Chapter 30 - Petrified

Before him, stood Alissa, petrified. Her whole body had turned into stone.

Just when the Medusa had rushed towards Aron, Alissa had used her body to block its attack.

Aron quickly picked up the statue of Alissa and carried it far away from the Medusa. It was heavy, but the only thing on Aron's mind was to save Alissa. He carefully set her down on the ground and fed her the petrification antidote that she had given him before the battle. He wished he could have watched her as she healed, however, the Medusa was still chasing him.

Once Aron was done feeding Alissa the antidote, he ran towards the Medusa. While he was running, he remembered an ancient Greek myth about a hero named Perseus and the Medusa.

It was once said there was an evil monster named Medusa living in a cave. A hero named Perseus was given the task to slay it. However, it was impossible to look at the Medusa. Whomever looked at the Medusa, would be turned to stone. So, Perseus looked at the monster through the reflection in his shield and slayed the monster with his sword. Then, he sliced of the Medusa's neck and showcased it as proof of his victory.

Although Aron had remembered how to defeat the Medusa, he didn't have any shield to reflect the Medusa's face. That meant he wouldn't be able to tell the location of the Medusa. Aron was stuck in a hard puzzle.

He searched his brain for ideas and his backpack for a shield, but it was no use.

Aron wanted more time to think, however, he couldn't stay on the spot and search for ideas. He needed to get out of the dungeon, so he could give Alissa better treatment.

Aron rushed towards the Medusa. His eyes were closed and his sword was lit with flames from Fire Mastery (D). He also tried to use Earth Mastery (D) to sense the Medusa's footsteps on the floor.

Once he got close to what he thought was the Medusa's position, he swung his sword.

Swiiish.

Aron's sword didn't meet anything, except the air around him.

Aron felt a sharp pain in his back. It felt as if dozens of knives had been stabbed into him.

Still, Aron didn't open his eyes. He moved back, trying to come up with another plan of action.
