tight fist as she tried to calm down.

She had seen from Jane's memory how she was being bullied by those guys. She didn't know the extent of it until she experienced it herself earlier.

Bullying attempts against her had already become a habit. Jane had dodged majority of them but there were times that luck was turning away from her and she was successfully bullied.

Just like what had happened before.

She fought back with them at first but she knew that doing so would only make it worse. So sometimes she just let them do it if she had no choice. Hoping that when the bullying stopped, they would leave and ignore her which what usually happened in the end.

And the usual culprits were Fred's gang or the entire football team.

Geez! They were boys with athletic body. If she resisted them when she got caught, they would act worse at her.

Even the Campus Director's countless warnings didn't stop these guys from bullying her.

You thought bullying only happened in high school days? It's even worse in college or universities where in fraternities or sororities got involved to join the fun and it's worse ever.

Life was nothing but pain for her.

Even on the way she died, she had to suffered from pain.

But somehow, now that she's dead, she could finally have a breather from everything. Violet really hoped to use magic at the moment so she could teach these adults the biggest lesson of their lives.

"Wow! These kids sure needed more than a week-long scolding from their parents!" She mumbled in anger.

No, maybe the parents were partly to blame of how their sons or daughters had turned out to be now that they had grown up. Just like in Fred's memories.

Then, should she teach them a lesson instead?

That's ridiculous!

Well, if she would consider her age back in Aprivepan, she might be at the same age as their parents.

Maybe she could teach them a lesson in another way.

Screw it! They better stay away from her or else they'd know how the Queen looked like when she's mad.

Violet then decided to take her makeup pouch and decided to get the make up remover to remove the thick make up on her face.

With a sigh, she gave Jane a thumbs up for choosing this disguise to the extent and had to live with it for many years.

She had successfully removed the make up on her face. What's left now were on the visible parts of her body.

She then looked up at the time on the wall clock and saw that it was still eight in the evening.

She then decided to meditate and clear her mind from the negative energies she had during the day.

Violet sat on the middle of her bed in lotus position.

Closing her eyes, she inhaled deeply and started her meditation.

She could feel a faint amount of energy gathering around her body making the ring on her right ring finger had a faint glow of light around it.

Moments later, she could feel every cell of her body radiating and the ring was hitting up. It was getting warm in her right ring finger.

Violet then slowly opened her eyes and saw the ring emitting a faint golden glow.

"What are you?" She asked as she brought closer near her eyes to have a closer look.

The warm being emitted by the ring was actually not uncomfortable.

In fact, it gave her comfort and relaxation.

She still didn't know what's the purpose of this ring though.

But one thing that's for sure, it's a gentle reminder that she didn't come from this world. That she came from another world with a purpose of having a new life.

A life different from her previous one which ended in tragedy just like Jane's.

Now, she wanted to give Jane and herself a satisfying and happy ending.

So she hoped that the god in this world would smile brightly at her this time.

Finger's crossed.

Before she called it a night, Violet decided to do something.

She wanted to do what she had done to Fred's mind earlier.

Could she do it on herself?

There's no harm to try.

Violet then closed her eyes as she started concentrating.

She then started to recall what she did earlier. Seconds later, she was in.

She dove inside Jane's memory pool and started to swim along thousands of memories Jane had.

Happy memories was brighter while the sad memories were darker.

Truth enough, Jane had a lot of bad memories than the happy ones.

It was suffocating to explore for Violet. She could feel Jane's hatred in them but somehow it was overpowered by the goodness in her heart.

Though Jane's happy memories occupied approximately thirty percent, they were her most precious ones. And most of them happened after Mrs. Sanchez adopted her.

Violet could not find Jane's memories before that. And that picked her interest. So she decided to dive deeper.

And when she did, she discovered a huge steel door bound with chains and seven heavy duty padlocks.

Violet realized that whatever types of memories being stored behind that door, Jane must have subconsciously didn't want to remember any of those.

They must be pretty painful and traumatic for her.

And Violet felt that it would be invading of Jane's privacy and kind of disrespectful if she would try to unlock it.

And besides, she didn't hold the key.

This new discovery that she had with Jane made Violet to be more curious about her.

And for the second time she asked, "Jane, who are you?"
