Chapter 26 - Dome

Aron took out a protein bar and handed one over to Alissa too. He hoped it would boost their energy levels so they could stay awake the whole night and wouldn't feel famished.

As they advanced further into the dungeon, they noticed that during nighttime the dungeon was pitch black and it was impossible to see anything in the darkness. So, Aron used Fire Mastery (D) to light a torch and carry it throughout the tunnel. Aron and Alissa's shadows silently trudged throughout the dungeon, until they finally reached another clearing.

Aron wondered what they would encounter. Is it still sludges and lizards, or is it something else?

He crept into the clearing, but still couldn't sense any presence. The only thing he could see was a dome in the center of the room.

He increased the amount of fire ignited by Fire Mastery (D), hoping he could brighten the room. At that moment, he sensed a rumbling sound.

Aron looked around. He couldn't find where the sound came from.

He strained his ears and tried to listen once again.

This time, instead of a rumbling noise, there was a hissing sound. Aron immediately knew this was a snake. After all, this dungeon was famous for snakes.

Aron heightened his senses trying to find the snake but it was futile. He couldn't find it. He had searched all around the clearing, however, he couldn't find a single snake. The only place left to search was the dome in the center of the room.

Aron slowly approached the dome. He gave Alissa a look, telling her to be ready for any ambushes.

He climbed up the steps of the dome. But, still he couldn't find any snakes. Once, he had reached the top of the dome, he was confused. He hadn't found a single snake, but he was still hearing the hissing sounds. And, for some reason, most of the noise was coming from the top of the dome.

Thinking there were snakes inside the dome, Aron tried to cut the dome with his sword.

However, his mithril sword wasn't able to cut it.

Aron was shocked. His mithril sword could cut through even the toughest of steels, but it wasn't able to make a dent on this rock.

Aron touched the dome, wondering what material it was made of, but suddenly the dome started vibrating.

Aron moved back and fell in surprise.
