With the heughtened enthusiasm in my mini jukebox, at work all I could think of was where could've my dad put the key? And somewhere down the line, my past thoughts had be so corrupted that somewhere I felt both these jukeboxes weren't mine.
Ofcourse it had the yellow canary but the tunes it played on clicking the button seemed different that what I remembered as a child. As if a part of my childhood was misinterpreted cause of this piece of my past.
As I went ahead to make my dress, my cousin Dierdra arrived to check up on her wedding dress with her husband or may I say former sugar daddy Earl.
They seemed chit- chatty all along.
"So, my dear cousin have you finished my dress? There isnt forever till our wedding!", Dierdra in her usual tone of pizzazz.
"Would've finished all so soon! Only if you hadn't been changing your mind every visit!", I was pissed off as my work had always been on time but her mind was dissolving my work.
"To the prison!", she said in a lower tone than usual to perhaps mock me like a joker.
Earl pulled her arm in an indication to stop the drama.
"I'm sorry for what just happened now!", he said in a generous tone.
"We wanted to ask you if you could be Dierdra's maid of honor", he asked.
"Did we? WE?", Dierdra shocked at those words.
I already knew Earl was trying to be nice but in no dream would Dierdra want me to be a maid of honor.
"Sorry! But I'd be happy to be a bridesmaid! Maid of honor should be reserved for Dierdra's sister or her best friend Cathy!", I replied in a sweeter tone cause Earl ain't done no bad with me.
"Yes.. that would be it. But remember, for all my bridesmaids have to bring me someting old, something blue or something borrowed! And I would choose anyone from it!" , Dierdra said in a better voice than ever.
"Thats an interesting concept!", I replied.
"Let me give you a headstart. Most of them have decided to bring jukeboxes. As you know I collect antique jukeboxes!", Earl said.
"Jukebox..interesting but I have none whatsoever!", I knew I had it but its a part of my childhood which has given me a reason to hold on. And I wont give it to nobody else.
"Didn't your dad give you....." , even before she could finish her sentence Earl nudged her arm and her face turned in to a patty color as if she had made a mistake.
She began brushing her hand through the gown. And screamed, " DIAMONDSS! I need more crystals along the edges and the dress is done then!"
"OK! Will be done by next week!", I helped her get out of her dress.
They left as I saw Earl being really pissed off at Dierdra for what she said.
Maybe she could've seen it near my bed, I can't remeber so well as my uncle and his family would visit us often. But I hardly think she would remember such a detail after such a long time.
Is she or are they after my jukeboxes?
