Chereads / Rise of the Hidden Queen / Chapter 26 - 26. Going Back

Chapter 26 - 26. Going Back

Although Sophia was able to fall asleep very easily, sleep itself didn't last for long. Having checked into the hotel at seven, Sophia went to bed at around eight, and yet it was only noon and she was already wide awake.

Her bones felt extremely heavy and she herself felt as if a truck had run over her but alas, no matter how hard she tried to just turn over and fall back asleep, her mind stayed awake.

Seemingly not having the patience to deal with this anymore, Sophia just woke up from bed and called for lunch.

While she was waiting for the food to arrive, Sophia washed up and checked her phone for updates from KL. Coincidently, KL had sent over a message while she was in the bathroom.

KL: 'The girls have all been checked and given proper treatment but they are still fighting for life. All of them had been given Augemenzal more than a couple of times, so we need to destroy the uterus or get them pregnant ASAP for proper care. The consequences otherwise would be very dire for their bodies.'

KL: 'What should I do? I won't take any action without your orders, but please hurry. A decision needs to be made in the next 48 hours.'

The girls that Sophia saved were the oldest batch of girls within their grasp, meaning that they were the ones who provided the most amount of eggs every month.

The fact that those girls had survived until now was because they had usefulness. For those people, a few eggs were nothing but as long as they provided more than a dozen every month, they were a good product.

Hence, any girls that do not produce more than a dozen eggs per month were r*ped, tortured, sold, and eventually killed.

These girls survived.

They were capable of producing more than a dozen eggs per month hence they lived.

However, this also meant that they had the worst of health. Being stabbed with needles and all forms of medicines 24/7 for a month was enough to make them become drug addicts along with destroying their bodies. Having endured until now was a miracle.

The eggs in their body would probably be the last batch before they become useless for their abductors. In this case, the Grey family.

This also entailed many things for the girls themselves.

If they wanted to live, they had to make two choices.

One was to get pregnant and fertilize their eggs so that they can stabilize the uterus but that meant bad things. The body was weak and so was the uterus, getting pregnant meant risking the lives of both the mother and baby.

However, if they didn't get pregnant they could opt to destroy the uterus and remove all the eggs along with all possibility of ever getting pregnant. Without the uterus, they would become empty vessels.

For many of them, just the fact that they would be living was enough to give them the determination to become empty vases. If that meant being able to live, why not? Besides, considering the events they faced, they probably were not in the right mind to carry with them a baby. Not when they were going through so much.

It would've been the most wonderful outcome if that was all, however, destroying the uterus was very dangerous. Unlike most surgeries where they can remove the uterus in case of cancer, this process that the girls needed was to "destroy" the uterus.

Dozens of eggs lined their uterus and removing them was out of the question as the Augmenzal blocked out everything for safe growing. This was the limit of the body hence, once the eggs were removed the girls would eventually die. Thus to save them, they had to destroy the uterus.

The procedure was a very painful one. They had to stay awake as the doctors slowly force out the eggs and destroy the uterus in the process before taking it out. The entire time, the girls would have to stay awake and conscious as any form of anesthesia would destroy them as a whole. The uterus would have a higher chance of infecting the surroundings rendering them with the possibility of many unfortunate things. The best outcome being not able to walk and the worst being death or terminal cancer.

Sophia looked out the wall-to-ceiling window, thinking of all the possible outcomes that seem to still vary from girl to girl. Her eyes entailing complicated emotions that were hard to understand.

She stared at the bright and busy streets outside in a daze when the doorbell rang. Shaking her head slightly, Sophia made her way to the front door. The waiter greeted her and entered the room pushing the trolley into the dining room.

The breakfast trolley was still in there so after he placed Sophia's lunch on the table and cleared the previous dishes, he took both trolleys away with him. All the while, Sophia never spoke a word, while the waiter just stated the basics and left.

Sophia sat down and looked at the bland-looking porridge in front of her. She wasn't one to waste food, so she still ate despite her lack of appetite for various reasons.

Luckily she only ordered a bowl of porridge because of her injury so there wasn't much for her to force herself to eat. Sophia stood up from the chair and moved away as she went back to her bedroom and picked up the phone.

"Master, what would happen to the girls?" Sachi, who was floating in front of Sophia, glanced at the dazed Sophia. Ever since Sophia came to Luna's body and he was able to talk, he felt that there were many things he didn't know about her. Every action that she takes and the decisions that she makes were very different.

It wouldn't be weird if they were different from the void because there they couldn't communicate and like lost souls, they just did whatever their souls desired. There was no one else and there were no responsibilities. They were free to eat, sleep, study, and do whatever they wanted, whenever they wanted.

But, Sachi felt that her actions after coming to Luna's body were vastly different from Sophia's. He had an account of all the things she did as Sophia before she died so comparing them gave him complicated emotions. He would've been happy if she were trying to change herself and rid herself of her past pushover and kind personality for the better but Sophia wasn't. In fact, she was still neglecting herself.

She should've been riled up to get revenge on the Harper family when she saw the news of her death and the false news displayed on TV, but she wasn't. Her reaction at that time was just pure disappointment. He felt no sudden burst of rage or resentment. It was as if she was an outsider watching the news of a stranger.

However, she wasn't a stranger to it. She was the person who was supposedly dead on the TV. She even knew that they lied about the cause of her death and all that sh*t but she only felt disappointed that she had allowed them to cause her death. She also felt disappointed at how they had let her down despite all the things she did for them.

Perhaps because she had died and entered the void right after for an indefinite amount of time, Sophia felt nothing but disappointment. Or perhaps she just didn't want it anymore. Maybe the healing inside the void only left her with disappointment towards them. Or else why would she not feel the need to revenge herself after all the things that they did to her?

If she was truly incapable of feeling anything or craving things like a normal person, would she be as natural and sincere in her act of taking care of Lillian and Rohan? Or saving those girls? What about avenging Luna and the plans she has to take care of the Grey family after Lillian was cured?

Sachi just didn't understand. Why was she so into taking care of others and revenging them but feel nothing about all the injustice that she had felt?

"I can't make the decision for them. If they don't wake up within 24 hours, I'll personally go and check up on them before making a decision. Until then, let's just go home." Sophia didn't have the courage to make decisions for them. It was their choice to make, after all, it was their life. They had to make the choice for themselves. Unless it was absolutely necessary, she wouldn't control their life. Not when they could make a choice for themselves. Not when they could finally control something about their life for themselves after so long.

Having said so, Sophia remembered that she needs some clothes so she just ordered some online with instant delivery. It arrived within thirty minutes so after changing her dressings, Sophia just put on the black jeans and a black t-shirt underneath the black leather rider's jacket. Putting on her black face mask, Sophia grabbed her phone and the key card on her way down to the lobby and on her way home.
