Chapter 28 - 27. Paid hospital fees

Since Sophia had left in the afternoon when traffic was quite low, it only took about 4 hours for Sophia to reach Luna's apartment.

Getting home, Sophia was welcomed to the dust covering the house like before and still little signs of life. The laundry she left before she went on her mission was being held at the laundry store and she had already picked it up when she came by. Before she went there she had visited an electronics store to buy some mini CCTV cameras.

Taking a good hour to install four of them within the three bedrooms, the living room, and the kitchen, Sophia had also installed a thermal one inside the three bathrooms scattered across the apartment. Once she was done she had so, she made a phone call to order cleaning services for the apartment while she got ready to redress her wounds and get ready to go out.

She was in her bedroom with her top shirt off in front of the mirror when she saw something surprising. The slit on her waist was but a mere scratch. It was as if the centimeter-deep wound was not even there! It had healed to seem as though she was scratched a little by a sharp object and a scab has already formed.

Considering that it was indeed a centimeter that she started with, Sophia concluded that it had something to do with the special body of Luna Grey. Considering how this body was immune to all drugs in general, it wouldn't come as a surprise that her wounds heal faster than normal people.

If this goes on, the slit would disappear by tomorrow morning so Sophia was grateful in a way. It was never a good thing to be injured.

Sophia didn't waste much time disinfecting the wounds on her body. The black and purple patches had also faded away rather quickly and if one didn't look close enough, they wouldn't see the remaining traces of the wounds.

It didn't take long for Sophia to clean herself up, hence she was already dressed in typical Luna Grey style clothes within a matter of ten minutes. The cleaning service was also rather quick in their steps and reached her apartment a few minutes later.

Sophia welcomed the cleaning lady in and explained to her a few things before leaving the apartment. It was quite sunny outside and Sophia didn't feel like running under the hot sun; hence, she called for a taxi and went to the hospital.

She visited Rohan's room first on the first floor only to see that he was fast asleep. An IV drip was connected to his hand. When Sophia got in, she noticed the tiny droplets of sweat forming on his forehead and the restlessness in his expression. Despite being asleep, he was in pain.

Looking at her pitiful brother, Luna was heartbroken. Memories of when he took care of her when she was younger flash by in her mind. Her eyes redden and tears welled up but Sophia held them back. Besides Rohan and herself, there was no one else inside the room however, Sophia didn't like crying. She wasn't going to cry because it never did anything but make you feel a little more miserable.

For her and Luna, right now was not the time to be feeling miserable. Nor was it the time to spend leisurely crying out tears of grievance. Holding Rohan's hand, Luna comforted him and made sure that he had calmed down before leaving for the bathroom to grab some wet wipes. She then proceeded to wipe down the sweat on his face and neck before leaving the room silently.

Two souls shared one body. While inside the room, Luna's strong emotions controlled the body and took care of Rohan. Sophia merely followed Luna's instructions and took care of Luna's brother. While she was lacking emotionally, she still felt the empty space in her heart that desired to pamper someone.

To adore and spoil something like she did with Layla. No matter how she hated herself for spoiling the wrong person, her instincts to do so never changed. It was a part of her.

While in this body, Sophia's new spoiling subjects were Lillian and Rohan. However, she couldn't do so no matter how hard she tried. Rohan and Lillian were Luna's brother and mother, not hers. Her mother had died years ago.

She could spoil them on behalf of Luna, but it would not give her the same feeling as doing it for herself. The love they would be showing to 'Luna' would always be for Luna, not her. Not for Sophia. Not until she claimed this body hers and sent Luna off on a good note.

Sophia walked to Lillian's room and stood outside. The two other patients in the room were sleeping and so was Lillian. Sophia didn't dare go in. Her longing for her mother was at its limit and if she went it, Sophia wasn't sure what she might do. Hence it was good that Lillian was asleep.

If she had to act like Luna all the while craving for the love of a mother that wasn't even directed at her, Sophia felt like she might break. Despite everything, Sophia still didn't like the feeling of breaking down. She wasn't sure if she might even feel it but she just knew that there would be a hollow feeling in her heart that would disturb her relentlessly. If she was still disturbed by the pain she saw on Rohan's face while he was asleep, how much greater would the empty feeling be when Lillian shows care to her? Care to Luna's body and Luna's soul but not her?

Glancing around at the machine near Lillian's bed, Sophia noticed that Lillian's vitals were rather stable. The calm look on her face was enough to put Sophia's heart to rest. Not daring to stand for long, Sophia left for the payment hall downstairs.

She paid a direct deposit of 200K for Lillian's surgery and 50K for emergency funds. She also paid the 2K for Rohan's bed fees and the IV fees. The total for him was merely 1K but Sophia added another 1K so that he would get better medical care.

Once she was done, Sophia wrote a message to Rohan that she had finished her delivery and had paid all the hospital fees. She told him to rest well and that the surgery was settled for tomorrow afternoon so she would come by around noon.

Having done so, Sophia put her phone away and made her way out of the hospital.

Back inside the hospital, a nurse had made her way to an empty staircase and pulled out her phone to make a call. She was the young nurse that had come by to put Lillian to sleep the other day when Sophia first went to visit.

The call was picked up within a matter of few seconds. The voice on the other side was a cold and manly voice that held a great intimidating aura. "Speak."

The nurse felt a chill run down her spine. Not daring to annoy the devil she began to report. "Sir, the fees were just paid. Everyone is preparing for the surgery tomorrow at 3 PM."

"She was able to pay the fees?"

"Yes, sir! I don't know how she did it, but she paid all 200K in one go. She even added 50K for emergency funds and another 2K for her brother." The nurse kept her head low like a subordinate reporting to their boss even though he couldn't see her. Her voice was rather calm as well despite how nervous she was inside.

"Alright. Just get ready for the surgery as normal." Although his words sounded normal, his tone was rather menacing. It was as though he had some plans for the rather 'normal' surgery! Or was she misunderstanding something?
