Chapter 33 - Sleep

The bus ride was the worst. The bumpy ride made Aron's already queasy stomach feel even worse.

When he reached the front door of his house, he was taking deep breaths trying to soothe his stomach ache. Then, he grabbed the house key from his pocket and quietly carried Alissa to his bedroom, trying not to awaken Evelyn.

By the time Aron laid Alissa on his bed, it was already 10 PM. Still, Aron went into the kitchen and grabbed a medical kit to help lessen Alissa's fever. He also grabbed a mug of cool water from the sink.

He, then, dipped a cotton cloth in the mug of water and placed it on Alissa's forehead. Once the cloth absorbed Alissa's body head and warmed up, Aron replaced the damp cloth. The whole night Aron repeated this process several times.

Soon, the water ran out, and Aron went downstairs to the kitchen to get more water. He also decided to make a cup of coffee to keep himself awake.

Aron slowly went down the stairs and turned on the kitchen lights. Then, he started making his coffee. Unintentionally, he started humming his favorite tune as he made it.

Woken up by the scent of the coffee and the noise Aron was making, Evelyn came down the stairs. Aron was too busy singing to notice her.

When Evelyn entered the kitchen and hugged him, Aron finally noticed her.

Aron was surprised Evelyn had shown affection to him, however, soon realized this was the first time Evelyn had been alone, without him, for more than one day.

Aron felt bad he had awoken Evelyn on a school night and told her to go back to sleep.

However, Evelyn refused to go. Evelyn was adamant on knowing why Aron was making coffee and trying to keep himself awake at 2 AM in the morning.

Aron, finished making his coffee, took a seat with Evelyn on the sofa and recited the events that took place in the dungeon. He didn't specify too much on the battles as he didn't want Evelyn to know his ability yet.

Evelyn listened to Aron's story, and her dislike of Alissa diminished. At first, she used to think Alissa was just going for Aron's looks, but, now, she realized that Alissa actually liked Aron.

Evelyn voluntarily went upstairs to help clean Alissa. Aron hadn't been able to wash Alissa's back, since he didn't want to touch Alissa without her permission. As Evelyn scrubbed Alissa, she decided that she would help Alissa pursue her dense brother.

She had long forgotten her initial grudge against Alissa and was now happy that Aron could have a nice girl as his life partner.
